Fun fact you can now put in the move time : -1 instead of 999999 for a infinite duration

@@axiompro123yeah because the rotate trigger takes degrees or rotations and the time you set to calculate how fast it will rotate. That wouldn’t work if it was infinity

Fun fact: you can recreate swing copter like the old swingcopter before 2.2 with ball and blue orbs
Or with a teleport trigger tied to the jump button (with event trigger) without a teleport group set and gravity set to toggle
Or just take green orb at start and give it follow x and follow y
(You can also make it invisible)

Fun fact: On mobile, you can get wave and swing be in classic mode, and when you go in the portal, switch to platformer mode.

1. Make level
2. Press the playtest button
3. Go through wave portal
4. Pause the playtest and go to level settings and set it to platformer.
5. Voilà.
Mini ship would mimick the wave's hitbox better than the regular size imo.

You can use advanced follow to rotate the wave art where it moves
oh yeah since advanced follow is one frame behind it rotates based on your velocity
There's actually a Trigger in 2.2 that automaticly removes Fade In / Fade Out on all objects.
It looks like a block crossed out in a circle.
I'm pretty sure that existed before 2.2
@@Mizu2023 Did it? It looks very similar to another trigger which is only crossed by a single line rather than two, I only recall there being one but I might be wrong.

if it did, absolutely NO ONE noticed so idk ive never seen a circle with an X on it over a default block@@splashmanej3 if it did exist then everyone would be using it because it doesnt take 6 almost 7 years to find out what an entry and exit trigger does.

It would be really funny if you used this in a featured level like “screw you robtop”
For adding the wave visually, Id just make it flip when left or right is pushed (-1 scale trigger), and rotate up when jump is pressed and back down when its released.
Would take a bit of thinking. Since you need to prevent the left input detection when already facing left. But not too hard. The up and down rotation would be harder, since you dont want to overshoot on the way back down if you didnt rotate all the way up. I think there might be a way to make something look at something else? Adv follow?
8:22 I know there's a spawn block that you can use to make the player always spawn on a specific location when they start the level/die /restart, it's the same thing that robtop did in the second level of The Tower (the cube spawns from the pipe)
I feel like there’s no real reason robtop couldn’t add swing in platformer. It can’t be much harder than ship or ufo, right? I mean, you can do the classic duel ball thing in platformer mode and it works just fine. Maybe there’s something I’m not seeing, but I think swing should be in platformer.

GDPS editor 2.2 addded it, but it behaves like the ball so its almost useless
Both the wave and swing were implemented at some point, but it just felt janky to him so he ended up not adding it.

i think all gamemodes should be added in platformer, i think the wave should act normal, moves down when you dont hold and you can go left and right, i dont know why robtop didnt add the swing tho, it would be so easy to make it work in platformer.

Swing is just really annoying in platformer mode. Wave is just incredibly broken, buggy, and un intuitive. Rob said he has a different plan for wave in platformer mode.
swing copter with platformer would just act like a ball, wave is a little unpractical and not the best but it should be added
In megahack theres the option to enable all modes in platformer. Wave and Swing are not fun. The swing is basically just the ball in platformer and the wave is broken as hell

Bug fixing is a necessary part of adding new things to a game
Wave and swing works in platformer (Just in editor tho) Set the game to classic, put a wave/swing portal, playtest till you get to the portal, pause the playtesting, change the mode to platformer and gg
and the swing works perfectly
To check if 2 different things are held, you can put 2 collision blocks with a 1 block gap in-between. When you do one of the two actions, a move trigger can move one of the collision blocks to the center where it is empty. However, nothing happens since they aren't touching. Once both blocks are in the center, whatever you put to activate in a collision trigger activates.
you can be the wave in platformer if you play as any gamemode in the editor, pause, and then go to the options and choose the wave. i think you have to be in normal mode, and then choose platformer mode together with the wave. you can also do this with the swing, but im not sure if its been fixed.
thing is, there's no reason the wave wouldn't work in platformer. the way I would see it as, would be that it would kinda be like if you were playing snake or pacman for example, you press a direction and the character travels in that direction until there's another input
Fun fact: it is possible to make an actual wave design with rotations using event trigger. i have done same thing this night

The physics aren't the same as in the 2.2 gdps tho (in the gdps/beta, the player would only move on the Y axis if he was moving on the X axis), which kinda made the wave gamemode unique in platfomer, but its still a nice recreation!
Also the swing copter would actually be easier to recreate than the wave. it would only require a touch trigger/toggle orb, gravity portals that would toggle on and off depending on the inputs and a gamemode with a similar gravity, (and a gravity trigger if necessary)
Why not just... Green orb
@@SomeCowguy green orb makes you "bounce" slightly, which is terrible for straight fly. the gravity portals make you slowly take your normal gravity, like the swing copter
You can use a collision block system to detect which buttons are being pressed to make the wave rotate
or keep using event triggers, detecting if 2 events are happening and then choosing what state of the wave to display
You can checl the "non stick x" in the groups tab so it doesn't send you flying in the direction you're holding

