    So I have been spending tremendous time digging into the user experience i will get having an AMD Radeon graphics based PC and it seems as though I may need to look at either getting a new PC or going with Creality Otter. I just received a response from Einstar, as follows: "einstar:
    Thank you for your message and for your kind words of support! We truly appreciate your enthusiasm for our products.
    You're correct-our software currently leverages NVIDIA's CUDA technology, which means it requires an NVIDIA GPU for optimal performance. We understand that this can be an unexpected hurdle, especially after all the research you've done.
    If you decide to explore other options in the meantime, we completely understand. Please know that we'll be here whenever you're ready to revisit our solutions. Our team is constantly innovating, and we hope to support your projects in the future.
    Thank you again for your understanding and for being part of our community."

    Metric is infinitely simpler once you're past the mental wall of having to learn something new.

    Nice video. Noticed you didn't increase the working distance though. That would help massively scanning such a large object. Lay the part on the ground also and lay a crinkled up blanket to act as features 👍

    • @treasurestatetoolbags
      @treasurestatetoolbags  Год назад +1

      Yeah... A lot of lessons learned. Blanket idea is good idea, that would have helped. I'm planning on scanning the back end of my pickup to design a bumper, so I'll definitely be increasing working distance on that one. Thanks for watching!

    when flipping the object you need to start a new scan and "stich/align" it together in post

    • @treasurestatetoolbags
      @treasurestatetoolbags  Год назад

      Thanks for the advice. That was a little frustrating, doing it in post would have probably saved me some time.

      @@treasurestatetoolbags Can you try scanning in hybrid mode and placing tracking-stickers on one side only so it can differentiate the symmetry better?

  • @bambeds
    @bambeds Год назад +1

    Very thorough review, nicely done! I use this scanner for truck beds and have also found it to be a great value. I never use tracking dots and I've found that running it on texture tracking mode works even better than hybrid tracking mode. I'm not sure why this would be the case but it's worth playing around with that setting if you haven't tried it yet.

    • @treasurestatetoolbags
      @treasurestatetoolbags  Год назад +1

    5:38 newest release has a rewind function finally. But for this scan I would have added markers. Not enough features and it has symmetry as well.

    • @treasurestatetoolbags

      That's awesome they added those updates. I haven't scanned much since. Yep, I agree, any scans like this in the future will have markers added.

      I'll work on a video as I start scanning more things. I'm a fusion noob, so it would have been painful to watch me struggle doing that. Thanks for watching!

      The shining 3d software has functionality that let's You create planes and reference points and lines so when You import into fusion it already has a coordinate system attached to reference it a plane in fusion. Very nice 3D scanner. Still not very accurate. But to go to laser scanners is just insanity expensive. The next scanner up from Einscan is like $20k

  • @RocanMotor

    Awesome! I also own one of these einstars- you can likely cut down on your scan time significantly by pre-processing the part a bit. I use cheap cans of DRY foot powder spray- inexpensive and washes off easily when dry. Subscribed- excited to see more of this project- I am working on something similar with my 2002.

    Im super keen to purchase the same scanner.
    It'll be used for automotive.
    I come from a 3d animation background, so Ive been 3d modelling for nearly 25 years.(3d studio Max 2.0).
    Im going to hit up a heap of friends in the automotive industry to chip-in to purchase it.
    I think I have a good sales point given my knowledge of 3d modelling, and owning a full copy of ZBrush thats amazing at cleaning up 3d scan data.
    ZBrush creates a duplicate of the 3d scanned model but with beautiful end-loop geometry.
    The Zbrush outputted model works way beTTer in Fusion 360.
    Learning the ins and outs of the software is 1,000,000% worth it....
    There should be plenty of Shining youtube tutorials.

    try this, mix 40% baby powder and 60% alcohol in a spray bottle, spray all over the part, let it dry then re scan the part to cover all the black areas.

    • @treasurestatetoolbags

      Nice, yeah, next time will go much smoother. I figured all the dirt/grime on the axle would help better, which it did to a point, but yeah an overall consistent coating would have been great.

    These scanners don't like black surfaces, Spray the surface with a mixture of alcohol and baking powder and let it dry. Things should scan a lot easier.

      Thanks for the DIY recipe, that sounds really easy, I'll mix some up on the next shiny/black scan I do.
      Yep, would have made life a little easier. Need to get out and do some more scanning on the Jeep here soon for some shock mounting ideas - luckily those surfaces are covered with years of dirt and grime, so they should scan real nice.
