I'm biostatistician doing research for public health and work at health center. We had to deal with covid19 it was terrible. Our hospital got swamp, one of my PI is a doctor in the ED/ER department. She's a mother and she had to deal with so many cases. She was worried she may catch covid19 (this is before the vaccine was available). She got 3 daughters, the youngest is going to college soon. I'm glad you post this and it is so awesome of you to talk about this and about getting vaccinated.

If you are elderly your risk of death or serious illness with covid is 1 in 8. If you have to go to the hospital at all, you are at elevated risk of dying or serious complications ( usually from clotting ) for 90 days after discharge.
My parents are in their late 70s. We have all had the vaccines as have our extended families. And because of where we live and our backgrounds eveyone in our network had at least one vaccination. We know of no one in our circle who died from covid.
The same cant be said Herman Caine or judging by all the posts that were on Facebook.
I live in WA state one of the earliest states hit. We masked for a long even after De Santis FL declared it over. After the Delta wave hit, even though WA had one of the earliest outbreaks, our total per capita death rate over the two years was lower than Florida's
Idaho decided to drop their mask ban right before Delta and they almost had to begin triaging and sending the sickest home to die while their Gov was crowing how great ID was. They were sending sick people to WA state filling our hospitals with their pigheadedness. Worried about another possible surge WA governor was debating turning them away unless they brought back maskind and testing.

You should have avoided the hospital.
