HappilyEverHanks
Not full time , but as much as we can ! I’m very happy for y’all to be able to RV full time and experience all the places you go ! Also GDRV for life .

I hope so ! You guys stay safe and keep the great videos coming!!!
"Dumping Tanks With the Hanks" a surefire bestseller.
OH. MY. GOODNESS. You just totally started a trend!!! YES!!! We are surely going to be using this from now on 😃Thank you so much for your awesome support and comments, keep them coming!! You mean so much to us! - Kyle and Renee
First off, Happy Anniversary!! Second, dumping in the morning with a cup of coffee!? You need to enjoy the moment. Just before sunset layout a blanket next to the sewer hose. Bring out some snacks, adult beverages, and play some music (Don't go chasing waterfalls, my favorite). Nothing more relaxing then the sound of a good dump.
You might want to add a link to the Hughes Autoformers PWD50-EPO Power Watchdog Smart Bluetooth Surge Protector Plus EPO with Auto Shutoff - 50 Amp Portable Version. It is one of the best rated on the market. I like that I can monitor the power with my phone. Plus if you get a big surge, you don't have to replace the unit, just add another $36 module. Safe Travels!
Love the picnic date idea by the dump 😆That sounds like our vibe!
Also great advice on the surge protector, we'll have to look into that some more! Thanks for sharing! 😃~Renee & Kyle
Rv tip of the week. When your steps are not level. Buy some shims from home depot and slide them under. Cheap easy fix.
SUCH a great idea!! Why didn't we think of this? 🧐Thank you so much for sharing! What's your name by the way?

Great to meet you Mark, we hope to hear from you again soon. Thank you for your support, stay safe - Kyle and Renee
@@HappilyEverHanks Stay safe have a wonderful night.
Finally a video where someone actually had a problem with their 50amp connection. I always hear people talk about having surge protector and I even mentioned one time on a huge RUclipsr's video about him not having a surge protector and I pretty got the brush off with his answer because as he said "I've been doing this for years and have never once needed it. It's a waste of money." To me that's not very smart advice because if your power supply gets zapped by a surge of electricity your entire electrical system can get fried. I'm happy you were able to experience the issue first hand and show why it's a good idea to have the surge protector.
I'm coming home soon. The election here went in the wrong direction and it's time to say Adios to Peru. I'll probably be leaving end of August.
Hugs from Logan and me. Thanks again for the fun and informative videos.
Mac and Logan 😊👋🏼Hey guys!! Yes, we actually ran into this problem for the first time and it was unnerving! Glad that we were able to get it addressed, and SOOO glad that we had a surge protector to cover us. Wow, that is a horrible comment from that other person 😕
So glad you are coming home!! Wow, that is really soon actually! Hugs right back at your both, thank you so much for the awesome support that you always show us. You mean so much to us 😊 Stay safe, talk again soon - Kyle and Renee
Good catch kyle....I'm an electrician for 26 years when there is an open ground that means that your rig would not be grounded... so your surge processor is a must...just saying be safe
Wow that makes us feel great coming from an electrician! Thanks Nathan 😃Have a great weekend! ~Renee & Kyle
Your welcome!!!! Sorry the auto spell kicked in ment to say surge protector...
LOL no worries Nathan!! We totally know the struggle 😅Cheers friend! Talk again soon!!
You can always check with multi-meter neutral to the ground to see if you have continuity that will tell you if you have an open ground. You can also check from the outside of the disconnect to the ground plug to see if there is continuity.
You bought a good meter, Klein tools are some of the best.
Thank you so much Jack for sharing! These are all great tips for everybody and we really appreciate the support on our channel! ~ Renee and Kyle
You two are absolutely a blast to watch - dad jokes never get old!

