Breakers have officially ruined the market for sports card boxes. Everyone know those product is complete dogshit yet breakers are going to gobble it up at these criminal prices still. As long as breakers continue to fund panini and topps(looking at you chrome prices) bullshit then it's never going to change.
Privatize the gains, socialize the losses and secondary markets. I dont blame breakers because theyre making a living, they arent directly raising the prices, manufacturers are. Card manufacturers are the only corporations price gouging after Covid, they all are doing it. Breakers arent causing concert tickets or eggs to be over priced but in breaking a group of people can subsidize the price to offset the cost. I would like to see breakers not include really bad products like Contenders.
You should be blaming the breakers. Who is buying the products that are criminally overpriced? That's right breakers are. If breakers weren't buying these shitty products at these absurd prices then the manufacturers wouldn't be able to continually raise prices like they are. Yes breakers are 100% to blame in all of this.
If the "breakers ruined the hobby" crowd actually knew the bullshit breakers and shop owners put up with on the distribution side, your stance would immediately shift to "distributors ruined this hobby". Because they're the ones who decided in 2020 that Prizm NBA should be $400 and not $150, and ever since early 2020 it's been distributors and about 4 key players in the online sealed product marketplace that highly influence pricing. But you've made up your mind that you want to point the gun at breakers and most do so completely irrationally without any facts backing their opinion. We just play our hands as they are dealt. We're not in control of the game.
Contenders football is THE product that started it all; autographed base rookie cards back in 1998. The fact that some of the biggest names aren’t available on the rookie auto base checklist should clearly tell everybody in the hobby that this product is an easy pass…….always rooting for you though, love your vids❤️
Michael Mayer is probably one of the decent sticker guys. They can be valuable with OL, because they generally dont have any other rookie autos. One guy that comes to mind is Jordan Maillata.
You keep saying you don't know why the prices are so high but you do know. Greedy companies like Panini and Fanatics. Distributors marking it up and then breakers charging for it in their breaks. Layton does it as well. So does Blez. So does Dave & Adams. So does Packman. So do your buddies Hitman and ChiCity
Bad take. You don't see us ripping 2023 Prizm NFL @ $1800, Obsidian @ $700, and Mosaic @ $600+ in our breaks anymore. I don't cram products people don't want down their throats like other channels do. Comparatively to other breakers, many who you mentioned, we run primarily breaks with products that are appropriately priced within the market. I am the sole owner of my company, and obviously I do what I want and speak my mind freely without fear of any repercussions. I'll point out that I'm the only full-time content creator dropping four long form video reviews a week where I speak my mind AND full-time breaker running a company that does way too many breaks with way too few employees. You won't find Richard Layton, Packman, or even my friend Hitman telling you that Contenders is simply not a good product. When I speak about wax pricing, I don't understand a world where anyone would consider ripping 23 Prizm NFL @ $1800 when you could rip 9 Topps Chrome Hobby @ $200/ea, or even 30 Optic NFL blasters @ $60 ea instead. That's what I mean when I say I don't understand pricing in this hobby.
How can you do a "proper risk assessment" for a product (s)..? "How can one calculate a P/E% .. when you don't have to, or pay for.."said"..product, thus leaving out "a company's potential/price to earning power.. That is 1/2 of the equation! Please enlighten me..
Hilarious. I'm the only full time breaker AND full time content creator in this industry. I'm the only breaker who will release a video telling you when a product is bad. Go find Richard Layton doing content in this style. You won't, unless he's sitting in a New York office with Derek Jeter opening a $2000/box product. Find me literally ANY prominent breaker who will tell you when a product is good and when a product is bad. Let's lower the bar actually. Please find me a breaker who is verifiably live for 20-25 hours a week, who also puts out four editorial style longform product reviews every week. Feel free to link them. I'll wait.
For as long as it existed up till about 2018 contenders had been under or up to about $150 a box with up to 7 or 8 autos at times. And back then people completed the sets and there was always an SSP and the cards sold well now they don't so what's the point
Never been a fan of Contenders and don't really understand why some people like it so much. That being said, I like that the base cards from hobby look different/better than retail this year. In the past, Contenders base was less than worthless AND ugly in both hobby & retail. At least the hobby looks decent now, and its differentiated from the retail (which is typically one of the worst retail products out there).
These are like pretty lil gold diggers! They expect a lot because they look really good but at some point I’m gonna need something in return! Pretty will only get you so far!!
Why can't they just make a product that is 40 bucks with 1 auto and 4 packs. This is all this is worth with the amount of random NFL players that sign and aren't worth anything.
Breakers are not the main reason why box prices are where they are, it's everyone who is buying crap at this price point which enable Panini to continue this business practice. People just need learn to say "No" and "Hard Pass" to these price points.
Saw these in walmart today as I looked for chrome. Ive been buying very little Panini this year. Topps has been my thing. Found 22 chrome and got a Wander hotbox FML!
@@RunGoodLife no clue who they r I like ur channel u don’t act greedy or have a attitude like ur just about the money and selling everything and don’t care. Ur a good guy and I respect you I just think unfortunately for the one decent guy there’s 100’s who aren’t
Love your content my man! Your the only breaker I watch....not even kidding
The reason that these are selling...is because people are paying for 'em..!
It’s hilarious how the addicts keep moaning about the price going up, but they keep coming back for more. Stop paying it and the price goes down😂

