I've had tinnitus for over 25 years. I went through all the stages 1-4...I got to stage 4 after about a year. I still have some hours where tinnitus blares to 9+/10 through a typical week, but I know it doesn't define me so I push through and it eventually settles out to a 2 or 3/10 . You will reach a point of being habituated to it, dont dispair! Calm yourself, document your triggers. Exercise and eat right, it does help.
I love it when it rains !!

Does your dad have it too? My dad’s had it for almost 60 years since he was a toddler. Unfortunately I got it too. It’s been almost 20 years since I had it. I went through countless therapies and met countless docs and none of them could help me with it. I think genetic also plays a huge role in tinnitus.

This is exactly my trajectory! It started, I became freaked out by it, I started sound therapy, and over time I noticed it less and less. Today, I can go days without even noticing it. Occasionally, it will scream for attention, but I just disregard it and forget about it again. The process took about 2 years in total. At this moment, I can hear the two-toned sound, but in a few moments, it will fade into the background again. From my pov only and from my experience only: the key is not to attach too much anxiety/panic to the sound! Thanks for all you do, Ben!

I'm 8 months into this nightmare and what you described is pretty much how I handle things. I use maskers with my phone apps and things are much better than when it started

Yes my experience has been basically the same. First few months were hellish. Even after a year I was still bothered but nowhere near as much, now closing in on 2 years and it’s still there but I don’t get bothered and often go long periods without being bothered. It definitely takes time!

Sensio-neural - sudden hearing loss in one ear. It came back completely with steroids - very lucky, but tinnitus was the legacy effect.

I have suffered from tinnitus in my left ear with left side hemiplegia as a result of a pontine stroke which occurred during open heart bypass surgery in 2016. I had been a lawyer and law professor for forty years until I was unable to walk, talk, swallow or count. Thank you for your help and videos that help me sleep and your efforts to address this problem.

Had it for a week, its still there, but it feel managable, you jsut accept it as the sound of your body functioning. Sorry for those who cant, but the first night i couldnt sleep a single minute, now, i dont even need sleepign pills or background noise. And thats a week alter. Im hopeful. First week was hell

I realise now that as a child, what I thought was general suburban & industrial background noise was actually tinnitus. It was most noticeable at night. Well, its only gotten worse over the decades. I gave up cycling as wind noise made it noticeably worse & increased fitness caused pulsatile. Stopping cycling & loosing fitness made the pulsatile fade away. But the continuous tinnitus continues to worsen. I am an armature musician, playing quena & zampona. I use hearing protection, still music remains a problem for tinnitus, I don't want to have to give up my music but recently I have developed a harmonic buzz, like a loose and rattling speaker in my left ear. So I think I will have to stop with music to save what remains. The tinnitus is so loud that I sometimes miss what people say as its lost in the tinnitus background noise now. I can get nowhere with the medicos or audiologists on any of this.
Tried some sound therapy (tones whit noise etc), doesn't help.... I'm 65 & it's getting worse faster now.

I habituated my tinnitus about 5 years ago. But I hurt my back and took painkillers for several years, then when I quit painkillers the tinnitus came back. I'm in the process of trying to habituate again

My tinnitis seems to be related to my TMJ in my jaws. As soon as I start to hear a buzz in my ears, I open my mouth as wide as I can and hold it open until the buzz stops. It usually takes about 30 seconds.

Never needed medical help for my Tinnitus. Just ignored it because it's just a sound. Having cancer or a other severe health problem would be something to worry about, not the 14K Hertz heartbeat bumping sound in my ear. At least now I always now that my heart is still beating !

If any of you people are going get surgery on your esrs then you should try a neck pillow, lay it flat and not around your neck, it will keep you from sleeping on your ear.

I have had tinnitus for 11 years. Within a year I habituated with sound therapy. For years it was manageable. 7 months ago I woke up with pulsing in my ear. I now have pulsatile tinnitus and an MRI showed nothing. I am now waiting for a CT scan. I have days I can forget I have it for periods throughout the day but it is still very frustrating and annoying. Much different from the normal tinnitus.

I have had tinnitus for 41 years now and it all started the day After Not the Same Night I went to see a Rock Concert (Saxon, UFO in 1982). I have had hearing aids since last October 2022 and I was under the impression that the place I went to to get these hearing aids I was told that I would need to come back so they could be adjusted for my tinnitus using my cell phone but that didn’t happen and I don’t know what to do about my tinnitus anymore because it’s pretty Loud ! I have been using a boxed Fan Every Night when I go to bed long before I knew there were other ways to at least try to get the sound level down so I don’t Notice it as much ! I really Would Like Some Help With This If Possible !!!

My tinnitus started in 2019. I have tried numerous strategies and get nighttime relief with various YT long videos. Crickets and running water seem to help the most. One strange thing, though. It is always louder right after I do the Wim Hoff Method breathing exercise. Can’t figure that one out. Any thoughts?

1969 -8” howitzers Vietnam been ringing since then. Been living with it. I don’t like them telling me about masking with white noise or music. I’m gonna live with it until a REAL cure comes along or until I die. I do meditate and that does help. But I’ll know when I’m dead. My ears will stop ringing😂
