In memory of my dear friends George and Thea Cvijonvich of Serbia and Switzerland. George was Serbian Russian Orthodox and his loving wife/partner Thea was Swiss Celt. George saw his parents dragged out from their home and murdered by WWII Communists in Yugoslavia when George was only 17 years old. George and Thea were Russian Orthodox Christian. George worked on Radio Free Europe during the war that killed his family. May God bless my friend George because he was the person whose kindness and Christian statement showed me that Orthodox Christianity is the bridge between the original Christian faith and modern Protestantism. Bless you all. I was raised methodist but sadly didn't understand the fullness of Orthodoxy until late in my life. Bless you all. So sad that there are no comments. Bless you for preaching the old faith even though there are few comments. Much love to you for this ministry. Much love to you for enduring sharing the faith, when things seem bleak.
I'm an inter-denominational Christian, raised Southern Baptist, and I want to say thank you for this work. This information is absolutely fascinating! We didn't learn most of this in Sunday School at the Southern Baptist church. Excellent show!
Honorable mention to the late Dr. Michael Hieser, the author of The Unseen Realm, who brought the issue of God and gods, Elohim, to the forefront of Christian thinking.
@@lordofhostsappreciator3075 Actually, I have. I discussed it in a video recently called "Are Baptist's Protestant?" I don't think the Bible is the final authority for the EO. It is the Bible plus tradition.
@@lordofhostsappreciator3075 Thanks, but I doubt I will relinquish my conviction that the Bible is more than just tradition. It is the highest authority on what God has said. Thanks for the scripture references. I will check those out.
@@lordofhostsappreciator3075 but the tradition both EO and RC hold today came much, much later after the Scriptures - meaning, after the 1st century, so we absolutely CANNOT hold later views from any church father on the same level as the apostles! so, p. Ingram is correct. later tradition (anything after the 1st century) doesn't hold any author or obligation upon us. it's certainly phenomenal to read, study, and learn from them, but they were/are not authority! the same goes with so much adored Augustine on the West. i do not hold him as authoritative in my life at all.
Good. I am glad to see that I am not the only Protestant cautiously interested in Orthodoxy's viewpoints. I think they remember many things the West has forgotten, but the West has the technical side of salvation and doctrine understood better. We are only missing a better cosmological understanding.
Superb. When I was an atheist scientist, the existence of "false gods" did lend a lot of credence to dismissing God the Creator. The more I learn, the more it seems like maybe after Christ undermined their influence and control over the world, the satan probably uses their diminishing relevance by likening them to God. If we're moving toward not believing in them, then he just has to push us further in the same direction. Just a thought.
This is seriously dope. Two of my favorite AF radio priests doing a show together! Fr. Stephen, your Bible studies have been excellent for me on my path to Orthodoxy! Fr. Andrew, you and Pastor Mike need to make more episodes of the Areopagus. That was my first and favorite AF podcast.
At some point you were talking about christians being materialists and I really recognized myself in your example with the pill for a stomach ache. I remember reading in a prayerbook from my grand-grandmother and in there were prayers to saints against stomach aches, toothpain, hearaches, etc… thinking, why would someone pray for something so trivial? Great insight
I have just started to listen to your podcast and I will start from the beginning. This is excellent information, and very happy to see the church talking about these esoteric things that are clearly in the bible. Unfortunately in the past one would have to go to protestants to learn about these things found in the bible. Jesus said just as in the days of Noah so will be the son of man. We must be prepared for the coming of our messiah and the time that will usher him in.
Wow! This is fascinating! answering questions I've had for a long time! Came here from the Hank Hanegraaf interview with you. So excited to have found this podcast! 🤓💛
Interesting conversation, I typed "demons in orthodox understanding" and someone mentioned this podcast on some forum. I am at 27 minutes now and I definitely agree that dead visiting us is almost certainly demonic activity and that people are oblivious to this. However about Buddhist miracle being demonic activity I can't be so sure, yeah it could be but a lot of their practices are somewhat similar to our own like: fasting, non violence, mantras(thinking of hesycasm) and meditation. Yeah there are tweaks here and there but basically these effect people's minds similarly to our own so who can say that a devout Buddhist can't access energies of God and get some of the gifts that saints get. Even when I read of capabilities that devout people get from eastern religions they are all the same: remote viewing, knowing time of death of self and others, "supernaturally" telling people about their future children, knowing everything about a person they just saw for a first time, praying or otherwise intervening for someones health or knowimg the outcome of the sickness. It could be definitely if they go to those "gods" of theirs to get them or preform a miracle but some people just have those abilities from devotion to spiritual practice, I don't think that God gives saintly abilities only to orthodox. Like we are 300 million people 4% of the worlds population I just refuse to think that 96% are devil worshipers or cut of from gods gifts.
They have episodes about specifically what kind of worship would be demonic. It’s not that 96% of people in the world are worshipping demons, it’s that within various non Orthodox religions you see what’s typically a small subset of people attempting to initiate spiritual encounters. And completely opening yourself up to the spiritual world ready to receive whatever is out there is dangerous because there are demons out there.
Yes People are dying but we need to gather ourselves together. Jesus commanded us ;do not neglect the gathering of yourselves together. Christians have been neglecting Jesus;s command s we follow Ceasar's command
Really looking forward to future episodes as I already have learned quite a lot in this 1st episode.Thank you fathers for starting this stream as we finally get to hear an Orthodox perspective on these topics that we only really heard about from Dr Michael Heiser from the Protestant world in recent times.
Thankyou both Fathers..this was a wonderful show..very helpful. May God give you strength in all your endeavours. As this was done 2 years ago I clearly have many shows to catch up on...By the way, their intro music is awesome...who/what is it?
Can we get a Playlist of all the Lord of spirits podcasts? I might make one on my channel just so it exists, hopefully ancient faith ministries doesn't mind
I am not an Orthodox Christian, or a materialist (not even a little) and while I enjoyed your conversation and respect your scholarship I cringed when you said that a Buddhist miracle rather than being absurd was the work of demons (paraphrasing).
@@Cthuski Hey bro I just wrote this comment before reading yours so would you respond to it? This show is very much rooted in second temple Judaism (pre-Christianity) and early Christian patristic tradition, you'll see this more and more as you keep watching!
Why do you never refer to our Lord as Lord Jesus. You only refer ro Him aas Christ. Christ is not a name; it's a title--Greek for Messiah, "Anointed One'". That makes Him an impersonal abstraction, a symbol. His Name is Yeshua, Jesus. This makes Hium personal. Which is what we need.
They do refer to Christ as Jesus. The reason why not just them, but many prefer to say Christ regularly rather than Jesus is probably for the same reasons one would prefer to refer to God the Father as "God" rather than Yahweh. "God" is a title too.
He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Matthew 16:15-16. There is nothing wrong with calling him as Christ, that is who he is.
Because it's a sign of respect. Just as you might refer to the President as President instead of Joe Biden. Sometimes titles are appropriate even when talking about your friends.
Looking back on this first episode. Wow fathers what an accomplishment to the Glory of God. What a great podcast that has been a blessing to so many! It's been a great ride, let's go!

