    Hi Joshua, good introduction.
    I‘d like once a comparison of methodists and pietists.
    Because on my point of view they share very similar development. Methodists originated in England, Pietists originated in Germany.
    Both movements criticised their protestant churches and in 17th/18th century they have been participated on that time top notch scientific, philosophical and social disputes. (Today almost nobody does recognise it anymore)
    From both branches immigrants took their traditions towards the United States.
    So this would be pretty informative to US people and worldwide protestant audience, because of its influences on science & education and politics of the 19th century and beyond.

    • @ronobvious1785
      @ronobvious1785 3 года назад +3

      When it's all said and done LGBTQ(insert other appropriate letters and symbols here) will likely match slavery in terms of schism. It's already broken the largest Lutheran, Presbyterian, and Episcopal churches apart. It would've already done so to the Methodists but a global pandemic delayed the vote. It's breaking the Church of the Brethren apart right now but they're small so there's no coverage of this. The day is coming when it will hit the Southern Baptists too.

    1: The historicist method (aka the historical or the continuist method) favored by the majority of protestant reformers for about 400 years - roughly the sixteenth through the nineteenth century.
    2: The allegorical method which may have originated as early as the second century A.D. but was not used by a significant minority of scholars in predominantly protestant countries before the nineteenth century.
    3: The futurist method was suggested by Francisco Ribera, a Spanish Jesuit theologian, during the Council of Trent (1545 to 1563) as a way to counter the protestant reformation. John Darby said he was influenced by Francisco Ribera when he (Darby) combined dispensationalism with futurism in the nineteenth century. Darby’s interpretation of the prophecies of the Bible was not popularized until the publication of Cyrus Scofield’s Bible Notes - first edition 1909.
    Have you made a video - or would you consider making a video - about which denominations favor which of these (or/and other) methods of Bible interpretation?

    I was in a Free Methodist church where the pastor was heretical and questioned whether hell was eternal, and was an evolutionist who quoted more from movies and popular books than the Bible. Sadly, this heretic was in good standing with the conference superintendent, and wasn't removed. I must corect this video. The Free Methodists have not held to the belief in the inerrancy of scripture for many decades. In fact, the Wesleyan Church was going to merge with the Free Methodists, but they held off due to the Free Methodists refusal to believe in Biblical Inerrancy.

    In Chile the largest and the majority churches are pentecostal but from Methodism and I know can say we are almost equal to Bible methodists just difference than we are pentecostal, but not charistmatic.
    But in organization is more like Free Methodists, we have bishops and a strong structure, different kind of pastors (presbyters, deacon, "pastors under test") and laypeople can pastor a church (called like "manager of church" ) but under the support of a pastor and then can become a pastor, deacons for each local churches, etc.

    Some Pilgrim Holiness churches didn't join with the Wesleyan Methodist Church to become part of the Wesleyan Church because they viewed the Wesleyans as too worldy, with TV, women having short hair, etc. There are two Pilgrim Holiness denominations, the Pilgrim Holiness Church ( used to be called Pilgrim Holiness Church of the Midwest) and the Pilgrim Holiness Church of NY. It is a small denomination of largely small churches. They remain against wedding rings and makeup. They require sleeves that are long enough to cover the elbow (although I've seen a few photos of people in regular short sleeves, depending on the location, many seem to follow the rule). And they go further than John Wesley and prohibit all remarriage after all divorce, even if the cause of divorce was for Biblical grounds, like adultery. I think they have zeal for the Lord but are a bit legalistic on the sleeve length and remarriage issues.

      Can you give more clarity as to what do you mean by “Methodism IS is the only …. who believes in holiness.” All Evangelicals in one way or another believe in holiness. Some will believe it in an “imputed” way, I could be wrong; these will be more of our Reformed/Calvinist/Baptist Brothers and Sisters. Moreover, most of those that come from a Wesleyan Doctrinal Heritage will believe in an “imparted” view holiness. Therefore, what do you mean by that? Methodism is not the only Wesleyan movement in Christian History. Two major churches within The Wesleyanism movement are The Wesleyan Church and The Church of the Nazarene. However, it would be unwise of me to do a blanket statement that no other church believe in “holiness.” Can you give more clarity? For example, one of my best friends is a brother who is a KJV only independent Baptist and his church puts a heavy emphasis on holy living. While they reject the teaching of entire sanctification, they teach biblical holy living. A good book on the subject matter is called “5 views of sanctification” the general editor is Stanley N. Gunter by Zondervan Publishing.