You and Naaa Naaaa make an awesome RV parking team! We have watched many married couples try to pull this off and some of them are ready to sign divorce papers before the rig goes into park. You guys are great. I'm happy to see your lovely wife has this ocean paddle boarding thing figured out. She nailed it! Happy Anniversary!
Yes, I (Renee) am now ready to enter a SUP ocean surf competition! 🤣 Yes, before couples can get married they should have to go through a series of tests and backing a camper should be one of them! Thanks for sharing! 😃~Renee & Kyle

Hahaha 😂🙌🏼 Glad it helps!! You are hilarious Adam 🤣
Just want you two to know I am binge watching your videos. Discovered
you recently and I keep coming back for more. My husband enjoys you,
too. You are so entertaining and uplifting and funny. I greatly admire
that you are also first responders, which makes you heroes. So glad you
have struck a balance in your lives and that you are really living life
so well. My husband and I spent a year out on the road in our 5th wheel
and thoroughly enjoyed it. We hope to be able to do it again. We toured
the perimeter of the USA, starting from our home base in Oregon, to
Idaho to visit our son, and across the upper states (loved Glacier NP
and the upper peninsula of Michigan - want to go back) and into Canada
(the maritimes). Spent quite a bit of time in Maine, down the east
coast, and wintered in Florida. We did that in a 2002 McKenzie Monaco
Medallion 5th wheel (wonderful) from May 2014 to May 2015. We now have a
2017 Highland Ridge Open Range Light 5th wheel. We drove to Wisconsin
to get it in October 2017. We love your adventures.
Awww thank you so much Teresa!! We really appreciate your support and amazing comments 🙂😊 we are so excited to meet you and look forward to meeting you one day on the road!
Sounds like you guys have had a ton of adventures yourselves 😀👍🏼 we are so happy for you both!! Keep living life to the fullest and keep your amazing comments coming!!! We really enjoy reading your comments and side of the journey 🤗
I also binge watch! I'm a few years out to spending weeks on the road, however, I learn so much and will be ready!
Happy Anniversary!
This video has it all... suspense with the electricity, adventure with the paddleboard surfing, tranquility at King's Landing, drama from Dexter, and humor throughout especially the dump tanks!😂 With a good cup of coffee, you can tackle almost anything!
Awww thank you so much!! Yes, there was a LOT going on in this episode 🤣Dexter drama for sure!! So glad you enjoy our goofy sense of humor!! 😂🙌🏼 You bring such big smiles to our faces reading your comments!!

