Jay Leno is a genuine guy who does what he loves. Good for him. We should all be so lucky. I loved him in the tonight show and Jay Leno's garage is another great show.
Leno has done many things no one will ever know about to help loads of people. He has a better heart than most in show business. Believe what you wish but the good guys rarely get the coverage.
It's weird, but I wasn't crazy about Jay on tonight, but since I've seen him on these videos, I love him. He's such a genuine, regular guy. His knowledge about cars is incredible.
So that '55 Buick Roadmaster used to have a Oldsmobile engine in it. Jay has a huge 572 cubic inch Chevrolet crate engine in it now and it is still a sweet ride. My favourite type of car. Totally stock looking but with a slightly modified drivetrain. Bigger engine and better brakes and suspension to be more specific. The first I became aware of Jay he was on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine in 1981 sitting on a Harley Panhead and in the article he said he was only in show business so he could afford to buy motorcycles and cars. Coolest guy ever.
Jay,Thank you for introducing me to "Factory - Original Jaguar E-Type" ..... very usefull.Your stories of the relationship with your Mother and Father is so reminiscent of my childhood. Similarly I managed to bend my Fathers Ford Cortina GT the first day I had my license - right in front of him as I reversed it into the gate - good job !I admire you immensely for your passion for everything automotive, and your fabulous sensitivity with other people who have donated cars into your custodianship - you really are a magnificent human being. I loved this episode! I had to laugh when Jay says he's not an investor...true perhaps, but he is one heck of a saver! Google the details, but last heard he hasn't spent any of his Tonight Show money! He would always just live on whatever paycheck was smaller, so I admire his saving discipline! And of course his fun car knowledge...so great at sharing his knowledge...in a fun way! Thanks CarCrazy!
Stick with it, I suppose you have your permit now. Old cars are an absolute joy to own. They can be practical as daily drivers though you may give up some new tech. There is no comparison though, old cars have much more character and style than the plastic cookie cutter cars today. Buy the best of whatever you can afford and learn to work on it.

old car are the best cars to own, yes they aren't as comfortable or reliable, however they a nicer to drive, easy to fix (and you learn a lob by fixing them) and they make you a better driver. What car do you own now?
