- Sills & Burnett at the Met
TV Special 13 January 1976. Carol Burnett joins opera diva Beverly Sills for an hour of music and song from the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City.
Carol is such a great act… Beverley just amazing!
Thank you for posting this. I was 11 years old the year this was broadcast and it was past my bedtime.
“Goodbye….to our little table…?” gets me every time 😂😭
Thank you!!!! :)
That sounds like Garry Moore doing the unseen director in the skit at approx 11:24
It would be nice to know what aria Sill is singing and in what key.
It was in C Major. I do not know the title but it was an aria that she sang regularly throughout her career.
It's from Donizetti's Linda di Chamonix...
O luce di quest'anima from Linda di Chamounix Act I by Donizetti. Don't know the key but the original is in Db; major. She might be singing it in E major.
I only just discovered Beverly Sills through the recent Carol Burnett 90th Birthday celebration! 😮 She was a little before my time. This special was referenced. I have been diving into her actual operas. Genuine warmth & joy shine through in her performances.
Sills was fabulous. The most gracious, wonderful entertainer. What a combo. What a treat. Thank you ❤❤
