Kolkata Doctor Rape-Murder: Broken Legs, Rushed Cremation | ISH News

The tragic case of a doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has taken a disturbing turn with new revelations from the victim’s family. The victim was initially reported to have died by suicide, but the family's recent disclosures paint a much darker picture.
According to the victim's father, hospital authorities first informed them that their daughter had committed suicide and asked them to come immediately. The Kolkata Police also initially labeled the incident as suicide but later changed their stance. The victim's family faced an agonizing wait of three hours before they were allowed to see her body. When they finally did, they were horrified to find her body exposed and showing signs of severe trauma.
The post-mortem report revealed shocking details, including "genital torture" and severe facial injuries. Reports suggest that the seminar room where the incident occurred either lacked CCTV coverage or had its footage destroyed. Netizens are alleging that semen from two individuals was found in the victim's body and that powerful figures might be involved in covering up the crime.
This case has sparked nationwide outrage, with many drawing comparisons to the 2012 "Nirbhaya" gang rape and murder case. People are demanding the death penalty for the accused and those involved in the cover-up. There is a growing concern about women's safety in India, especially in places where they should feel secure, like hospitals.
The hashtag #IndiaDoesntDeserveDoctors is trending, reflecting the dangerous and underappreciated nature of the medical profession in India. The BJP has blamed Mamata Banerjee and TMC for the deteriorating safety of women in West Bengal. In response, the central government has removed TMC and Kolkata Police from the investigation and handed the case over to the CBI.