I played a fangame called mania dash a couple of years ago just went back to it and the wave literally behaves like this except that if you release it doesnt do anything but if you click s or down it will make the wave go down, we need a down button in gd platformer to map it to anything
fun fact: in the gdps version the platformer wave worked like this: u can move left and right but if u move somewhere while holding you go up as long as u move
Fun fact: there is a bug (working as of now) where you can do platformer wave/swing by setting a portal of wave or swing (LEVEL MUST BE PLATFORMER) click the little play thing that shows your trail behind you click the pause and then switch the level to classic and once you go into the portal of wave/swing pause the thing again and switch it back to platformer. Have fun with this random thing I found. :D

The fact that sdslayer made the aughhhh sound so accurate in 2:41
What was causing the blocks to move in a different speed compared to the player was that you had them locked to the player x movement which already makes it follow the player, but then you added additional movement to it on the Mod X.
You should of made it mini so it has more accurate hitboxes.
Also good job, it plays better then I thought it would👍
The reason for the respawn bug is that the spawn group moves with the box, and the game seems to respawn the player before moving objects back to their beginning positions. I learned this while trying to make an autoscroller.
It's sad to see the touch trigger is now dead. Ot was one of my favourite triggers 😢
RobTop should add Wave and Swing to Platformer mode, for the sake of full freedom when creating levels.
robtop said that those modes just wasnt fun but that he'll do something about it later

Wave in platformer should play like the snake game. this just seems PERFECT for its gameplay.
You can use the hide player trigger and just have some blocks that look like the wave follow the player, add some triggers so that it rotates if thats possible, add some color channels for the color..
and bam the wave is now in fucking platformer mode.
If you dont know, you can actually set the gamemode to the wave in the editor by placing a wave portal and going inside it in Classic, then setting mode to Platformer, it just lets you be a wave.

I made plat swingcopter with the dual + blue orb + ball with platformer (the one people use to make swingcopter when swingcopter hasnt been released.

You can make a close wave recreation by using the old ball green orb method
Try the UFO blue orb method too, it's the way the community suggested the wave gamemode idea to RobTop(IIRC)
the original one locking to the player didnt work because when it pushes you, it sees that your going faster, so the thing locks to the player and goes even faster, until its so fast it just launches you out.

The reason you weree going flying is because when you move right the box pushed you, adding to your momentum making yougo faster which means the box would push you harder wtch leads to an infinite loop of speed
Idea: For the wave, make it just free move(like the undertale soul)

for the up and down you could have just had it always moving down while in the air then when the button is pressed it moves up twice as fast.
It can works on swingcopter and wave:
1st:use plat. Then go to portal that not allowed to plat.
2nd:use the normal
3rd change to plat. Then see the result

if robtop made a platformer wave I really REALLY hope that he adds 4 key movement for it so that you don't automatically go down when you dont hold the up key but rather that a down key would be added so that you could control the wave fully with wasd, (it would be cool for bullet hell levels) but I also hope that blocks aren't automatically lethal for platformer wave but that it functions like a D block

You can easily jail player 2 by using spawn group in the jail and then adding a teleport trigger with touch enabled The teleport trigger forces P2 to stay in place but teleports P1 to the target of the trigger.

i feel like in the context of platformer mode, making wave mode is kinda redundant.
You can achieve almost the exact same movement with jetpack mode. Well not exactly the same but you can maneuver around obstacles regardless of mode.

found a way to get out of the level. get some progess, then pause it, then get rid of the checkpoint and restart. You will skip the level, at the cost of never being able to get to the end xd
Make dash but every 2.2 visual feature slows it down by 5%, and every non 2.2 orb and portal increase the speed by 5%.
The wave is way too good for platformer to not include it! Def should be an actual gamemode wtf

I think the wave should work like a top down game. Move right to turn right and move left to turn left. Jump to move forward.
or add a new system with an up down left and right button to move the swing

Ok, so here is how to actually do it.
Make a level with wave game mode in classic mode..
While playtesting with wave mode, pause and change the mode to platformer..
Switch back and you got a platformer wave!
Same with the swing.
im no gd triggers professional but couldnt you use a follow trigger? and also maybe putting a block only on the bottom and top and not on the sides maybe could have fixed that bug u had of the cube moving forever
