  • After a great year racing in Scotland, I could scarcely believe it when I received my invitation to the British Championships! Myself and 7 other Scottish pilots ventured to the BMFA National Centre in Buckminster to place ourselves in the top 50 pilots in the UK. 2 days of qualifying and racing started very damp and foggy leading to interesting flying conditions, then an overnight thunderstorm left the track and campsite soaked! This was short lived to eventually become a beautiful day and them my real problems started with a couple of dire qualy runs including a spontaneous receiver death at 3:14. Eventually put a decent final run in qualy to raise my position to a more respectable level, seeding second in the F Final. Further issues in the final included a hanging battery at 3:26 from the collision in the clip prior and broken arm at 3:43. After a frantic receiver change before my last final run, I managed to bag a 3rd place in that particular round, 5th in my final and 35th overall. Perhaps a bit nervous on the big stage and fell short of my target position but not by much, not too bad for my rookie year! Hopefully I get the opportunity to do it all again next year! So many people to thank, ‪@britishdroneracingassociation‬ for an amazing event, ‪@FPVRacingSolutions‬ for a professional stream and impressive VAR system, especially G for driving all that way in a speed limited minibus! Big love to all the pilots who competed and hope to rip with you all again soon!

Thanks! And contending with occasional slap of the battery strap catching the props 😅 Definitely didn't fly my best but was happy being able to compete, was an amazing experience!

Nice, how many quads You typically bring with you?

I took 4 in total. 2 JS-1 HDZero's, 1 analog JS-1 and a final backup HDZero Cherrycraft Stamina. Used both JS-1 HDZero's, broke an arm on one and had to hastily replace an ELRS receiver before my last race of the day on the other! 3-5 quads to one of these competitions is about the usual - not that you ever hope to use more than one!
