In the original show, Bloom's backstory makes more sense. She is adopted and her Dad is a firefighter who rescued her from a burning house. They assumed she was left orphaned from the fire so the firefighter adopted her.
It also feels more touching. Vanessa is a good woman in the cartoon, unlike in this show, she's a basic bitch who thinks she's better than some weird loner (just like Bloom said).
@@simplesimply3753 My dad left to get milk, and I used to dream I'd get a stepfather who'd embrace me as a daughter figure right away like Bloom and her dad when I was young. I've seen a bunch of clips and reviews, but I have a hard time actually going to watch the show, because I can't stand watching Bloom's parents now.
The main problem is branding this as a Winx Show, if it wasn't branded that, at least we wouldn't have to put up with the changes to the cartoon we loved
Its all fun watching these bad shows get trashed on youtuber but I'll never people who actually sit through these garbage shows. Like how do yall do this
The moment from winx cartoon I remembered for life: When Stella got "ugly" and was worried her boyfriend would stop loving her. Then, someone puts a spell on him making him only see her inner beauty and personality instead of her physical appearance, but Stella is still worried. It turns out he still likes her because her personality is beautiful. I was like 10 and that was deep bruh
ruclips.net/video/-rlOvYPQhNc/видео.html just for the nostalgia I'll put it here, but the plot was the spell on Brandon never worked and he knew she was a monster the whole time but didn't care
The funniest thing for me was how Stella and Sky's relationship was called codependent and toxic multiple times without showing us actual evidence of that but Sky and Bloom's relationship was portrayed as this 'epic romance" when its not just toxic but abusive too.
What do you mean it's toxic and abusive to drug my crush/boyfriend because he wants to stop me from doing something really stupid that would result in putting the whole school and so many lives in danger?
Hate that this series decided that two females can’t be friends and HAVE to fight about a man when in the show each girl supported one another and didn’t have ridiculous boy problems
exactly! earlier cartoons had such healthy female friendships. I don’t know why it’s a running trope these days that girls have to fight in order to be friends.
When Bloom said to Sky about ‘Mansplaining’ I had to pause the show and literally cringe out of embarrassment💀 like sis he’s literally trying to help you out cause you’re lost on your first day of school
the phrase that lives rent free in my head now and describes the show perfectly is "why do you try so hard to appeal to progressive audience after you just went ahead and whitewashed the most of the cast??"
That girl was a mess. I got so pissed that she was acting up unnecessarily. Like who wrote her character, do teenagers act like this!!!! Almost lit her parents on fire
He wasn't even mansplaining, at least use it right. Also, it would make more sense if they actually made the series in the timeline of the early 2000's, as I originally was
@@lissevandiepen3399 Not really, though. They dress them like they're 30 instead of 16. Actual 16 year olds, in 2020, wouldn't be caught dead in anything they're wearing. I mean Stella is supposed to be a fashionista but she dresses like my mother. Still, I would have forgiven all of the shows sins if they just went for a proper fairy transformation from the cartoon, with the music and sparkly dresses. Shame they didn't have the balls to do that.
@@lissevandiepen3399 let's just agree on the fact that they should've at least copied their styles If the haven't copied anything in the cartoons but blooms red hair.
I don’t know if anyone has said this, but my main problem with this show is Bloom. I can’t stand her. She is presented as a supposedly feminist character addressing mansplaining or whatever, but she also puts down other women referring to them as basic bitches and other pejorative terms. That’s not feminism. Also, the ways she treats Aisha and the others. She acts like the center of the world and only thinks of herself. She literally puts her desire for truth above EVERYONE’s lives and doesn’t even acknowledge that. Also, the way they treat Aisha as if she did something wrong, she was the only one with common sense, and the only one that knew Bloom was acting selfish and confronted her. And Bloom ends up being the hero, she didn’t deserve it. Sorry for the rant, but I despise her character.
Yesssss!!!! Thank you!! I hated Bloom the most. I get she’s dealing w/ her shit but come on priority. Just like Aisha said, she’s being selfish. Plus there was no consequences to Bloom’s actions and no one apologized to Aisha. I hated it!