Just bought a Ram 2500 and looking for a 5th wheel to spend our retirement years. Thanks for all the great tips. So much to learn and we’re glad that we found the Hanks.
I’m here!! Happy Anniversary!!!! You got to be kidding me! The paddle boards were discontinued!! I think I’m going to want to take a year off and just travel after all this school is over! Miss all these great adventures!! #LetEr’Rip all the way!!
Hey Nic! Happy Anniversary and Birthday as well! I think we are a day behind but the Hanks are always late! Lol Thanks for stopping by! ~Renee & Kyle
@@HappilyEverHanks you may be late but your fashionable!! Just change the date then we can be twins lol. It’s just paperwork! The heart is what matters.
LOL so true 😁
I ended up buying a paddle board inflator. 60$ and it’s all auto. Set the psi and walk away. Takes 6 min to fully inflate. So far loving it.
Oh what??? I (Renee) still want to get one but in the mean time, if Carl wants to inflate the SUP for me then all is good 🤣Miss you guys! ~Renee & Kyle
@@HappilyEverHanks miss y’all too! We (Nikki and I) are heading to Stone Mountain tomorrow soon as I finish work! Gonna be a LONG day!!! 🤪
That is going to be a long day!! Be safe in your travels!! 😊👋🏼
I always plug in my surge protector to test the pedestal before I unhook from my truck. That way if I need to move I don’t have to hitch back up again.
I’m also getting a generator (an inverter generator) for a few reasons. One of them is because I live in “hurricane Florida” and I want to be able to leave if a big hurricane comes and be able to set up camp anywhere. Many campgrounds fill up quick when a storm like that comes in so I may get stuck without electric. Nope! I don’t camp without electric. 🤣😂
Hey Lori! Thanks for sharing, this is all great advice! Everyone could def benefit from a generator, especially Floridians! Have a great weekend! 😃~Renee & Kyle
Yep, first thing on our list is to plug in surge protector to see if pedestal is ok.
YES!! Love this Janine! 😀👍🏼
We started with a 2000w predator inverter generator, runs great (only $550). Then installed Battle Born Batteries, what a game changer! Then 300 watts of deployable solar. We are able to run everything including a 12v refrigerator. We are now upgrading to 1400 watts on the roof and a 3000 watt multiplus II. You can then boondock more and the system will pay for itself in a short period of time.
This is really great information!! Thank you so much for sharing with us! 😃We definitely want to look into the Battle Born Batteries eventually 😎Sounds like you guys know what's up! What an amazing setup you guys have!!
Teach us your ways 😁Keep these comments coming, we really enjoy hearing from ya!!!
@@HappilyEverHanks Mike from the “Dry Campers”, has a lot of really good videos! To me he is one of the best in the country…
I didn’t know very much when I started either, all I did was study study study
Oh this is really good to know! Thank you so much for sharing!
Yes it’s all about that research 😁👍🏼 The never ending research 😄 hehe
This is great info! We just purchased our first RV (with solar prep) to pick up in October for f/t living. Trying to get my head around best energy sources and investments.
I have a 2016 solitude and I wanted an onan generator installed. Approximate cost for 5500LP generator $4500, plus $1500 for parts, then approximately $2000 to $3000 for labor. This was to expensive in my opinion so I ended up buying 2 onan 4500 portable generators cost for both $ 2300 plus $100 for parallel connection for 50 amp ability. So 9000w instead of 5500w. I decided to mount both generators in bed of truck between cab and 5th wheel hitch. Height matched my bed rails. Temporary locked them down until I get a hard bed cover installed to secure them. I’m extremely happy I went this way over the onan being installed directly in 5th wheel compartment. Easier to service generators, plus can operate on 1 if other needs work. Something you might want to look into as an option
Hey Darrell!! That is so awesome that you are part of the Grand Design family!! WOW you have an amazing set up Darrell! If we start looking more extensively into buying a generator, we will be following what you mentioned here. You sound very knowledgeable! Thank you so much for taking the time to write all of this information out for us and everyone reading 😃🙌🏼
Do you have any big upcoming trips or vacations planned in the near future? Are you looking at going to any Grand Design rally's this year?
Well, I plan to leave Washington state around Sept, travel south for winter. Come spring I want to head to Maine and start working downwards toward Florida. Finally retired and am full time now and want to see as much as possible. Love nature, history and science, so won’t be doing Broadway shows🤣. Ad for Grand Design rally maybe in 2022. Not able this year.
Not criticizing, but with your setup if/when you go somewhere in your truck the trailer is left without power?
Also be aware of possible damage to your truck wheel bearings with your generators running due to a phenomenon called brinneling. Back when new cars were shipped by rail they would sometimes arrive with bad front wheel bearings due to the vibration on the stationary bearings.
Love hearing this Darrell!! You are living life to the fullest and doing it the right way 😊👍🏼We are so happy for you!! Love us some broadway shows as well!! Stay in touch friend, keep these great comments coming!!!
@@jimcollins8097 Your correct that without the truck close to Rv the generators become useless, but the generators are for emergency use (power outages) or for boondocking. Not intended for full time (24/7/365). Even regular generator set up on RV’s are not intended for full time use. As for now vibrating issues, my Diesel engine is like 50 times more then these 2 generators combined. My point was for me I found a cheaper/better/more powerful option then the norm. For the cost difference I could replace the wheel bearings many times over if the vibration were to cause them to fail. Again these generators I purchased weigh only 120 lbs each and any vibration are very minor from what I experience. Thanks for the information tho👍. Never hurts to be aware of possible issues
We experienced a lot with power issues when were boondocking. We have a 2001 Holiday Rambler 34' fifth wheel that has a 240volt 50 amp system. We were told a 5500 watt portable generator would be enough. What we found that was not accurate. The 5500 rated generator would trip off if over 3000 watts. Watts = volts x amps. So we up graded to a 7500 watt generator. Now these portable generators are good for 12 hours of continuous use before they need to shutdown and rest, according to the manufacturer. So we purchased a second generator for 24 hour use. It was nice to have duel fuel generators because propane can stored in larger storage capacity tanks but you can get gasoline anywhere anytime. We had found propane burns about 1 pound per hour where gasoline is closer to 0.75 gallon per hour due to the difference in fuel BTU ratings. Hope that helps.
Aw my hubby is the best!
Thank you so much Brett this is such great information! We have a 50 amp rig as well and we were told a 3000 watt generator would be enough to power at least one AC! I guess we need to look into this some more!
Your hubby is super super helpful!! 😃 ~ Renee and Kyle
I have removed my OLDMEN generator and replaced it with a dual fuel one, and hooked it into my Propane tanks.
I have 1,000 watts of Solar and 400 AMP Hours of Latium B.B.Batteries.
Yes, $5,000 later... I have NO need to find or pay for power... I Bring my own! :o)
Wow!! That is such a SWEET setup 😱One day, when we actually get our stuff together, we will be looking for your advice on what setup to go with 😃Love these deets!! We appreciate you!! - Kyle and Renee
4K pays for a lot of generator fuel. You can make it less efficient and more expensive with Propane, but I can't imagine why unless you have trouble getting fuel.
Hey Tom, yes the Boondocking seems awesome! What kind of rig are y’all traveling in?

