    Here are the Direct links to the complement ink that I think looks best with this:
    Robert Oster Astorquiza Rot
    ruclips.net/video/L5DkZ--AQog/видео.html
    This doesn’t mean I think the best complement is in itself a great ink, just that it is a nice complement color.

    I have an old bottle of 54th Massachusetts too, and I found that if I didn’t shake it up, it was a much lighter, aqua shade. After vigorous shaking, a swab was almost black with two passes, and in regular use it is, as you say, a kind of blue-black.
    I also found that it stuck a bit to my dip pen nib and had to be wiped off after rinsing. Because it apparently sediments and can stick to metal, I don’t plan to put it in favorite pens.
    “Life’s too short for bad paper.” Couldn’t agree more. My life is also enriched by using my various fountain pens and inks. I hope more people get into this, and your very helpful body of work helps this.

      This was filmed before it was more widely known that the bottle need to be shaken before filling a pen.

    This ink surprised me. Everything about it seemed to be ticking all my boxes for a resistant blue/black, but then I started getting weird flow issues. Initially I put it down to the pen, the paper, me.. then I had the same behaviour in another pen. The best I can explain it is that there's something intermittently sticky about it. I had similar experiences with El Lawrence, persisting in the feed of the pen more than it should. In both cases I've been working from samples. I'd like to give 54th another try but direct from an unopened bottle, to rule out tainting.

      @AnInkGuy  2 года назад +1

      I understand the idea of from a bottle but that can be an expensive way to try an ink out, that is why I generally go for samples. Even with the risk of a somehow tainted sample.

    Noodler’s 54th Massachusetts is my favorite business suitable ink. It works well on a wide array of papers, dries fast and I don’t have to worry about it if a little water gets on it.
    The only complaint I have with it is it does not behave well in my Lamy 2k F nib in that it clogs the feed after a few days. It has behaved well in every other pen I have tried it in, but I can’t get it to behave in the L2k.
    As for a complimenting ink, I would have stuck with Noodler’s Civil War theme and picked Antietam.

    • @AnInkGuy
      @AnInkGuy  2 года назад

      Antietam would haver also been a great complement!
      Unfortunate it doesn't seem to work out well in your Lamy 2K.

    Hola. Hoy me llego mi 54 Massachusetts. Muy contento. Es un verde grisoso o un gris verdoso. No veo que sea un azul. Muy fluida y seca rápido. En mis cuadernos alcanza a reflejar las escritura al lado opuesto a pesar de tratar de escribir rápidamente para evitar el exceso de tinta. En papel de fotocopia seguro no va a servir. Otra más para la colección.

    Adam,
    That's a really nice looking ink! That could be a great note taking ink. Easy on the eyes.
    Thanks for the review!
    About the cheap paper, try the CVS pharmacy Caliber brand spiral bound one subject notebooks. I have been using it a lot for note taking and i can write on both sides.

    • @AnInkGuy
      @AnInkGuy  5 лет назад

      I haven't tried that one yet. When I look at cheaper paper it's not to try to find the best cheap paper. It's actually to find inks that work well even on cheaper paper.
      But I will look into the CVS Caliber paper.

    Do you have a preferred blue/black that is permanent and easy on a Lamy2000? Is 54th tough on a piston pen?

    • @AnInkGuy
      @AnInkGuy  Год назад +1

      While my favorite blue-black is Namiki... I think the Lamy Blue-Black is an amazing one and for the Lamy 2000 I say go with the Lamy Blue-Black because a great ink in a great pen same brand... what a win!

    Hola Adam. Tarde en encontrar el tono azul, pero después de ensayar varias estilográficas, he decidido que se comporta bien en aquellas que son de bajo flujo de tinta y el color que proporcionan es de todo mi gusto. Sigo pensando en un azul/verde grisoso, que repito me gusta muchísimo. Es una de esas tintas que se que voy a usar mucho. Gracias por tu atención.
    Pluma Chevignon fina es en la que mejor resultado tengo.

    I've tried this ink, I think it's too wet to be really enjoyable.
    54th Massachusetts is so extreme that even on some fountain pen friendly types of paper, it makes my Extra-Fine nibs look like Fine-Fedium because of how much it spreads into the paper. Like coffee on a sugar.
    Although I have to admit it never smears (doesn't even need to dry it's instantly absorbed by the paper) and is really really waterproof. I think there's a trade-off there.

    • @AnInkGuy
      @AnInkGuy  4 года назад +1

      It can be a bit aggressive on a lot of papers, true. But I am a 54th Mass fanboy. I like it and like the color and shading. For me that does mean I usually avoid any paper I think will be a problem with this ink. That might be a little extreme I know.

      Recién la empecé a usar y tengo exactamente las sensaciones que usted expone en su comentario. Creo que voy a usarla en alguna de mis plumas menos húmedas. Quizás una penbbs 323 o una Parker vector.

    @An Ink Guy, I'm new to fountain pens, for a difficult to clean ink such as this, should I consider using a dedicated inexpensive pen first such as a Twsbi Go?

    • @AnInkGuy
      @AnInkGuy  3 года назад +1

      If a dedicated pen for an ink you find harder to clean will make using fountain pens more enjoyable for you then that is what you should do. Do the things that will help to make it more fun for you.

    • @AnInkGuy

      I prefer this as a color to bad blue heron... but if resistance matters more to you than bad blue heron is a better choice.

    Its a nice ink but stained the plastic where the feed goes in on my moonmam pen. Any suggestions on cleaning? Bleach and water? Flush?

    • @AnInkGuy
      @AnInkGuy  4 года назад

      I would use the flush before I even considered using a 1/3 bleach solution. IF you use the 1/3 bleach then clean the pen shortly after using it.

    Are there any inks that you've found with viscosity less than 1?

    • @AnInkGuy
      @AnInkGuy  5 лет назад

      No, when I did the test I used water as my 1 to adjust off of. So the closer to 1 the closer the viscosity is to water.
