Life is all about timing . I was 23 my first family visit to Hungary in 1978.My husband was born and raised in Budapest and we met in Ca;I was a young mother so clubbing etc; in 78 was not on my menu. It was also communist and the one or two times we went out at night we were being followed by undercover agents.Trench coats and all, asked to show our IDs since not many Americans were tourists back then. Now we retired in Budapest and it seems like a ton of fun for younger people. At age 70 my Hungarian experiences are very different.

I stayed on the Buda side. For me it was perfect. Closed to everything and away from the party scene.

Do not invest in Hungary. The legal protection is not there, don’t find out the hard way

A good advice ladies and gents. Strictly avoid conservative Hungarians and get know the educated, open minded ones!

Most of my educated friends are conservative. Majority of the "open minded ones" attended a worthless Mickey Mouse courses somewhere in a CEU-like brainwasher.