Good advice about surge protection. Have you ever heard of hot skin? It’s where there’s a missing ground and the RV becomes “hot”. It can injur/kill. Until we started full timing, we weren’t afraid of much. Now we’re petrified of HOT SKIN. My God.

I heard from another couple that actually lost their electrical due to not having a surge protector, right after beginning our journey began. I’m so glad we bought one, as we have been in Florida for 6 months now, and experience thunderstorms almost daily(especially now that it’s warmer). Thanks for sharing, as I’d rather get advice from others, than from making the mistake firsthand. One more tip regarding FL summer weather esp. We also watched people’s awnings get torn to shreds, while they are away from their sites. I always retract it when leaving ours now, as these storms pop up out of nowhere, and create strong winds. It’s a terrible thing to watch and not be able to help stop the damage. We bought tie downs with springs at the base, that are working great for breezy days, and sites near the beach, etc.Happy travels in FL to you!
Hey John!! Oh my goodness, that is such a bummer...Yes, there are so many thunderstorms right?! You can never go wrong with always bringing your awnings in!! We never leave our campsite before doing so 😊Great ideas with the tie downs! Thank you for sharing John, it's really great hearing from you again 😃 Talk to you again soon! - Kyle and Renee

We use a little Honda 2000iu it runs everything but the air. We have had it about 15yrs and it still runs good. The new ones are I believe 2200i, they will run an a/c with a softstart. But that is probably all at once. Happy camping and keep up the fun videos.
Thank you so much for the suggestion! That sounds like a great set up for a generator we will have to look into something like that. We really appreciate your support, have a great weekend! ~ Renee and Kyle
Awesome looking place and Happy Anniversary
Hey Stephen!! Thank you so much for your continued wonderful support 😃It's so great to hear from you again! Your comments mean so much to us, keep them coming!! Stay safe - Kyle and Renee
Kings landing is cool. The natural springs are a the secret gem of Florida. Look up devils den, Alexander springs, rainbow springs.
We have been to devils den and it was such a blast! We did some diving there! The other springs we need to add to our list. Thank you so much for the suggestions and thank you for watching! ~ Renee and Kyle
Y'all would.live Itchetucknee Springs!!!
Supposed to be love Itchetucknee Springs. Duh... I can't spell today
We've heard of it before! We'll add it to our return to Florida, we missed some stuff list 😆 Thanks for sharing! ~Renee & Kyle
Hey Jamie! Love the Florida Springs! We'll be back for sure!
I have one and mine came with it’s own pump. They are great. If you ever in Phoenix go to No Snow in Mesa. They are a great place to get a new paddle board. Don’t forget to keep pfd handy.
Great info! Thank you Joyce. Never forget the PFD! 😃~Renee & Kyle
18th...lol. You guys are great!! And yes, surge protector is a must! It was the first thing we bought after our RV and before the truck. Lol.
Hey guys!! Thank you so much for your wonderful support 😊🙌🏼Yes, definitely a must for the surge protector! That was not a fun situation to be in..so glad that we have one installed 😅
It's so great to meet you guys, what are your names by the way? What kind of RV are you guys living in while on the road?
MicroAir Easy Start on your A/Cs is my recommendation if you end up installing a generator.
The huge benefit of an onboard genny is being able to fire up the A/C while driving, or when you stop at a rest area for lunch, etc.
So great, we need to look into all of that! Thank you for sharing 😃Keeping the RV cool while we drive to our next destination is a must! ~Renee & Kyle
You guys are awesome. I’m glad that you’re enjoying the beautiful places here in Florida. Thank you for those videos. God bless.

