A short flight from Milk Hill White Horse to the pub at the end of the day on Sunday 29th July 2024. A hoofing thermal over the hill and struggled to get down.
hiya mate, i fly gliders at my local near Lasham just wondering what the glide ratio on one of these are. Also, they must climb like rockets in those afternoon thermals
@turtl_2097 we get about 10:1 glide and some sporty comp wings 13:1. At this time of year in the UK yeah climb rates, we get about 3-4m/s sometimes a bit more. In the Alps anything up to 10m/s. Not bad for a bit of fabric 😀 The benefit of the modern paraglider is they are extremely light weight and pack down to a small rucksack. Hike and Fly now a new spin off sport in Wales and the Lake District.

@@NikValirissounds low but definitely not bad for a piece of fabric as you said. And that 10m/s is some proper ridge lift.
