In them, due to Alternate Parallel Universes having Similar yet Different objects, Chaos Emeralds (Brilliant Cut) were replaced with Sol Emeralds (Emerald Cut) [Cut is the shape of the gem, Brilliant Cut is usually how Diamonds are depicted, Emerald Cut are rectangular gems]. The difference being that Chaos Emeralds use Hopes and Dreams to become Infinitely Powerful, where Sol Emeralds use the element of Fire (thusly their name Sol = Sun) because Blaze is a Pyrokinetic. They're custom tailored to Blaze because the gems aren't just Fair Game in her universe (Chaos Emeralds hiding away in Special Zones that anybody can hunt for), they're SPECIFICALLY hers (under her supervision, they even come with a little gem case!) Although they still act like Chaos Emeralds in that they'll gladly ruin the Space Time Continuum just because they feel like it.
You can see it's busted power in Sonic 3 in her Hyper Form (excluding the walls that blocks you to go to Knuckles' route, it can destroy everything else, and also can help you to make the Death Egg boss that needs you to play with the gravity a joke as it cannot deal with a barrage of hammers you can throw, also just like Tails, Amy cannot go to Doomsday Zone... but outside Debug Mode shenanigans, you can use her in the Time Trial mode in said stage.
Hidden Palace Zone was scrapped due to time constraints. A good amount of the zone was done before being scrapped. You can actually play a bit of it in one of Sonic 2's beta builds.
Yeah, Sonic 2 was supposed to be the “time travel game” but due to time constraints they decided to use the idea in CD. So lots of zones were scrapped, it’s very interesting.

There's, like, eight checkpoints in Emerald Hill Zone (3 in Act 1, 5 in Act 2), so it's entirely possible to have a Super form for every boss in the game, especially with Origins' coins that let you retry the special stages.

Eggman mentions he will dig up the whole island if he has to. So Labyrinth Zone being under the base is probably due to his strip mining the island to find the Chaos Emeralds.

You can change the emeral count to 7 in the level select menu on Sonic 1 by pressing up, down, left, right at the title screen to achieve super form. You can change shields to Sonic 3 elemental shields as well.
Lorewise, the Labyrinth Zone was the sewer system that the city for Star Light and the factory for Scrap Brain was built on top of. So the final zone's lab having Scrap Brain 3 being a Labyrinth re-palette'd sort of makes sense. This also assumes that the South Island map shown in Sonic 1 for Game Gear/Master System is the correct map.

Sonic Origins seems to think that Amy is Tails, which is a odd bug. This is why the game doesn’t tell you that she has a super form with the normal emeralds, and says she goes “super” with the super emeralds.
The bit that always scared me as a kid was the part in Hill Top zone when the floor would start moving up and the lava would rise to crush you if you wasn't quick enough.

Supposedly, Scrap Brain Zone Act 3 was going to be in the zone's underbelly, like the waste dump/sewers. So it was going to have water. But they didn't have time to finish it and had to use the Labyrinth tileset instead.
It is technically possible to get the 7th emerald in Sonic 1. Enter the level select cheat code and the option to toggle it is right there. It even carries over to the full 'story mode' thing and adventure mode

I’m pretty sure Hidden palace was originally where you would go to unlock super sonic after getting all the emeralds. You’d beat the stage and then unlock it, but they decided to scrap it a bit into development.
I can’t remember if that was confirmed though. It may just be a theory (though there is stuff to suggest it might be real)

9:46 the lore is that labrinth zone is beneath scrap brain, which means that labrinth zone (or some of it) is under scrap brain and eggman knew that to screw over the player
Someone else probably explained it long before me, but Scrap Brain act 3 was done for time constraints. It was meant to be different but being short on time, they reused Labyrinth.
Sonic Origins seems to think that Amy is Tails, which is a odd bug. This is why the game doesn’t tell you that she has a super form with the normal emeralds, and says she goes “super” with the super emeralds.

Btw, Hyper Amy is a thing in Sonic 3, and it’s mislabeled as Super Amy. She can throw infinite hammers by pressing a certain button
The bit that always scared me as a kid was the part in Hill Top zone when the floor would start moving up and the lava would rise to crush you if you wasn't quick enough.
25:33 It's a glitch. They take away your rings as Knuckles which they shouldn't but most of the time they let you keep them as any other character. Thanks SEGA for breaking the game again. Tell them to check the original release again.
the skateboard part in icecap and doomday zone is only for sonic also amy does in fact have a hyper form which allows her to throw her hammer
I didn't know Choc was going to run through the Sonic classics again! Good stuff! These were some of my favorite games as a kid! These games cemented my love of video games at an early age. The inclusion of Amy is great! I just think it would have been hilarious if in Sonic CD you would see Sonic get kidnapped if playing as Amy. 😄
Supposedly, Scrap Brain Zone Act 3 was going to be in the zone's underbelly, like the waste dump/sewers. So it was going to have water. But they didn't have time to finish it and had to use the Labyrinth tileset instead.

It is technically possible to get the 7th emerald in Sonic 1. Enter the level select cheat code and the option to toggle it is right there. It even carries over to the full 'story mode' thing and adventure mode