This, exactly this. She is awfully selfish and her main-character-itis is showing. In the original show, if this had happened, she would have seen Aisha as trying to help her, not trying to antagonize her, because they are friends. And sure that isn't as "dramatic" but heck it's a lot less cringey and makes Bloom a likeable and realistic character. But no. Make her do something selfish and then get praised for it
But she wasn't addressing mansplaining though she was just being rude to someone trying to give her directions when she was going the wrong way. Like it doesn't matter if it was a dude you needed help and he was there and tried to give it to you. You just say thanks and move on.
I- does anyone remember that bloom actually had a great relationship with her parents like she wanted her parents to come with her in the original show 🤦🏼♀️
I know and it sucks! Seems like all the parent-child relationship in TV-shows are really bad and unhealthy because the writers want to "relate" to angsty teenagers or something that never get along with their parents but I think it's much more fun to see an actually good family that cares for each other.
I don’t HATE it either but I was hoping for a bit more lore to flesh out the realm a bit, I still forget that they’re not on earth. They don’t really showcase that aspect and I feel like they’re somewhere in Sherwood Forest but that’s just me. That and Bloom just irritates me and I like red head characters 😄
i am okay with them. People are just too butthurt and they LOVE to complain. If this show was filmed 15 years ago, it would've been dope. But now everyone complains about a snack-series of 5 hours. Like.. who cares. I want netflix to keep them coming. it is fun to watch such a predtictable and basic teen show sometimes.
@@akhsdenlew1861 It’s okay if you like them, but you can’t expect people NOT to complain when they turn a lovable kids show about women’s empowerment to and edgy-teen drama that brings absolutely NO justice to the original show. In my opinion, they should have just made it a separate show, not a live-action adaptation of Winx.

@TK Clarke no don't give then any idea please the next thing we will see is them whitewashing the main character and turning his bestfriend into some gang leader. With drugs, s** and all kind of nonsense.
I'm just so tired of media making angsty teen shows. Just because a lot of us are struggling mentally doesn't mean we don't want happy, fashionable shows with HEALTHY relationships. Also the treatment of Stella- Honey no.
Definitely. And you can handle adult themes in a light-hearted show, it doesn't have to be all angst and doom and gloom. I mean, the original show also had some serious themes and it didn't clash at all with the glittery fairy outfits and magical girl transformations.

Cartoon Winx: purple boarding school, bright sunny days, colourful saturated palette Live action Winx: brown school, dull palette, might as well be Hogwarts
Getting kind of tired of the main character trope that consists of an introverted girl who hates being social, hates dressing up and would rather die than go to a party. Where's the main character who LOVES parties, being chaotic and dressing in cute little outfits? They're always delegated to being the introverted main character's best friend or worst enemy/high school bully.
I mean the one person's acting i actually liked was Beatrix and she was 17 when this was filmed. But yea most of it was ridiculous gives me "Hello fellow kids" vibes
Its also funny because the real characters from the original have actual great personality and diversity like Musa was Asian and Flora has brown skin Like they ruined the main story plot ,character designs.
You know, it may have something to do with union laws for actors under vs over 18 (?) If they have night shoots for example, those under the age may not be allowed to shoot those, or are only allowed to do so with very very strict rules (number of hours they're allowed to shoot over the span of 24 hours). Take for example Smallville. Tom Welling started when he was 23/24, and was supposed to be a freshman in high school. At a convention a year or so ago, it was brought up that there was a day back in the early seasons where he ended up working for 20 hours. Now, for ANYONE regardless of age, working for 20 hours is insane. But when children are involved (or those under a certain age), it's even more problematic. So I'm wondering if it has to do more so with union rules and regulations. It's probably a similar explanation for scenes involving drugs and sex. I also wonder about what hoops legal has to go through for the Stranger Things kids. Incidentally, why not do a review for Stranger Things, @Alex Meyers ?
