What I found playing Venom is that he's an amazing character for capture point maps, but absolutely debilitating to play on payload maps. Way too often, what will end up happening is your backline getting completely screwed over by 1 high mobility damage dealer that you as Venom can't do literally anything about. If you choose to try and get rid of him (good luck with that btw, most of them will just dash away from your right click and since the left click hitbox is so small and percise you can't rely on it killing them before they run), you would be forsaking the payload chasing around 1 bug while the enemy team has plenty of time to group properly on the payload. If you choose to ignore and try to tank frontline like you're supposed to, you won't have enough damage dealers with you to ease that load, or your healer will be picked off and your sustain on the payload will not be very useful. Just for those frustrations, I found that learning a different tank who's damage is a lot more reliable like Thor, to be waaaayy more effective on payload maps. The difference is actually night and day
I don’t think that’s an issue with the character. As a main tank, his job is not to peel for your backline. Ideally you would have another tank or even a DPS who is more equipped to do that. But yeah you can’t always rely on that, in which case Venom won’t always be the best pick.
He can definitely be tough on payloads. On offense, I'll typically try to dive in deep to disrupt them so my team can push the payload, i fall back, heal, and dive back in. On defense, I sort of do the same. When you're back there going after their healers, it's hard for them to keep pushing
I kid you not I was just now noticing this. Was playing ranked games and any games I get venom and its capture point we absolutely roll, with me getting mvp and doing work. The moment payload maps occur something just clicks and we just get rinsed. Its been like 10x harder winning payload games than capture point games.
As a Venom main this is a really good video. Like you mentioned it is good to look to dive in with the wall crawl, and that's so you can use the websling to get out of situation where you might take more damage than anticipated. I actually use it more to escape unless the team is pushing and needs me to use the movement speed to get to an objective.
Have you seen much counter play? Not as rock paper scissors as OW. But maybe something like if they have a venom wrecking your team try XYZ to keep him in check. (May be too early to figure that out yet). Also, Thor. I freaking suck when I try to pick him up.😅
it's tough. I mention it in the weaknesses section of this vid, as a venom player, getting stunned is a big problem. or if the enemy team just focuses you whenever you come in, it's hard to get healed enough. you gotta leave before you can do much damage

Fantastic guide. I’m happy you mentioned about perching up high on walls to ambush teams while saving your swing for an emergency getaways if need be.
Venom bomb!
Merry Christmas Bootsie, here's a like and a sub from a fellow Venom fan from England. Keep up the great work
Great video! I had no idea how to play him
Thanks for the tips! I'll wait for your next videos on other heroes

Squirrel girl, Luna Snow and Mantis can cause problems for Venom by stunning him after he has popped his E ability.
2:25 how are you using the web slinging back to back before hitting the ground??? Mine goes into cooldown the moment i use it
Just wanted to note you do get a small benefit from the teamup through the anchor bonus
yeah. totally forgot about that lol. thanks for pointing that out
Bro i feel like if you be a voice actor you'd be so good
Should I swing and do the venom bomb? I feel like I am listening to when I do that
What about easy swing should we turn on or off
for venom, i personally think easy swing is fine. spider-man is more fast paced and squishy, so i think for him you should turn it off.
Depends. Off if you are going for better movement and faster travel but On if you want quick near death escapes
What do you think about Venom's gameplay using a controller?
It hasn’t been much of a problem for me. It can feel a little clunky, but it’s manageable.
haven't tried it. i'm a PC guy. someone in these comments was complaining about it though
It's good. I main him, just have to adjust your aim to be able to catch those fast squishy's
The height on that dive in mobe is fu ked on console. Ive been high ive been low. It never seems to wanna trigger
yeah. takes a bit to get used to
