- One of a few tree jobs I need to get done. This one perfect for that pairing. Always have those discussion about what two saws would you pick ... How about these two actually working where it counts & not for play. :)
ALSO wanted to see if mixing those "pre mixed" two stroke fuels, this one from vp. IF you are in a pinch can you just dump some in a saw with your "preferred" mix??
I run The Husqvarna "synthetic blend" at 32:1 and had some of already in those saws. Dumped in the VP to see if it would foul the plugs...:) You won't see the end of that little deal in this video. :(
Hi Neighbor.
I know it’s all about the saws- but there’s also a good case to be made that planting willow trees is a bad idea 😂.
Great job and vid as always . Walt!
Farmertec 395 seems to be holding it's own. Thanks for the vid.
The 395 seems to be running as well as the 288. Great saw. Definitely worth the money.
As these holtzfforma saws seem to continuously improve in quality they are starting to become truly adequate saws for at least firewood production and small personal logging outfits. They still have just a spotty enough reputation to give hesitation to relying on them.
The built saws run about even with the Echo 590, and the larger saws are starting to really put up a fight against them in the value proposition. If they would be as consistently reliable it would be a no brainer. But you still hear of some defective saws just often enough to eat at your confidence.
This g395 seems to run right with the husky saw it's cloned from. It's been pretty impressive. I know you run your saws through their paces to get a real good idea as to how they truly will hold up. I'm a New Yorker myself, way up north, so we would be cutting in rather similar conditions. Your to the point opinions hold more value than some retailer running saws they sell.
Love the 395 and I tried a 28 inch bar just to see how it would be....Limbing and brushing is a lot less work now actually and it has saved my back. It pulls it just fine.
That’s why I put 1184 on both the case, cylinder and both sides of the gasket.
I really liked your video
Thank you :)
I've been using the canned stuff for my ms250 and stihl brush cutter since I got them 3 years ago. I use them so little that even going though a 1 gallon jug of gas in a summer would be a strech.
When I got them they had a deal where you doubled the warranty if you bought either a gallon of stihl fancy fuel or a 6 (0r 8?) pack of mini premix oil. Well the oil would have been a lifetime supply for me so I went with a gallon can of their fuel for each.
Nice knowing if I need 2 years to use up the other can that it's going to be fine. Plus I think it's fairly high octane.
I'm sure any of the brands are fine.
Recent g372 tear down, the lack of chamfer wore the machine grooves off the piston after about 15 tanks. Maybe some of the slap on the 395 as well?
Kind of torn as I want to run it as delivered, but damn curious why it rattles so much
Nice 😊 my man!!! 🤩🤙🤙
If the saw Will last and i hope so the noise is just a noise. Nice.
The shelf life of aviation fuel is great and is ethanol free. I only buy a gallon at a time. It has a small amount of lead
Shelf life is definitely very good compared to pump gas. The lead content is considerably higher than what used to be available for on road use. If you only use a small amount; probably no worse than living in an area with coal fired power plants tho.
Wondered if you could make a video all on the holzfforma 372’s and variants (372, 372xp, 372xt). Trying to decide if I want to take the leap and pick one up but wanted your take on the three and which you recommend from the factory with the least amount of work. Any advice would be appreciated!
I actually have scattered over a few video's when they first came out. Came to the conclusion for an almost ready to run saw the g365 was best and the g372xt was best to start with if you planned on porting them. The g372xp was a problem. My recommendation is to go with a g660 or now possibly the g288. If this one I'm running now the g395 lasts . its the best by far. Also the g5800 Joncutter has been a reliable saw even in a semi production environment ( firewood guy )
You've got to admit, a 395 is a bit much for brushing or liming.
Yup, but I'll run it until I'm beat I think....OR start with a 555 with a light 20inch B&C until I'm bored ( Most of the work is done )
Mine takes 20 pulls to start. I think I am going to check the flywheel gap
Mine is a hard starter as well, and sometimes almost impossible to restart. Haven't investigated yet. Might be as you suggest, might be a collapsed fuel line or soft pulse line. The saw is worth figuring out for sure.
I've had problems with FT circular rubber parts that were partially restricted by the rubber used in the piece itself. Intake manifolds 15-20% restricted by rubber inside the manifold airway. Poor manufacturing and quality control.. A friend said he had the same problem with some FT fuel and pulse lines. Can be tough to diagnose those problems. Nobody is perfect I suppose.
Maybe the G395 is the best clone saw out of the box?
Think so at this point, I have done nothing but dump in gas & bar oil and file the chain AND cut
@@afleetcommand That's what I've been hearing, a few guys think power wise they run at least as good as an xp. I think we're definitely seeing an evolution in manufacturing. Which let's be honest was almost inevitable.
yup
It would be nice to see the quality of the plastics get better, I haven't been around the blue plastics yet but the orange on my 372's and 288 kits still feels cheap compared to OEM.
I try to replace at least the fuel tank with good used OEM when I can get one, the 288 isn't the easiest to find a tank for. Even though it's a couple of years newer than my 372's it feels the weakest.
The blue clones are a lot better built than the orange from what I have seen better plastic and better parts but the pro supposed to be the best of them all but have not ran or had seen one run so I will not say
Have you measured the squish in any of your clone 361s? Curious what they measure with a gasket.
they sit around .025"
@@afleetcommand Thank you. The OEM ones that I have, measure there as well. The one I am currently running is .026 stock. It is interesting to see that similarity.
I got a farmtec 395 with a 32 inch bar and full house chain it runs like a raped ape really pissed me off it does better and faster than my 660 and i could have bought 5 saws for the price of the 660 stihl same bar and chain and the old farmer puts it to shame
