Honest Trailers: Are we building up to Disney Princess Avengers?
Disney: That's actually not such a bad idea...
I'd sure as shit watch it.
Oh good, another stupid idea from Disney... I'd still pay all the money to see that though.
GeneralEmperor uhh Disney already did. It was called Sofia the first.
The sequel of it will be Princess Avengers vs Big hero 6
GeneralEmperor and I would watch it when it came out to rent lol
Actually, there's a historical reason they are scared to leave the island. There's this period of time where the Polynesian people did absolutely no voyaging or colonizing. Lasted for about 300 years. After that, they got Hawaii and the rest of the islands. So Moana is probably from one of the Samoan islands.
Basically Moana is just made up of different polynesian cultures. So your historical explanation still stands
Earl Maudrie Polynesians from Easter Island also refused to leave the island, which almost led to their total collapse of civillisation.
Why did they refuse? Did they refuse to give up everything they made on the island?
Creep vids They believed that the island will heal itself, just like in the movie. When all your tree heights are reduced to below 3m, you know that is time to leave
Oh interesting, let's hope we don't end up like that on a bigger scale with this planet :P
As a Polynesian girl, can I just say that I appreciate the efforts made for the "We Know the Way" parody. They could have thrown in any other joke in there as an alternative - and frankly, it would have been the easier thing to do because the Tokelau language classifies as "severely endangered" - but they went through with actually finding a translator for a seconds long joke.
I was extremely impressed too. the research behind this episode, but this, bringing up the very sus racial stereotype song, and the offensive tattoo costumes, I feel like they covered everything perfectly.
....Except for the Rock's singing- dont insult him he did great
@@rai4119 Yeah I mean... he's kinda right, the Rock can't sing... but he's so incredibly charismatic that it doesn't even register in the movie. He's just awesome.
Thanks!! I was super proud of the fact that we found a musician who spoke Tokelau! One of my favorite HT bits we did :)
@@Jazzisa311 he sounded great
There was minimal autotune since the studio recording almost sounds the same
Sames
"You'll marry a coconut, when you turn thirteen!"
😂😂😂😂
Lol right 😂😂😂😂😂
I don't know what's worse, marrying a coconut when you turn thirteen, or marrying a thirteen year old coconut.
Well in the movie she’s 16 so maybe she’s already married to it
Still a better love story than twilight don´t worry I know where the door is
@@caroltawil For traditional equator people the word is correct. You'll touch coconut atleast twice a day since most of meals are using coconut milk.
I actually thought Dwayne sang pretty nicely.
It's 666 likes now because of me.
Thank me later.
This whole honest trailer felt like it was trying too hard to be humorously cynical. Idk if the writer changed but something about this episode just felt different
Just recently watched the movie: I agree. It was actually my favorite song.
what nah ya, I agree. this one trailer wasn't really that great.
Rainbow Samurai same!!
Now I want a disney princess avengers movie.
Valkanna .Nublet it's called Shrek the Third
Jordan Brauer i was gonna say Avengers Grimm but goddamnit Shrek the Third was a good movie
Hell....yes
EEIIIIII!
Valkanna .Nublet Marvel actually made a series of comics called Avengers Fairy Tales. Vision was Pinocchio, Scarlet Witch was the Blue Fairy, Captain America was Peter Pan, Iron Man Thor Hawkeye were his lost boys, Ant Man became The Blue Caterpillar...
The thing that I love about Moana is that there’s no romance subplots in it
Me too
Frikken AWESOME!
Youre wrong. Shes in love with Maui 🤫
@@gavinerecre6210 Noooo
Yeah
I actually really liked the rock's singing. He has not the best voice I've ever heard, but it was quite pleasant
Yeah that song was dope. The story was really fun too, I like the use of gods.
He sings way better than average show wrestler / action movie star. His performance in You're Welcome, even though autotuned and most likely recorded in 6 parts is actually good
@@mrj.kottari8453 true he sounded better than u would think
Definitely refreshing when the only songs you hear are people who really overdo the melody just because they have a perfect singing voice. Just because your voice isn't "plain" enough to sing doesn't mean you can't sing. It's usually the more unique voices that are the most fun to listen to. Like if you look up "Only Human" from the Death Note Musical Soundtrack, Ryuk has a really interesting voice that's on-key perfectly fine, even though it's raspy and not "singer material".
You can hear in his singing he had a blast doing it. I liked it.
The "nobody goes beyond the reef" thing is a reference to the historical pause in real world history during which polynesians stopped expanding and then suddenly started to again. They rapidly colonized what is now called Western Polynesia up until 3,500 years ago, then just stopped. Then, 1,000-500 years ago they suddenly burst out and finished colonizing what is now called Central and Eastern Polynesia.
Why they did this is unknown to us. Moana's plot is based on the pause being due to the events of the film.
I did not know that. Thanks for the Interesting info.
I am being completely genuine btw
That's super interesting! Thanks for sharing. :)
Was it tied to climate changes, such as the Viking expansion to North America during the Medieval warm period?
did they think the reef was the "edge of the world" and they didn't want to fall off?
Screen Junkies can't be bothered with actual history.
I laughed so hard at the Disney Princess Avengers joke. Then I realized I would probably watch that.
THE KINGDOM HEARTS GAME WE WISH WAS A MOVIE FRANCHISE.
Then go see Wreck It Ralph 2.
@@Dimensioneer88 but wreck it Ralph 2 isn't really an Avenger movie...because no sky beam
Qi Unknown there haven’t really been sky beams in an avengers movie in a good while
i need that movie to happen
Twist Ending: Maui lives another few centuries and eventually decides to assimilate into humanity by shapeshifting into a man named Dwayne Johnson.
I believe it.
@Coley Roberson well the heart of te fiti is a rock
His design was based on Dwayne Johnson’s grandfather
Fucking genius 🤯
We’re right at 666 likes. Please. Nobody like this. 🤘