Why does Hollywood feel the need to take every lighthearted kids show, strip it of everything that was good about it, and turn it into some cringed angsty teen drama? This remake would have been SO much better if they didn’t try to make it “edgy”
Exactly. And what’s with the ugly ass clothes? Half of the Winx’s charm was because of the gorgeous styling and visuals. Even though it’s a cartoon, it’s not hard to find some colorful or pastel or just fun clothing.
@@maryphantomhive7310 The main premise of the show was the transformations and fashion aspect. Taking that away literally makes no sense, I have no idea why they tried to make a show about fairies and taking away everything that makes them fairies??? This show is hella weird lmaO
I read that the writers of this show literally had no pre-existing knowledge about the franchise. Because oh yeah, THOSE are the kind of people who should be writing a spinoff.
@@Rowankeenanx3 yeah that is very true :) i just think its funny how in every movie thats usually based on a regular teen (at least, at the start) they dress quite differently. that would have been so cool to see tho!
The worst part for me was how Aisha had nothing going on outside of Bloom. At some point she struggled with her magic but they never explain why or how she got past it. Everyone else had something else going on but her. Not even a backstory or anything.
Aisha in the original animated show was a kickass princess of her realm. She was willing to sacrifice herself for pixies she was rescuing and her world when a portal to magical prison got out of control. She gave up a chance to be healed from being blinded by the bad guy in season 3 to heal the queen of her world's mermaids from death. She struggled with persistent loneliness when she joined Winx and felt like an outcast. She rescued her cousin from death by using her magical Sirenix power wish to save him and not her fiancé who died just the season before. Fate Aisha is just... A shell without a real soul.
Exactly,it was all about Bloom and helping her even when she got selfish. I thought Bloom was going to cheer her up and encourage her during the time she was struggling with her powers but nothing...
YESSSS At some point in the show there was a hint that she wasn’t okay, that she had problems with her magic and that she needed to be cheered up, and at the same moment Bloom was angsting over something again, and Aisha (as it seemed to me) was not happy about how her new-found friend was just ignoring her for the sake of her own stuff, and I was quite sure it would be one of those moments about friendship and how sometimes you have to look after those near you, but no, no, they just glazed over it and didn’t even acknowledge it and in the end they collectively blamed Aisha for BEING SELFISH because she had tried to help them all and in fact did (when she called the adults), and I was so angry and disappointed omg I can’t even-
@@EnchantingWings1 Yes to everything you said!! It pisses me off how everyone just forgets that Bloom almost killed the entire school. She faces no repercussions whatsoever for liberating an evil fairy and for putting everyone's lives at risk
Literally! She kept making everything about her and honestly it was really irritating how it was okay that she endangered the school like that just because she’s a “special” fairy
Yeah and she seemed to give zero shits that she did that and only decided to do something about it when she realised the burned ones are connected to her. By the way they wrote her I genuinely wonder if they had no connection to her whatsoever and they were just some evil force that we're allowed in because she released a fairy if she would've even gone back inside the school to help. like if they had no connection to her I feel like she wouldve been like "oh man you let down the wall? that sucks for the school but at least i can get answers from you now"
The fact that I watched the original show religiously when I was like seven and still remember all the characters and the plot and got super pissed off when I saw how much they changed it amuses me.

The problem with this series is, they used the name “Winx” and some characters from the OG show just to bait people into watching a mediocre series that actually has NOTHING to do with the cartoon. Nothing. Not the plot, not the setting, not even the characters. They’re nothing like the cartoon, they just used their names. Take those away and all you’re left with is just another teen drama with some magical elements put in there. Honestly, if Netflix stopped making 1900 animated shows dark and edgy, maybe just MAYBE they would have some good feedback I want to relive my childhood not want an edgier teen rom-com out of it.
I think that the show could be easily remade for teen audiences if they made the characters believable. I think you would be very hard pressed to find this many teens so caught up on depressive angst and anxiety. Yeah highschool is very rough on the psyche but moody purple don't turn this extreme and when they do.....their friends aren't there just to enable and drag further. Netflix could have made a YAfantasy with all the awkwardness of cringy names but made characters that are not just 2 dimensional. It's a bit sad that a children's show from the early 2000's has better character depth than the teenage level remake.