Happy Happy Anniversary!! Maybe buy each other some TPMS as anniversary gifts?
TPMS is on our list! Hopefully soon! Thanks Don for watching 😃 ~Renee & Kyle
When we need to empty the tanks I send my 12 year old son to do it. He’s so handy. Knew we brought him for a reason. 😊
The best part of waking up is Folgers in your cup! 😅.
LOL those folder commercials! 😆Thanks for a great comment! ~Renee & Kyle
LOL 😂🙌🏼 you guys rock!!
Quick RV tip: Always check the top of your slides before pulling them in when you get ready to move and there is no need to climb on the roof. Put your phone on a selfie stick and video across the tops to check for leaves, pine straw and debris. If there is anything that needs to be cleaned use an extension pipe on a battery powered leaf blower to remove it. If you have trash on the top of the slides when you pull them in, it will force it into the seals causing damage and leaks.
This is a really great tip! We have never thought about doing this, we will have to try to give us a trial run 😀🙌🏼 keep these amazing comments! Love your insight and great tips 🙂👍🏼
@@HappilyEverHanks Us old people have to get creative. It keeps us from climbing on stuff and falling on our %$$#@$$.

Another awesome video. We did get a surge protector, at your recommendation. So far, have not encountered the challenge you had....but good to know about. I'll have to ask the hubsters if we have a tester thingy on board - I know we have one for home. Looks like another thing to pack in our hardware kit though! Now, on Renee's question if there are other people who worry that the mechanic will say- it all looks good, or gee, I've tried 50 times to hear/ see that problem and I see nothing... I'm your gal! TOTALLY relate! Also, Renee, I believe in you: keep with the paddle board surfing and you'll get it down :)
Hey Kathy you are so sweet and now I (Renee) have someone to share these anxieties with! I'm no mechanic but something is wrong lol So glad you guys are smart and got a surge protector. We did not have one with our first rig and risked it all! Thanks for sharing and leaving such a great comment ❤️~Renee & Kyle

Looks like a great place we are headed to Destin Sunday.
Have a great time! We love Destin and usually take a ride down 30A to the east and spend a day at Seaside and Watercolor.
Sweet! We loved Grayton Beach SP in that area! Have fun!
Yes!! Destin is such an amazing place 😀🙌🏼
Y'all are absolutely hysterical... Kings Landing is a must.... Good lesson on why having a surge protector is so important!
Yes, Kings Landing was amazing! Definitely paid off having the surge protector as well 😊 thank you so much Jenna!!!

Hi Tarrond! Thank you very much for your support, It's so wonderful to meet you 😃Congratulations on your first camper! What inspired you to buy a camper? What model of camper did you end up getting??
Not on topic but .... are you not worried about alligators while on inflatable paddle boards in Florida.?
Hey there!! It's so great to hear from you 😃Honestly, we were initially concerned about it when first getting to Florida. We quickly found that they don't really bother with you and don't want to be around you. So we feel a little more comfortable with being out on the water.
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment, you mean so much to us with your awesome support 😎👋🏼- Kyle and Renee
What part of Florida are you from Steven? 😀👍🏼
We were able to get the fridge replaced with a residential. It was a nightmare to get into the rig. We barely squeezed it through the door with the doors off, but I am so happy now. It's way more space than my old frige. It works great. It's a project and it's a pain to find one in the right size, but worth it.
Hey Lisa! That sounds like an awesome set up that y’all have! We also have been thinking about upgrading to either residential or a 12 V fridge, it seems like some great options 😀

