- A very special movie, I wanted to film a temporary stairs into the groot handelsgebouwen but suddenly there comes a emergency helicopter and lands on the square before Rotterdam central station. The police cleared the station square and the trauma helicopter could land quickly without danger to civilians.
That cordening off the area time was unbelievable!
That was quick work by the local authorities to close off that area. Nice vid thanks
+Lesleyt58 They would not have had long. The only reason the helicopter went wide around the buildings was because the landing area was not secured.... if the helicopter is called, it's because ambulances would take too long to arrive.
Or because the travel time from the incident to the hospital is too long for road ambulances.
In the Netherlands helicopters are not normally used for transportation of patients. They are used to transport trauma doctors and their teams to critical patients. This team is called "MMT", for Mobile Medical Team. Besides, ambulances and the police will almost always arrive before the MMT in the Netherlands simply because they will be much closer.

soms ben je op de juiste plek op de juiste tijd
arts had bijna de trein gemist dus moest even met de helikopter op station afgezet worden ;p
Wat een geluk dat je daar net aan het filmen was!
Moet dit Rotterdam zijn lijkt wel Japan of New York
Ik kan je verzekeren dat deze film is gemaakt in Rotterdam. De trap waar ik op loop gaat naar het dak van het Groot Handelsgebouw. Het Groot Handelsgebouw is een van de eerste gebouwen die werd gebouwd in Rotterdam na het bombardement in 1940.

@@rydb2985 Staat zelfs in het Nederlands centraal station.. en alleen in Nederland hebben we deze kleur ambulances en trauma helikopters. Maar neem aan dat je gewoon grapje maakte.

En als die achterlijke wereldbollen op dat plein geplaatst zouden zijn, had dit dus niet gekund....

I'm sure the patient was stable and we don't really have any info why they needed that person
Dubious I don't understand your replay or your attitude and definitely not how you are "sure" the person is in stable, do you see anything I don't see in the video?!?! And I'm running, more than most people.
If the patient were critical he would have moved faster, but still not running
Most of these medics are in good shape, but they ain't athletes
Dubious that's an assumption, unlike me wondering - if it's not argent why call a heli? It's literally thousands of dollars to fly a heli for 1 hour of flight.... & landing it in a middle of a public place like that. That is not something you do just cause. It's a giant operation. I'm sure there's a good reason and maybe someone who knows will answer it.

They most likely wanted a consult from a specialist before moving the patient
When the helicopter is available, that is the fastest way, money is not the priority