@@SynnJynn let’s be honest, if you ignore the original show and separate them, and you realize it’s most likely for kids and teenagers it’s really not that bad. It’s not good but still
They literally took out flora for terra, made it “edgy” for views, musa isn’t Asian, the fashion is horrendous, and didn’t even include all the characters like what are they going for! Did they really think that their main demographic was people who watched the OG show because its not working. I know everyone watching was also looking forward to transformations but we didn’t get that either!
@@irisdxnvers3587 I agree that there were hardly any poc background characters, which is terrible. But there were only two poc in the main cast in the cartoon, and there are still only two poc in the live action. Musa is asian (now a different type of asian - middle eastern instead of east asian) and Layla/Aisha is black - the same caharcters that were poc. I've seen a comment saying that flora was hispanic but I don't know if that was the american version or me being uncultured, but I just thought she was white.
Netflix show writers: "I think this story is little basic. quick give me ideas how to make it progressive" "Add some feminist lingo to the dialogues" "Like what?" "Like 'mansplaining'" "What does it mean?" "No idea but sounds like what the cool kids say these days." ugh, real cringe, they just made the main character the most punchable one.
Bloom was so unbearable and there was literally no reason to make stella the 'mean girl' and have her and bloom fight over a guy when they were the closest in the og tv show:-P

Not just teens. I'm 23 and was a huge Winx Club fan when I was young. I was the oldest in the cinema for the first Winx Club movie, but quickly after that I did lose my interest as I became too old, and the show's creator had been intending for 3 seasons only and the writing shows it because after S3 it really got downhill.
I’m 20 now but yea that show gave me life.I was obsessed with it and I wanted to be Bloom so bad but after this I’m more than disappointed, I’m furious with Netflix. That’s not the Bloom I remembered and loved. Also Flora and Musa not being represented the way they should. Are you kidding me?! It’s rare to see someone look like me on a show to feel pride in my heritage so the fact that they cast white actors to play poc characters is disgusting and really shows there racism and performative activism!! 🤢 😡😒🤬 😑 So yea good job Netflix, now the new generation ain’t gonna have the same memories we had growing up. Ps: having one black character as black isn’t diversity it’s called tokenism
Dude I remember watching four specific episodes in German on a CD and I watched it like six times a day I miss when Stella wasn't a full on brat and Techna still existed :< I also miss the dark themes in a bright show which made it so interesting... Seriously this just ruined my childhood completely
Ok but there was one dialogue that actually made sense tho it was kinda cringe ofc, when Terra says that "I know it is typical of the patriarchy to "save" a women, but I am capable of doing that on my own" or sum like that. I mean the intention was there but it is so poorly executed
Can anyone explain how she wasn't charged for attempted murder? There was a freaking fire line going from her room to her parents room! Seriously wanted to like this but omg I couldn't get past 1 episode.
The line annoyed me too. I can get that it's a freak accident, first time using her powers, fire got out of control because it's fire etc. But the way it was shown did not match up with 'out of control'. It should have been a raging house fire, not a single trail up to the bedroom, where she stands and stares for a while.
as a person who practically grew up watching this show and stuck around till season 6 (the last season I liked before the show actually went down hill) I am so mad and disappointed, we know winx for their glitter and shine we don't know them for darkness and mature tf, the script is all over the place, where tf are tecna, musa and flora? what happened to their wings? why are they all white except for aisha? I don't hate any of the cast members but what I do dislike is the script, I was actually excited for this (because s7 and 8 really disappointed me, the winx world wasn't bad, I liked it) but then I saw the trailer and now this-
Exactly I also grew up watching it and when this came out... I was like WHAT. It’s actually so bad and it just ruins the reputation of the cartoon for those who first watched the Netflix ver
The whole transformation part is missing...that would at least make it a little better....techna is not there, musa and flora are...but flora is made out to be the annoying chubby girl lacksing confidence and musa is made out to be a pretentious wannabe antisocial girl that constantly wears her earphones because she is a mind reader and an empath...yes you heard me...she is not a music fairy...she is a mind fairy 💀 (oh and they made here white)....also Brandon is missing, and Timmy,and....Sky is not a prince...and....way to many things were changed and there for..ruined
In the original show, Bloom's backstory makes more sense. She is adopted and her Dad is a firefighter who rescued her from a burning house. They assumed she was left orphaned from the fire so the firefighter adopted her.