Wouldn't it make more sense to blame people like me who buy into breaks?
You have to have people buy into breaks for breakers to be breaking, there is plenty of blame to go around.

Sorry for your loss Host, $400 down the drain in less than 15 mins is turrible
Love the Always Sunny clips we need more!Great review and completely correct about the price .
now i want a booker t parallel
Appreciate the sacrifice for our enjoyment
Adding rookie base is just funny to me. They never had them before.
Michael Mayer is probably one of the decent sticker guys. They can be valuable with OL, because they generally dont have any other rookie autos. One guy that comes to mind is Jordan Maillata.
That skinner is a good player. Hits hard
RGL always coming real with it!!🤙🏼

I will buy players I’m focusing on in the secondary market on eBay only. Saves me a ton versus ripping wax, though obviously not as fun
Whoever came up with the subsets sure had fun 😂😂😂 looks like another pass in this product. Thanks for the rip
The good ol’ Jacksonville Jagwires
Don’t sleep on Tyson. He’s a dawg
What is the best purchase to make rn?
"Plugging for Panini".. That's what you're doing Boss!
Yep, bad mouthing them doesn't do anything when you still buy the product at the ridiculous price.

Right! The absolute defeat in his voice and the fact that he said no for this product, you are correct what a panini pumper 🤣👆🏻🤣🫡 give me a damn break
Even if they had the top autos you would have to buy 100 boxes to get one of them.
Ivan pace jr is a good card, I’d buy it
And he takes one for the team, again, as everything goes down in flames.

Next year's contenders should be good with all the qbs
Why does RGL get all the "Influencer Boxes" ?? !!

Just joined the channel 🤘🏼
Jahmyr Gibbs doesn’t even come close to the value pulled the first of the line on card and it sold for less than 1/3 of the box price
What a rough box
Pace is a dog for mn
Gonna have a big season this upcoming year
Topps composite football should be good, presale sold out in 55 minutes
This box is forcing me to drink
Like on this video for the Josh Jacobs joke alone. Was JL Skinner a wrassler with the WWF back in the early 1990s?
I think he was!!

Panini and Topps are definitely price gouging and making products unaffordable. To the point where the only option is to buy into breaks 😢
These are like pretty lil gold diggers! They expect a lot because they look really good but at some point I’m gonna need something in return! Pretty will only get you so far!!
Panini has you screwed up. It’s not 2023! 🤔
Why can't they just make a product that is 40 bucks with 1 auto and 4 packs. This is all this is worth with the amount of random NFL players that sign and aren't worth anything.
Buy 5 mega box for 250-275 and save 130-150
Retail Contenders is significantly worse than hobby.
I'm not really proud of this one 🤣🤣
No way that Ivan pace is worth $25.
Ouch
Why are people still paying for this 💩 Buy the singles for 10% of the box price.
thank you RGL for taking that bullet for us 😂
necessary to flip every card annoying af. them autos laughable

@@ac4336 they just can’t do that, watch videos of Kensington In Philadelphia and that’s people who break without their fix.
Contenders will forever be one of my most hated products. Absurdly overpriced smh
How in the world can they make Bagent on card? Panini stinks.
This is America, I'll open whatever I want till I'm broke.
Good looking cards, but not the value
Breakers have ruined this hobby
Saw these in walmart today as I looked for chrome. Ive been buying very little Panini this year. Topps has been my thing. Found 22 chrome and got a Wander hotbox FML!
Please don't tempt us by putting this BS in breaks
Stop buying Panini!!!!!!!!!!!! It's really that easy
Breakers ruined the hobby
Do you post that for Chad at Firehand and Chris J from CardsInifity on their channels too?

You're a parrot and have no idea what you're talking about.
Box of bums.
Why is every other card upside down??? For $500 line 'em up...seriously!
Trash - People can't stop buying so they keep printing. Good and Bad problem.
Contenders is always so bad
You don't know???!!!😂😂😂😂😂 it's because of people like you that can afford them... you stop paying them we will get better prices...
you are hilarious 🤣
