@Chris Ayala when all said is done it'll cost under 40k to buy a nice starter truck. I got a 2014 Cascadia for 36k with under 500k miles last August. Those lease programs will make you think everything is expensive outside of the program.

@Chris Ayala every truck needs maintenance tho. Pre trips and not beating the hell out of your truck will save you a lot on the breakdown side.

I started my trucking career when i was 23 now i'm 37 and it's been a hell of a roller coaster for me on this 14 years But one thing i must say is that all the hard work and ups and downs paid off at the end, Now i manage my company with a small fleet of 12 trucks and growing, the Rule number #1 that helped me becoming successful was, maintaining a good amount of funds on a savings acc for worst case scenario because eventually will happen and always be on top of your equipment because no mechanic no matter how good they are will look into it better than you.Good luck on your way to success.

To all you youngsters out there let me tell you something Truck driving is waaaay waaaay easier when you’re young specially in your 20s because once you hit the late 30s oh boy that’s where it gets harder because your body changes specially if you don’t take care of it you start getting all’s this blood pressure.. anxiety and all that stuff so my advice is try to do truck driving while you’re young and if you do it for a long run try to eat healthy and don’t do drugs and don’t abuse alcohol either Remember Being Healthy is just as important as having a clean Cdl license.

If you're leaving 70k income for 3-months or 4-months go for it because obviously you have bigger and better things on the horizon! Don't listen to 'complacency' or 'tweedle dumb' or what 'tweedle do!' Because 'Jeff Bezos' didn't settle for 'mediarcacy' now he's worth 200 billions dollars, and 'Amazon's' worth 1.2 trillion dollars !!! So keep expanding on bigger and greater goals, ambitious, and achievements and leave the simple minded thinking to the simple minded people! Keep in mind this is most likely Net Income.
To break it down, assume Finance purchase at $125,000 with a average finance rate of 3-5% over 60 months. That equates to an annual vehicle cost of $28,042.
Avg. Diesel Cost @ $2.60, averaging 7 MPG with load. On 100,000 miles a year, that is $14,286 gallons of fuel consumed. DEF averages $2.40 per gallon, and 2.5% as percent of Diesel. Annual fuel cost of $38,001.
Maintenance averages of $3,500 per year in tires, and $8,000 in Vehicle Insurance. For annual maintenance/service, you're looking at around $12,000 a year.
Total vehicle operating costs for the year average around $89,543.
Then, we notice 1K a day, or 70K in 3 months. Annualized that is $280,000 gross, and after taxes is around $20.0, (15.3% Self-Employment tax). So annual tax bill, which could be lower with deducting some operating cost-- $56,000. So Net Income is around $224,000. Let's say you have a good accountant who can lessen your burden 3% on Operating costs at $89,543-- $86,856.71. So $224,000 becomes $137,143.29 a year.
From there, simply factor in your own health insurance premiums, etc. which is probably around $10,000 in the private marketplace.
All in all, great career, just wanted to put this in context for you guys.

5 hours of sleep a night ...I remember being young once lol. I used to truck 20 hours a day, for 5 days straight and take the weekend off when I was younger. Now I've been driving for 20 years. I can do a night or two of 5 hours of sleep. But I pay for it later. I try to get around 7 average now. Learned to work smarter, and not harder. Best of luck in your business.

Awesome video bro. I got my CDL in February. It was paid for by my current company. We are a short haul on a 13 mile loop hauling frac sand from the plant to the storage facility/rail loadout. I put in my two weeks last week and am going OTR for the training center whom I obtained my CDL through. A hotshot producer from Los Angeles is starting a new business venture (trucking) so we are the first employees to start this Amazon Prime relay run. Should be able to get my experience, plus she's paying $0.68/mile. Can't complain about that. I'd like to purchase a truck forming a consortium with the training center, as one of the former trainees accomplished this already. Her contract agreements entitles her to 40% of the profits. Good luck in your travels and stay safe brother.

Man I wish I could get into o/o. Im a company driver for a small business. I haul almonds right now and I haul my ass off all week and take home about 1k bucks, but its like 70ish hours per week of driving at least. The boss takes all the money. Youll never get rich working for someone else so true. The owner has about 50 trucks must make a profit of 50k per truck that goes in his pocket dude is a millionaire.

So i see an average of 750 a day
    -300 on diesel
    -50 truck payment
    -50 truck insurance
    - 50 truck repairs
So technically on a great day 300 a day as an owner operator 1500 a week!
    NOT GOOD AT ALL!!
you can make a little less as a company driver but WAAAY Less headaches!
    Not a good business anymore
    .

    • @jvetum7207
      @jvetum7207  3 года назад

That was just one day every day was different I would average 6k-7k a week and keep 5k-5.5k after diesel and insurance
