    Nice Job man! I'm sure once you move on to a better suspension you will see yourself increasing the stiffness of that front bar again. That and having the front camber at almost -4 will dial out that understeer.

    So I dialed in more oversteer by swapping to a NC1 soft top FSB on the rear of my AP1 with the Karcepts front bar. I wish I could still sell you tires but can't wait to see you break more records!

    • @toddxhiggins
      @toddxhiggins 2 года назад

      Swapping to a smaller/softer/more compliant rear sway bar would just throw even more bias to the front and cause more understeer.
      The mx5 rear bar is used by a lot of auto X guys to minimise rear wheel spin and excess sliding.

    I think the "need" for a large front sway bar on a square setup is greatly overstated unless you are doing an auto-x setup. My friend ran a 1:53.9 on BW n/a with ao52's and he is on the stock 07 sway bars. I also have an 07 but I have the stock rear sway bar with an Eibach front sway bar. On stiff (slightly stiffer than an 00-01/CR bar) I had too much understeer so I put it on soft (about the same as the 08-09 bar) the car started to handle much better. I'm still thinking of putting my stock bar back on the front as it is still a little pushy at times.

    • @toddxhiggins
      @toddxhiggins 2 года назад +2

      Agreed! I see so many comments saying you need to go big front sway bar the moment you even think of changing to a square set up. Annoying as in most cases it's not needed and the person giving the advice hits the track once every 3 years haha.
      I went to a square set up on my 01 (largest OEM sway bars) and even with the stock front bar I still had a touch of understeer to iron out so can imagine how bad it would've been with an aftermarket bar.

    wow!bravo!congrats! always liked the fact that you could drive your OEM staggered s2000 so fast that I almost feel bad that the squared set up is faster ahah. In Italy we can't change tire size, I wish I could drive an S with 245 all around. I kinda did like your friend (Nat?, the other super fast guy) and bought a showroom s2000 only to find out that I love to track it. It's a bit of a pity but it's really addictive. Did my first few mod after 2 years, Ohlins, alignement and Recaro Rsg and I love how the car feels now but I really need more seat time (and better tires) in it. I live abroad and the S is my summer/Xmas toy only. You drive it very well, I wanna hone my skills too. Priority number one is always to bring the car back home in one piece for now :) Nice recap of the last few months. Does the big brake kit handle heat much better than the stock rotors/calipers with good pads? Well done.ciao!

    Lift off oversteer is chassis warp, if you want to run the big front sway bar you need a ladder brace to go with it. The big swaybar links the front axle more than the rear and the chassis twists and bends a bit. With the front and rear subframes linked you transfer more of that front axle twist from the larger sway bar to the rear.

  • @karltaht2370

      No I don't. I had ducting for a brief period on the front of the car but once I went to a big brake kit I had to remove the dust shields on my wheel knuckles. In the rear I'm using the Urge vented rotor so it typically stays quite cool.

      They bend if you don’t treat them nicely. Can also crack if you go wild but I’ve primarily sustained a few bends from Thunderhill west which is notorious for bending wheels.

    What's up man? I've been a subscriber for a while and was hoping you could help pin-point an issue with my AP2 by picking your brain.
    I have a 04 s2000 with 115k miles. 10/10 vin, garage kept.
    It is pulling to the right (significantly) since I messed with my ride height.
    It is on Ohlin's coilovers.
    Thought an alignment would fix it, but nope. Alignment is good (camber, caster, and toe) (lets take this out the equation)
    Tires are good. However, I've already flipped both fronts (left to right) and rears (left to right) just to make sure. 32 PSI all round. (lets take this out the equation).
    Car drove straight no issues on the same tires.
    So if we can take alignment and radial pull out of the equation, could I pick your brain on what are the potential things to check?

    • @DIYGuysvideo

      You are most likely to mis shift if you have broken motor mounts and you are not driving in a bucket seat. Having said that I have overrevved my AP1 a few times in the past without issue. If you’re a beginner you’re more likely to miss shift but I wouldn’t make it a barrier for getting out on track.

    • @DIYGuysvideo
      @DIYGuysvideo  2 года назад +6

      I looked into CE28 and they generally have poor BBK clearance. With a +50 I would have to run a 5mm spacer. Then the wheel becomes a +45 and you’re looking at installing extended studs (hubs and bearings) on all four corners. Obviously if a +50 won’t clear a +70 would be even worse. Even now, I can’t turn to full lock without the grids scraping my front suspension (probably due to the offset ball joints).
      TE37 at +47 is more doable with a 3mm spacer on stock studs but that is down to a +44.
      I like Titan 7s but they so don’t do 10s and I have a lot of friends that have bent them pretty easily. Advan RS2 +50 would be perfect but they aren’t produced anymore.

    It’s unfortunate you had to move to a square setup and now have to deal with understeer. I personally don’t like square setups on RWD cars for this reason unless they are pushing large amounts of horsepower. Seeing as your S is mostly a track car, you won’t have to deal with the terrible side effects of driving a square setup on the street.