And her adoptive parents were so cute !!
@@teariesz4103 I loved her relationship with her parents. It made feel hope for parents cause mine were sh!t

The moment from winx cartoon I remembered for life:
When Stella got "ugly" and was worried her boyfriend would stop loving her. Then, someone puts a spell on him making him only see her inner beauty and personality instead of her physical appearance, but Stella is still worried. It turns out he still likes her because her personality is beautiful. I was like 10 and that was deep bruh
Shieeeet I’m...significantly older than that, and that brought a smile to my face.
I remember that episode I think I was in 2nd grade when I watched that
actually just recently rewatched that episode, winx had some seriously good topics and was such a fun show to grow up with
ruclips.net/video/-rlOvYPQhNc/видео.html just for the nostalgia I'll put it here, but the plot was the spell on Brandon never worked and he knew she was a monster the whole time but didn't care
It gets better! In the end it’s revealed that the inner beauty spell never worked and her boyfriend still loved her! Brandon was such a perfect guy 😍😍
The funniest thing for me was how Stella and Sky's relationship was called codependent and toxic multiple times without showing us actual evidence of that but Sky and Bloom's relationship was portrayed as this 'epic romance" when its not just toxic but abusive too.
@2 - A In the animated show, or the live action? Or both?
@2 - A Thnks mane!
What do you mean it's toxic and abusive to drug my crush/boyfriend because he wants to stop me from doing something really stupid that would result in putting the whole school and so many lives in danger?
Didn't she poison Sky?
I never saw Stella and sky as couple in cartoon so I don’t why they made them a couple in the fate series
Hate that this series decided that two females can’t be friends and HAVE to fight about a man when in the show each girl supported one another and didn’t have ridiculous boy problems
Honestly that should have been diaspro, not Stella.
exactly! earlier cartoons had such healthy female friendships. I don’t know why it’s a running trope these days that girls have to fight in order to be friends.
Bloom and Stella didn't fight over Sky. Stella gave Bloom some glares but Bloom wasn't interested in the drama.
Facts except when Darcy stole riven Musa's boyfriend
So women don’t fight over guys? Cue: jerry springer, cheaters, hip hop love and war, the bachelor, temptation island...shall I go on?
When Bloom said to Sky about ‘Mansplaining’ I had to pause the show and literally cringe out of embarrassment💀 like sis he’s literally trying to help you out cause you’re lost on your first day of school

That girl was a mess. I got so pissed that she was acting up unnecessarily. Like who wrote her character, do teenagers act like this!!!! Almost lit her parents on fire

Ok now I'm scared for Six of Crows
When Aisha ended up being right in the end and bloom let out the literal villain of the show like a dumbass
yeah so true, throughout the show you just hate her more and more... Aisha was soo nice to her and bloom treated her like crap :(
Yesssss!!!!

I always wonder why the high school students look like 20 something

-The writing and pacing is horrible
-None of the characters are worth routing for, they're either horrible, annoying, braty, or all three.
-The set design of Alfea has zero character
-The outfits look like they came from your grandmothers colorful stage
-The characters in the remake are somehow more shallow then the og characters despite Netflix trying to make the remake more "mature"
-The og show has more compelling mature themes like GENOCIDE and DIVORICE so they really didn't have to scrap the original shows themes to be more "dark" and "edgy"

I know everyone watching was also looking forward to transformations but we didn’t get that either!
they basically whitewashed the entire cast
@@Hopeful.JewNaNa.1948 exactly! And think of what floras outfit would’ve been with the type of style your talking about it would have been amazing
Transformations were half of fun in cartoon and now it is just boring
@@irisdxnvers3587 I agree that there were hardly any poc background characters, which is terrible. But there were only two poc in the main cast in the cartoon, and there are still only two poc in the live action. Musa is asian (now a different type of asian - middle eastern instead of east asian) and Layla/Aisha is black - the same caharcters that were poc. I've seen a comment saying that flora was hispanic but I don't know if that was the american version or me being uncultured, but I just thought she was white.