Happy anniversary 🎉, we were heading out for a weekend in Oct. In central Pa get to the campground as its dark plug in and all the lights were dim go to fire up the heater no heat , earlier in the day had to mess with the battery and hooked it back up the wrong way blew the tiny 2.0 amp fuse in the wall thermostat , got all the lights working that night but went with no heat until the next day , just happend to have that size round glass fuses in my truck ( dumb luck ) pop in the fuse and ka pow!!! We gave heat 🔥 Always have extra fuses with ya! , live and learn.
Thank you so much Dan!! 😃🙌🏼We really appreciate your support! Wow that is crazy that happened! At least you were able to figure it out!! Thank you for sharing with us, we will keep this in mind for sure. You are totally right! Can never have enough back up fuses 🙂Cheers to you Dan, thank you for your continued support and comments. I recommend the Honda EU2200 Companion generator. The Companion model has a 30A outlet, which is great for RVs. Also, if you add a Soft Start, like the MicroAir Easy start, to one of your Air Conditioners, you will be able to run AC on this small 2200 watt generator!
Hey Richard thank you so much for sharing your set up with us! You sound like you know a lot about this, we are definitely taking notes 😃👍🏼
Do you guys currently own one of those easy starts for the AC? Do you know if they’re really expensive or not?
@@HappilyEverHanks Yes, I do have a MicroAir Easy Start installed in my Coleman Mach 15 (in my grand design imagine). They cost $299. By having a soft start module like this, it will allow you to run a much smaller generator. It does this by reducing the locked rotor amperage on your AC's compressor. It works like a charm. If you have any other questions I'd be happy to help.
Wow, thank you so much Richard, that sounds like it’s worth the investment for sure! We will definitely be looking more into this as we start diving into the generator world 😀
We appreciate all your time and recommendations, we look forward to hearing from you again soon Richard!!
How durable are those blow up paddle boards? I'd be afraid of it catching on a rock close to the surface...
They have been super durable so far. We ran over sharps rocks before by accident and they held up just fine. 👍🏼 ~Renee & Kyle

On your aux fans for your fridge, I also added fans for our dometic. I put the fans at the top blowing out. I also installed a baffle to direct the air drawn in at the bottom across the fins. Doing it this way works with natural convection (heat rises), while blowing in at the top is working against natural convection. The baffle stops air from just churning inside the compartment.
That’s great! We’ve heard of people doing the same. We do have two fans in the middle area that blows air upwards but we just installed the extra at the bottom to keep it nice and cool. Thank you so much for sharing this! ~ Renee and Kyle
Kyle, totally awesome job making it look like it wasn't any big deal... You totally handled it like a pro!..

Hey Adam!! 👋🏼
Congratulations on your Anniversary. You 2 are great together. You're both "KEEPERS"!
we installed a remote control dump valve on our rv, if were traveling at night we pull over in the slow lane real far and open the valve or if its in the day we pull over like we have car trouble or something if its not busy and dump, the animals eat it anyway
Okay, we totally thought you were messing with us on this one. And then we looked it up! Very nice and great idea! Thanks for sharing 😃 Is the remote installed somewhere in the tow vehicle or can it just be carried in your pocket? ~Renee & Kyle

