I am Nigerian American as well. I just had my son almost 4 years ago and my hair just started breaking and shedding. It lasted for 3 years almost. No matter what I did my hair would not stop breaking. I finally just shaved it off last May and it is growing in so much healthier.
Every mother makes choices for their own children, but those patches would have filled in and then you could’ve evened it out when she was older. Another thing is individual ponytails was pulling the hair away from the areas that were growing in. So I would’ve used a different condition perhaps and left it as natural as possible while it was growing. After all she’s not even two years old yet. And yes, I am a mom. Three girls, three boys and 11 grandchildren.

Putting the baby “back to sleep” causes that area to grow in more sparsely. The first cut is a common practice in many cultures and it was a bonding moment for mom and daughter. Thanks to Mr. David for evening it out. 👍 Should’ve done it sooner, rather than later…there are onlookers who don’t understand and are attached to the length…on a toddler. You are a compassionate, understanding and intuitive person as we clearly saw by your “apology” in French but she is a toddler and one thing we are not going to do is over identify a toddler’s gender by their hair. Brothers will be brothers, lol. Loved it!
Hi Adana ,those patches are the sleep lines but add rosemary oil in her hair lotion .it will help to even the growth .yes you should have done the early shave .but don't worry she will get that BEAUTIFUL for that is her biracial heritage. She is so adorable. Much love from an old fan.

Get the aloe vera plant, blend it in the blender and before you wash her hair but it on and massage her hair, also you can use the blended aloe vera with different oils for her hair but boil all the ingredients together and use it for her hair.
"African" American Auntie here. That's one cultural custom that we didn't continue. In fact due to having to accept our owner's concept of beauty, shaving a woman's head was with done to combat infestation or to promote shame. All 3 of my girls had the same uneven growth & patches as babies/toddlers. Their hair grew in long before they began school It just fills me with shame that I've been brainwashed into believing hair is beauty when your daughter is ABSOLUTELY gorgeous - not because of her hair or lack thereof, but because of her spirit

Cut my daughters curly hair short around 2 and 4 years old, one time because i did not have the patience and did not see the point of long hair for a toddler (i believe they should eat, sleep and play) and the second time because of lice. Both times went to a barbershop and she got a proper fade. It looked fierce.😄 i think the barber assumed she was a boy. Ar such a young age, they are just Kids, no need to beautify their appearance. Otter people feel differently, that's okay too.