"You're welcome" is the best Disney song in years. Dwayne killed it
Thankfully, in french, they hired a guy who can sing pretty well (really well actually) to voice Maui
Azra BH I wouldnt call it the best but its definitely one of the best songs
tbh rock did sing pretty well.
Honestly, I thought it was ok. Personally, I thought "How far I'll go" and the reprisal was the best.
Pure nonsense
ALSO did you know that Moana in Maori(the language that they based the movie from) MEANS OCEAN! So basically the dad names his child sea and doesn’t let her go to the sea.
I kinda find it sweet.
I will name her after the fiercest most beautiful and powerful thing that demands respect from all... even me.
I love how you've missed the most obvious Disney comparison...POCAHONTAS:
- from a tribal, indigenous culture;
- feels duty to her family but wants to know "what's around the riverbend";
- wise grandmother who tells her to follow her heart;
- powerful message about keeping the balance of Nature and not destroy it;
- 2 animal sidekicks (one bird and one mammal)
- both fight villains obsessed with gold
But she loved a white guy. That's super non-woke
@@kn761 But both Moana and Pocahontas took down gold obsessed villains with catchy songs about said greed (Tamatoa and Radcliff).
I don’t think people like to compare the two. One is based on a true story that was shifted into a colonial lie
@@darcyliliana4907 Sure, but the similarities are there nonetheless.
@@kn761 Ahahah, and because of that she had a semi sad ending.
Not gonna lie. The song of Maui was great, catchy and I really liked the voice of The Rock
a - muse - me he cant sing very well though
Yeah... I'm with amuse here. I thought the Rock sang just fine. Not everyone needs to sound exactly like every generic high octave pop star to be a good singer.
Remember Stevie Nicks? Louis Armstrong? Ella Fitzgerald?
Agreed! Dwayne Johnson kicked SO MUCH a** with his solo number!
Disney auto-tuned him into a Samoan Michael Bublé, and it sounds awesome.
Elvira Isabel Romero Castillo That might be a language.
"are they building up to Disney's princesses Avengers" that got
lmfao
I hope they made 1...imagine the plot will be like stargate bs and they meet in a world
No Rapunzel, though...
*Squeal*
And the little squealing sound he makes. Lol
I`d totally watch that XD
"And if the ocean has her back, why does it keep trying to drown her?" Very good point...😂😂
Okay we need an honest trailer for Hamilton now
YESS SIR!
Yes make it happen please!
there's nothing to be criticized though, it's too good
Bet they do an Honest Trailer for Hamilton right before the In The Heights movie comes out. Or, at least, they should.
"Disney's Princess Avengers" sounds like an AWESOME idea, but it needs Mulan. Mulan is the EPITOME and the FIRST Disney female protagonist to be her own warrior and badass, the "Captain America" of Disney princesses.
Please do an honest trailer for Mulan.
I'll be on board for female avengers as long as Merida isn't part of it.
abridgedfan100 Mulan is their Nick Fury
abridgedfan100 Honestly, Mulan is the most similar to Cap out of all the princesses. Joined the army when they wouldn't normally let them in, fought for their country against a scary dictator, got looked down on by other soldiers, had to use their wits when they couldn't compete physically, had a crush on a superior, etc.
Maybe during the avalanche battle, Mulan could've been frozen and woken up in the 21st century. 😁
Throw in Princess Kida from Atlantis. WHY DOES DISNEY KEEP IGNORING HER?
Because she didn't make money.
Him: Wait so are Disney princesses turning into Avengers? Disney: That's not a bad idea....
Alex Loh it's is a bad idea
I'm not gonna lie, I would watch that movie, love every second of it, and hate myself afterwards.
Alex Loh...I would TOTALLY watch the Disney Princess Avengers! WEEEEE...No problem there my friends! I'd watch that even if it sucked. ;-)...Make these movies have allot of super powers & ass kicking & I might watch more of the crappy Disney movies they are making lately...I miss the days when Disney was all about hand drawn screen cells & beautiful artwork. :*-(
I would love to see that now
I'd go see it!
Upvoted for the tekelau translator, he needs all the work he can get.
When's the Disney Princess avengers release date?
November 21st 2018 (Ralph Breaks the Internet).
I'm beyond impressed that Screen Junkies and Honest Trailers put in the effort to find a Tokelau translator. So many other channels/people would have never done the same thing and would have just made some gibberish up.
I can't believe ScreenJunkies actually took the time to get a Tokelau translator for that one bit... props to them
*"not even the ocean gushes as much as Hamilton fans"* as a Hamilton fan I can confirm this fact.
It's funny cause it's true!
amazingore same. every time Lin sings in that one song I also get super excited
amazingore read this just as he said this :)
Shreyanshi great minds think alike
Are you my mummy? Macala Jane must be a sign from the gods
I love the song in Tokelauan, I'm really impressed you did that.
Rozenn Keribin was actually one of the cousins singing the Tokelauan part
"Are we building up to Disney's Princess Avengers? Eeeeeeeeehh" That part kills me lmfao
Omg. "Nobody Gushes Harder than Hamilton Fans" I'm dying 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
Who is Hamilton?
It's a famous play about a historic guy named Alexander Hamilton.

