As an emigrant, I teared up when listening to Ronald Reagan's speech. 🥲 If, God forbid, Rumpf wins in 2024, I will go back to my home country, because the first 4 years of his clueless presidency gave me anxiety and I don't want to go through that ever again. Life is too short to live in fear.

In the 80s there were a nato maneuver herein Germany and some American soldiers were on our school yard with their / your tanks and we were simply „wow“ and loved them (and they were very kind people even to us 10 years old) and we loved your country.
A few years later, I was in the 9th class, we got an exchange student from Florida (if anyone knows her, many greetings to Ms Heinze) and she was a very kind person too and a perfect teacher, too. But one thing I never forgot was how she was amazed how free everything here in Germany is and how kind we were to one another (she told us that in her school back in USA there were metal detectors at the doors and we were shocked by that thought). It was then we realized not everything was cool in the USA.
And then we got even older and saw to what your gop evolved. Here in Germany every kid read about the deeds our ancestors gone beginning at the age of about 10 years old. Not because to make us feel guilty - it’s to prevent something like the holocaust or fascism never happened again.
Maybe now it’s your time to learn what fascism means and what is the end of it (and I hope you as a country learns fast bc when they rise to power it’s too late to learn).
