- Camping at Makuya Nature Reserve, Matla Noka and Kruger National Park
Join me for another overlanding adventure in Limpopo. We visit some new spots, wild camp and run into a bit of trouble (again)...
Thanks to Ryan @4x4ventures_southafrica and Ed @EdwardBath for an awesome trip and for sharing footage and drone shots! Speaking of drones, we had special permission to film at Matla Noka, drones are not normally allowed.
Special thanks to Heinrich ( / richter_heinrich ) for all your help with Ryan's car, you're a legend!

So wonderful to get more from you than mere campsite reviews, this enhanced content reflects your amazing videography talents 😊
👌👌👌👌 to know more about Makuya ask Wimpie he knows it well more than anyone.
Great video. One of your best. I enjoy when the 3 of you contribute together
Thanks Craig!
Great as always. I do thoroughly enjoy your adventures. I am back in S.A. first week of March, hope to visit Kruger again. It never gets old as every day is very different.
Thanks Michael! Kruger is always special even if the campsites are more traditional. Tsendze remains my favourite though 🙂
Fantastic, thank you so much for sharing with us.
My pleasure!
Cant believe i watched an entire hour, it really felt like I was of the adventure. Nice one Chris
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it!
Good day. I'm enjoying your episodes here in Botswana in Serowe village just close to Khama Rhino sanctuary. Good production and I'm very happy if your episodes exceeds 50 minutes. Incredible.
Thank you!
Loving these adventures guys. Our interests are so similar yet the wildlife is somewhat different! Thank you all from the Noosa Hinterland Australia 👍💪✌️

Thank you Sir! 👍
Thanks for visiting Venda again.
Excellent video. Definitely going to make a plan and visit these places.
Thanks! I can highly recommend these 👍
22:02 There is just something about camping in a bit of rain 🌧
Even though everything is wet sticky and gotta love wet socks and boots. But man does the coffee gain that special flavor, campfires crackle with extra heat that warms the bones, and man oh man bacon 🥓 and eggs 🥚 🥚 on toast never taste as good.
💯
Amazing footage and coverage. Hope to see you all some time in the outback :)
Thanks! I’d love to do the Canning and the Simpson!
I'm with my '08 4.0L V6 Fortuner Auto with minor upgrades and hauling semi-custom enclosed challenger trailer. Trailer still in progress for upgrade.
Thank you Chris. Very nice … like usual. Greeting from Prague.
Thanks Roman!
A gruelling day in Africa ❤
💯 😉
Yea it’s a great adventure ! The kind I love and living in California I am in the Sierra Nevada range most of the time and travel as we all tend to do to get a fresh perspective , Night backpacking is cool too ! Alone man it’s a different journey as a teen I did often and with friends , We have cougars and bears and I saw believe it or not what’s not suppose to exist coming out one time , Big and hairy and I never backpacked at night again nor said anything except to a close friend who knew I don’t lie, I watch so much to chill vids of Kruger and Sabi Sands regions and feel like I live near there , The foothills near Northern Ca look a lot like some areas there , Really not joking , I enjoyed the site across from Kruger , Have to watch more of your stuff ! It’s awesome and you know adventures are always what makes you feel alive , That poaching deal .. ucks ! We have had issues to with our bears for the Asians use the gallbladder for a aphrodisiac, Yea my ragtop Jeep has clutch issues quite a lot during the time I had it as your friend was mentioning , I always drive my vehicles way beyond what’s responsible ! Ha ha 😅! Not funny really $ , Dont like what you don’t have to waste if you maintain , That winch is a good one ? I had a warn on my Jeep , Mainly making sure the cable is clean with no strands snapping , Finish watching the adventure ! Take Care guys ! Kevin Standow
Thanks for watching!
Awsome. Work near Makuya for 5 years about 15 years back. What a place. Did you book through Limpopo Parks?
Yup, it’s an amazing place! Yes, I’ve dropped the gent that deals with bookings’ contact details in the description as it can be a bit challenging to get hold of them.
Sad the Ranger had hassles - was thinking how surprising it was for the Ford to be the most reliable vehicle of the bunch recently 😂
Wonderful video. We visited Makuya a few times and I would like to know how you manage to camp at Worlds View? As far I know it is not an official campsite.
Thanks Paul! Just book and pay the normal camping fees and ask permission at the gate. Just be sure to remove all refuse and firepits obviously.
@@GetOutGO Thx.
Excellent video guys. Pity about the poaching and state of the ablutions. But looks magical regardless. That looks like a thick-tailed scorpion (with thin claws) so a nasty one! Man do I miss the African bush (I was born in SA and left 5 years ago). The Australian bush is pretty spectacular (there's even a Adansonia baobab species) but the wildlife just does not compare! But if you want remote then Australia is amazing.
Thanks Charles! I wouldn’t mind doing the Canning 🤙
Hi, What happened to the Namibia Trip footage ? Will it still be coming? We enjoy your camping places reviews .
Thanks Schalk! First Namibia episode should go up this Friday on @overlandingescape
How safe is S A now, doing a road trip round Africa in three years when hubby retires, I was born Zambia, hubby never left UK so apprehensive!!
Hi Nola, it's all relative. Certain areas, especially in cities aren't safe (consult locals about your route beforehand). We find that remote areas like these and national parks / game reserves still are though (touch-wood). Botswana is a lot safer and imho still the best African overlanding experience you can have!
Cheers Chris, wondered why you tend to go there a lot
Is la la panze still in Louis trichardt? Used to love that place??!!
I’ve spent the last 15 years going back and forth to KZN, so my view of SA is admittedly tiny compared to Chris’s, but not coming out to SA because of security worries is no excuse. It’s one of the most amazing countries I’ve visited, the people are incredible and we have so many friends out there (from Scotland). Absolutely agree with Chris on being aware and see what locals say, and as for cities - well they are the same the world over. Keep your eyes open and trust your instinct. Go on, book your tickets - you’ll never look back.
Mag dalk n dom vraag wees, maar die Cruiser wat julle die wiele omgeruil het, hoekom nie die groter wiele agter sit en dan die kleiner wiel voor nie? Weet dis ekstra werk, maar logies gesproke maak dit meer sin
Make a turn to Namibia 🇳🇦 too man, want to meet u Edward
We’ve just been 😉 ruclips.net/video/hdNmKwriNpY/видео.html
Chris, please tell me what vehicle you are driving so we can settle an argument between my wife and I
Hi Chad, it's a Toyota Fortuner D4D. Who won? 😂
you should fasten your seatbelt
Our seat-belts are always fastened aside from when we're in parks or reserves. Average speed is 10-20 kph so you definitely don't need a seat-belt.