Congratulations guys for a successful first episode! Very enjoyable! I look forward to the next one!
I don’t know why, but these two look nothing like how I pictured them. Wonderful podcast!
non denominational protestant here love my church but I love your podcast too
Are you reformed?
Only the reformed are protestants.
Take care🙂
Funny enough I have the Zondervan Basics of Ancient Ugaritic text. Thanks for the podcast, I went back to watch all of the episodes!
However about Buddhist miracle being demonic activity I can't be so sure, yeah it could be but a lot of their practices are somewhat similar to our own like:
fasting, non violence, mantras(thinking of hesycasm) and meditation.
At one hour and 5 minutes keeps getting better and better
They have episodes about specifically what kind of worship would be demonic. It’s not that 96% of people in the world are worshipping demons, it’s that within various non Orthodox religions you see what’s typically a small subset of people attempting to initiate spiritual encounters. And completely opening yourself up to the spiritual world ready to receive whatever is out there is dangerous because there are demons out there.
Wonderful podcast. I just found you!
Thank you!
Yes People are dying but we need to gather ourselves together. Jesus commanded us ;do not neglect the gathering of yourselves together. Christians have been neglecting Jesus;s command s we follow Ceasar's command
Wouldn't that be all the more reason to gather since it is souls salvation we are talking about.
this is wonderful!❤🔥
Lookin forward to more “bible stuff”! Keep up the good work!
Excellent! :) Thank you !
Really looking forward to future episodes as I already have learned quite a lot in this 1st episode.Thank you fathers for starting this stream as we finally get to hear an Orthodox perspective on these topics that we only really heard about from Dr Michael Heiser from the Protestant world in recent times.
Really great show.
Great show !
The content is good and the host are great. The video is unlistenable to because of the constant beeping.
It goes away after the first 15 minutes
You can actually visit Mount Hermon and it's generally not less safe than any other place in Israel. Not sure where the cave is though.

Can we get a Playlist of all the Lord of spirits podcasts? I might make one on my channel just so it exists, hopefully ancient faith ministries doesn't mind
ruclips.net/p/PLZxCUWw2kdo1vAsOOOa3RwzwYvHbybjHR We have one now! Enjoy!
Dr Heiser was Orthodox and didnt know it??
Right? hahahahah! Most def not orthodox, but it is good to see his discoveries being considered in the orthodox teachings. Hope they mention him.
Is that Steve Christoforou doing the Intro?
Yes it is!
@@AncientFaithMinistries I could recognize that voice anywhere. Really enjoying the Podcast so far.
hi
I am not an Orthodox Christian, or a materialist (not even a little) and while I enjoyed your conversation and respect your scholarship I cringed when you said that a Buddhist miracle rather than being absurd was the work of demons (paraphrasing).
What else would it be?
@@Cthuski Hey bro I just wrote this comment before reading yours so would you respond to it?

Is this just piggy backing off of Heiser’s work, or are these ideas that have been in the Orthodox Church already?
This show is very much rooted in second temple Judaism (pre-Christianity) and early Christian patristic tradition, you'll see this more and more as you keep watching!
I'm an atheist. I actually agree that the universe is deterministic. I don't believe I librarian free will
Come to Orthodoxy!
He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Matthew 16:15-16. There is nothing wrong with calling him as Christ, that is who he is.
Because it's a sign of respect. Just as you might refer to the President as President instead of Joe Biden. Sometimes titles are appropriate even when talking about your friends.