And thus a thousand fanfics were born!
Like six years ago.
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I'd still totally go see that
What?! Honest trailers forgot to mention the “Shiny” song? I was looking forward to the altered lyrics for that song
Must have been a masterpiece they wouldn't touch! 🤣
@@777LoveStory true haha
Because it's already perfection
Right? I was expecting some serious digs at Disney’s capitalistic empire.
i know this is old, but the Disney guys did good on this one. The plot, artwork, and values (including starving on an island) are all retellings of real, traditional stories and events. The writers spent months with locals and years researching this, and a couple of seconds of googling will reveal how much is either real, or a real polynesian story.
NOT EVEN THE OCEAN GUSHES HARD AS HAMILTON FANS SOOOO TRUEEEE
HAMILTON FANS UNITE. I wasent into Hamilton when I watched moans but when I rewatched it A had a freaking panic attack when I heard Lin

John Laurens true I guess?
Jeff Vinylvarmint It's just another amazing musical that musical theatre geeks are happy to fan over. It's just like Wicked, Hairspray, and In the Heights, except it got more popular.
The Rock had a decent voice. Now don't get me started on Russel Crowe in Les Mis and how bad he was. Lol
the honest trailer for Les Mis is a classic LMAO! "Fat Maximus.":)))))
AmethystEyes Yeah Dyawne did really good tbh
AmethystEyes Pierce Brosnan in Mamma Mia! is infinitely worse.
+areasevenpro Agreed. Pierce Brosnan was so bad at singing that he actually made Russel Crowe sound like a legit Broadway star.
Autotune or not I think he sang well
4:34
Yeah, they're kind of doing it in Wreck-it-Ralph 2.
Look, I'm from Brazil and I've never seen Hamilton (nor would I understand too much of it anyway), but Moana's soundtrack is FANTASTIC - especially the score. It wasn't your average Disney animation music. It could have been anyone who did it, I would have left the cinema in awe all the same. Hell, at least she won't marry a rich pedophile 20 years her senior.
lakamokolaka No one else usually does
How Far I'll Go might be a clone of Let It Go, but it's ten times better than the original.
Also, The Rock does a pretty good job of singing for a wrestler 😝
It's not a clone of Let It Go, it's an "I want" song. The heroine of every Disney movie sings a similar thing. Let It Go is unrelated, it's just compared because it's famous.
Let It Go is a villain song and makes more sense in that context instead of the one we got
Yeah like I’m wishing, almost there and when will my life begin to name a few
"Hamilton, Hamilton, Hamilton, is singing!," -all Hamilton fans that have listened to Hamilton so many times that the minutes Lin starts singing, they recognize his voice.
It's kind of irritating that 'Moana' and 'Lilo and Stitch' are compared a lot despite the fact that they have nothing in common besides the fact that they have Polynesian protagonists.
Bianca Gray
And lilo and stitch is actually a good movie
And they're both set on tropical islands.