Great video as always! Ya’all asked about people’s generator setup?, we run 2 Honda EU2000s. Bought them several years ago. I think the ones Honda sells now are EU2200s or so. Run separately for 2000 watts (runs 1 AC) or hook both together for 4000 watts of power on a 30amp RV outlet. Enough to run both ACs and some other minor electrical things. They weigh 35-40 lbs each and are super-super quiet. Did I say they are super quiet? I’ve heard that if you have soft starts on the ACs (1) will run both units. I have not tried this out. Maybe someone can chime in on this and tell me if it actually works. Anyways, love the channel and the great energy you guys have!
Thank you so much Alan!! Yes, totally love hearing your set up! Thank you so much for sharing this with us 😀👍🏼 would love to hear more about these soft starts, they seem like a great investment to have
The Honda generators definitely seem the way to go 🙂
Just getting caught up with your videos, who would have thought that the day this posted we picked up our 5th wheel after spending a cr*p load of money for a solar panels and Battle Born battery system installation. We LOVE it! We tested it out on our way home from the Reno, NV. installer location, we couldn't find any places to stay so we dry camped at 2 rest areas and a Harvest Host to get back home. If you guys can save up for it, it truly will be worth it. I still say get a small generator too, it isn't always sunny!
Hey Joseph! Thank you so much for sharing this, it’s really wonderful to meet you 😀🙌🏼
We are so happy to hear that you were getting great use out of your solar and battle born battery system!! #GOALS it’s really nice how you can get off grid like you were saying and save some money by staying at Harvest Host or Boondocking for a few nights. Nicely done!
What model of fifth wheel did y’all end up getting? 😃
So, my goal is to get enough solar to run the A/C through the night, coffee maker in the morning, and keep the generator use for the day. I have a 4500 watt Champion inverter generator. Both solar and generators are getting better 👍
That would be so awesome! We really want to start dipping into the solar game as well! Keep us updated on how things progress for you, we can learn a lot from y’all 🙂👍🏼 we definitely can’t wait to invest in a generator one day soon
Our first towable RV was a Predator toy hauler ('05 HD Ultra Classic) and we used a 2000W SILENT Honda generator in the truck bed for dry camp power. It worked well to keep us cool and refer cold. Worked well for us for two years. Westinghouse has a less expensive, more powerful gen that we took as backup in our '94 Coachmen Destiny (38' Class A) for our 5 week trip with our granddaughters. Used that for Wally or rest stop nights for a few hours of quieter power before bed time.
In reference to popping up your paddleboard‘s try a Dewalt 20 V portable air compressor very convenient and strong are you program in the amount of air that you want to put in whatever it is that you are airing up and it will automatically shut off once it gets to that amount that you have free selected. I purchased mine on Amazon works great bikes even to put air in your tow vehicle.
Thanks Barry! That is great information! If you have a link you could share that would be fantastic! ~Renee & Kyle
Happy Anniversary!
Since space is a premium for you being full time, I would recommend an A/C soft start from Micro Air and a 2000 watt inverter generator. That would at least power most of the rig and one A/C.
When I bought my camper I had the Furrion backup camera installed. I knew if I didn't get it right away, I would always talk myself out of the cost (~$500). Having had it for a few years now, I couldn't imagine not having it.
Love all of these recommendations! Thank you so much! We are leaning more towards a generator than solar mostly for price and simplicity. The backup camera may be something we get someday still! Thanks for watching! 😃~Renee & Kyle
@@HappilyEverHanks one underrated feature of the camera is that it also has a microphone and the audio comes through the display, so you don't have to holler at each other if giving some direction. I know a lot of people use phones, but there is usually a delay associated with that communication.
Solar is cool - I don't have any yet, but plan to add some eventually.. But you need to have a lot of solar and a lot of batteries if you ever want to use the a/c in places like Florida. It's almost not practical especially being full timers. A generator will at least get you by until your issue is resolved.
Yes, we have noticed there to be a delay as well. You make some great points Mark! Same with us, we definitely hope to add some solar and get some lithium batteries. Would be nice to get off grid a little more ya know?
Definitely will look into the generator! You got that right...that Florida heat can be killer 🥵Thank you for chatting with us Mark!! Keep these great comments coming, we enjoy hearing from you!! Best to you, stay safe - Kyle and Renee
In a pinch: put a 20A outlet adapter on your30A RV cord plug to use a temporary limited amount of AC power supplied to RV.
Hey Guys! Funny and entertaining as always! FYI we have the external Hughes Watchdog Surge Protector which is Bluetooth so I can check the voltages from my phone. Being on the southeast coast for half the year with coastal storms we feel as you do that it is an essential device for RV life. We also have a solar panel, two batteries and a generator. You would really enjoy having the ability to run stiff off the grid if you had one too. As mentioned we Harvest Host a lot so cranking up the ol’ Onan 5500 for a cup of Bulletproof Joe and the AC while boondocking is a must for us.
BTW I am loving the “The Your Tube” references (LMAO) and I am a Let ‘r’’ Rip guy. Funny how many peeps want to stop and chat while the good stuff flows...looking fwd to the next upload!
Hey Warren! Thank you so much! You have quite the awesome set up and surge protector. It's nice to be able to monitor everything! If we had to choose between solar and generator, which do you think we should go with? Either one, we will still upgrade our batteries! ~Renee & Kyle
@@HappilyEverHanks Good Morning Renee and Carlyle. We actually have both, one solar panel (that I need to upgrade or add to) and the generator. The panel charges the batteries which then power our lights and refrigerator but not much else. It’s great to have the solar to keep our food fresh while on the road, but if yall have to choose one or the other, I would suggest a generator. Be Well!
Carlyle and Renee are sending y’all much love!! Thank you so much for your reply, we will definitely be looking into a generator eventually 😀👍🏼 have a great week Warren! Stay safe!