@@louisa1514 Flora was written from a Latina actress, so she is supposed to be Latina
Okay, but the fact SparkleTowel ads have better fairies then this- 😭
this show in five words: *im not like other girls*
And the thing is that trying hard to not be like other girls makes you act like other girls...
*sips pumpkin spice latte after giggling*
"Tinkerbell was an air fairy" uhm excuse me, tink was a tinker fairy. I dont know who this lady thinks she is
Someone who hasn't watched the Tinkerbell movies, Vidia is a fast flying fairy or how they put it "air fairy"
Someone needs to watch the Tinker Bell series once in a while😂
like I was confused- She's a tinker dumbass-
They can’t even do one single thing right
wtf she said that.......
The fact that they turned such an amazing and diverse fighting fairy cartoon into a dumb teen show is actually......just wow
ikr.. they didn´t need to change anything, all they had to do was follow the instructions
IT'S ACTULLY AMAZING
Ikr
The actual series was.... Literal magic. If only they'd kept it like it was. IF. ONLY.
Ikr they even got rid of Flora and the bunny and totally messed up on everything
Netflix show writers:
"I think this story is little basic. quick give me ideas how to make it progressive"
"Add some feminist lingo to the dialogues"
"Like what?"
"Like 'mansplaining'"
"What does it mean?"
"No idea but sounds like what the cool kids say these days."
ugh, real cringe, they just made the main character the most punchable one.
Bloom was so unbearable and there was literally no reason to make stella the 'mean girl' and have her and bloom fight over a guy when they were the closest in the og tv show:-P
but they had little fight moments on the cartoon but not about Sky
Every American movie with an “English” guy: posh accent, pain in the ass
The rest of the UK, Wales, Scotland, Ireland and every other English accent: ew
Ireland isn't part of the UK but yeah 😂
Everyone was British apart from Bloom
@@caitieluz4647 Northern Ireland is
yeah i have a heavy British accent but. even i think this is horrible like Jesus crist no one talks like that normally in fact i felt offended watching sky in this remake
@@caitieluz4647 also dont try to correct someone and then put a 😂 after it you WILL get corrected
Nobody:
Hollywood: Let’s ruin a ton of teen’s childhood.
More like let’s just ruin everyone’s childhood/nostalgia
@@inferiorinferno8859 exactly
Dude I remember watching four specific episodes in German on a CD and I watched it like six times a day
I miss when Stella wasn't a full on brat and Techna still existed :<
I also miss the dark themes in a bright show which made it so interesting... Seriously this just ruined my childhood completely
The way they ruined the beautiful, colourful, unique OUTFITS!!!
All the attempts to be ‘feminist’ in this show are literally so offensive to real feminists I can’t
EXACTLY! its like they're TRYING to get people to misunderstand and hate real feminists...
Ok but there was one dialogue that actually made sense tho it was kinda cringe ofc, when Terra says that "I know it is typical of the patriarchy to "save" a women, but I am capable of doing that on my own" or sum like that. I mean the intention was there but it is so poorly executed
@@candelariahernandez467 I hated that line, it just seems so out of character and nothing an actual teenager would say
@@lilbrattey3548 this is when show dont tell comes in handy
The word "mansplain" was used. Ugh
Can anyone explain how she wasn't charged for attempted murder? There was a freaking fire line going from her room to her parents room! Seriously wanted to like this but omg I couldn't get past 1 episode.
It was covered up as just a freak accident. No other explanation given
Cause fire spreads
@Cyberdemon Mike No, mlp and the winx are really good. Sorry for you
Season 5 and 6 aren't that good either 4 is like the last one that was good and stuck to the series.(kinda)
Musa and Flora are characters in the series. also this series was supposed to be directed towards older audiences.
I was so upset at the fact that everyone was British.