In what way is moana a bad movie? The characters, music, and animation are all amazing.

I have seen at least twenty people ask for this. How have they not done it?
"Wow, Troy Polamalu really let himself go" I died XD
XD same
I WISHED Moana had water powers. That would've been way more cool than what they did. They basically made her the ocean's favourite or something. Except all the times she almost drowns.
They could've done a whole line of elemental themed princesses!
"How far I'll go" is like the sister of "Let it go", and they're the daughters of "Go the Distance".
BeanBag343 yessss
I'd say they're all kids of "Part of your world".
"How Far I Go" is the most talented of the sisters tho
BeanBag343 I CAN GOOOOO DA DISTANCEEEE
I object: You're Welcome was sung perfectly fine, even venturing into good territory.
And as always, the songs were better than the pop covers in the credits.
FDRpi exactly!
Yess the pop cover of how far I’ll go omg they auto tuned the heck of it to the point that it sounds like a robot singing it
Way better. How Far I'll Go. The chick who sings How Far I'll Go in the credits sounds like a Taylor Swift ripoff having period cramps.
Eh Alessia cara’s other music sounds pretty good
Often I agree. But I really liked the credits song of the second Narnia movie. (The call)
The LotR credits songs are also pretty good.

He sang awesomely!!!!
they just want to do their typical jokes
I honestly think he was genuinely good at it, better than I had ever expected the Rock to be at singing.
That was actually my fave song due to how entertaining and visually interesting it was. Plus it was fairly obvious where it was going but still sweeps you along with it.
The crab song was also pretty good.
The rest were by the numbers Disney songs.
That adaptation of “Let It Go.” Classic.
The excited shrieking on 4:36 got me 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
....... Dwayne Johnson sung that particular song well......
You don't understand what good singing is. It's not just hitting the correct notes. He was practically talking. Disney has really effed up what you kids consider good singing.
Hitting the corrects notes is in fact good singing...
Uhhh, Mellissa, it's still singing, he didn't need to have an opera singer's voice for that song. It was simple and effective.
andrewkful
I agree and I'm not a kid.
Although, his 'singing' voice those sound like his regular voice so I might agree with you. Yes, what I said might be confusing but, what I'm trying to say that "I agree with him, but I notice a few things that make me understand your point."
That's how the song is though, it's a mostly talking song
The Rock can totally sing. It's not anywhere as bad as everyone says!
The Rock is not a good singer, but he more than makes up for it with his charisma that he injects into it.
How do you define a good singer?
I like his singing it was catchy.. People accept too much outta people these days.
yeah..but, too much to "expect" proper language?
He can sing better than most of today's "singers" (but yes he's not a good singer but he can sing)
I think this is probably the most accurate Disney interpretation of a mythology ever.
"you'll marry a coconut when you turn thirteen"...just... I can't even comment on that line, I mean really.
The guy doing the singing voice for the Rock absolutely sucked.
That's the joke...
+eli stewert except it sounded nothing like him.
eli stewart I thought the Rock was actually pretty good. And I'm not the only one. Not really sure where they got the "I can't sing AT ALL" from. He isn't amazing, but definitely not bad.
I'm 99% sure that was Andy Signore. And yeah...that was the joke.
they couldnt roast the Great One

Dude, you're amazing for finding translators for that language. That's more representation than the movie itself
“Coconuts wee!”
The best self control I’ve had at this point is failing to suppress a giggle. When this happened, I began laughing uncontrollably.
Another similarity with the Genie: The Rock's singing abilities are on par with what Robin Williams' were (RIP), but their sheer charisma got them through their respective songs.
My name is batty, my logic is erratic, potato in a jacket, toys in the attic
... Yup ... Robin sang that ...
P.S. WTF is your pic, I can't tell

I rock and I ramble, my brain is SCRAMBLED! Rap like an animal, but I'm a mammal...
I love that movie and that was always my favourite bit... anything with Batty was my favourite lol. My only problem Ferngully is that it's set in Australia and EVERY character has an American accent - being from Aus, it used to really take me out of the movie sometimes even when I was a kid. But I do understand why they did it that way, just annoying is all.
Nah, Arabian Nights and Friend Like Me were better song.
Now, now. He also did a frankly amazing rendition of the Beatles' Come Together with Bobby Mcferrin.

Rock actually sang really well though
I'm sure they were just fooling around, but DJ is actually a pretty fair singer. Not saying he should necessarily drop an album after his Moana song, but he did really well still for someone that's not an actual singer.
lin-manuel did his best to cater the song to his singing voice.
Shayan Rajan When he did WWE full time, he sang frequently, through something called Rock Concert. He sings good actually.
Yeah, I know it's a joke, but I really don't get what they were talking about. I thought he did great.
He's at least did far better than the oaf trying to mimic him in this one x'D
And that song is stupidly catchy.
He does sing well in Journey 2 the Canter of the Earth.
The Rock sang live multiple times in the ring, and he also pulled off You're Welcome greatly. I'm pretty sure he wasn't auto tuned, and I'm pretty sure he's a great singer.

The high notes in the "How Far I'll Go" parody got my cat's attention while I was revisiting this and I died. He just stared at my phone for a moment then looked at me with an expression that said, "Why, mom? Why?" He wasn't upset. Just disappointed. He, literally, turned his back on me 😂
i actually think that "how far i'll go" is much, much better song then "let it go"
wszystkie te piosenki są chujowe.
Roma Jerzycka truuueeee
I agree!!!!
Roma Jerzycka
The lyrics to how far I'll go is utter crap compared to let it go.
Fated Forever You're a weeb, your opinion is shit by default.
Okay, I'll admit I wanna see a Disney Princess Avengers
The only person missing is Scrooge McDuck..cuz the money
The Rock did a pretty good job singing I thought, though he was coached by Lin Manuel Miranda WHO IS AMAZING AND CAPABLE OF EVERYTHING!!!
They actually called Moana a 'waterbender.' How many of my fellow Avatar fans are glad to see the franchise is catching on?
"and the soundtrack people can't stop gushing about because they guy from hamilton is involved " I can confirm that's 100% true
Leilani Barajas yep so true
To be honest, I watched Moana and had no idea till later that LMM had sung in it.
I'm one of those people and it's SO TRUE. 😂 I mean, can you blame us? The guy's amazing
TheInklet Ikr
Lin wrote so many songs in so many things, but I can also confirm that I watched moana just for him
Did you know he sings the opening for the new magic school bus?
Whatever. The Rock sounded great.
Also, I like the "Knock-off Let It Go" song better than the original.
This is so good, I love the coconut sing especially lol
I just want to say that the constellation with the hook is actually a real thing, and it is part of Scorpio.
Also, the "Let it go" song is actually a want song, a type of song that dates back to Opera. It is actually very traditional for a lead character to have a want song, and a villan to have an I am song.
Whaaat, The Rock can't sing? But his song is the best one in the movie!
mk6rfc1 that's exactly what I thought 😂
agreed
I agree that it's good, but I prefer David Glowie's.
+No One In Particular no way, the crab song is the worst one
mk6rfc1 i thought i was the only one!
I thought The Rock Sung pretty well haha
JaxBlade JAX
he sang decently, or fairly, not really *well*
bahahahahaa im sorry couldnt keep that in
JaxBlade me to
Honestly I was surprised how good he was
I never knew I needed a Disney's Princess Avengers before now.
I loved the coconut song. But coconuts are extremely important to the island way of life. In kiribati they talk about how every piece of the coconut tree is used for something, and honestly, Polynesians wouldn't survive in the a lot of the islands they live in without the coconut. There is a reason why the movie puts so much emphasis on it even if it seems a bit nuts
