I’ve had an Airstream and presently have a FWC truck camper, next up will be a van. I will definitely contact Bonita Vans. This build is very close to what I’m imagining and looks exceptional. I like the idea of a smaller builder. Lots of Van companies share out of control and losing quality. Fabulous job on this van!
I liked this van and the builder looks like he is very knowledgeable although I would double check on the carbon monoxide alarm and propane situation. The only things I would add are a water filtration system and mosquito nets. In the future though, I would put the gray water valve release button near the driver so it can be opened while driving. We have our set to dripping only and dump while on the freeway, for example, without having to look for a specific place to do it.

I was just wondering if there was a "wandering" swap site somewhere. I have a beautiful little home, ocean side but I would like to take a van or motor home for a 2-3 month trip. I thought that maybe there must be a spot to negotiate swapping for a set amount of time for those folks living the van life that may be looking for a few months of warmth, running water, spectacular views, laundry and a house that doesn't rock in the wind. Swap out for a spell kind of sites??
I would really like to hear from Bonita vans about this if I can, but as a gamer and content creator I have a pretty nice computer desk setup. When making these vans I always see a small table for laptop. But I've only ever seen 1-2 full gaming rigs setups. I'd be curious to see if it could be done WITH all the stuff in this video too

To answer you, yes it can be done depending on which van you go with. It would have to be a longer van like this one (170 sprinter). You would have to reconfigure some of the layout to make it work and personally I already have a design for that van

I appreciate the accessibility to the system components in the garage and, the airflow designed into the space. If Carter wasn't a 5,500 mile round trip for me, I'd ask him to fix mistakes made on my professional build. Question for Carter: I have a Rixens system as well. I noticed you have a fan ventilating your Rixens cabinet. Is the fan exhausting hot air or is it blowing cooler into? If exhausting, where do you have the hot air emptying into? PS: I use the gap between the mattress and the door to throw my dirty clothes into the garage.
Would get more solar and delete the propane system and go for induction top. That said this is a really nice build and I don't get why more builders or customers don't opt for the same lighting design here. Regular ones just feel so dated!!

I mean I can do that. AWD sprinter is roughly $70-80k, rough estimate for parts/materials/components used is $55-80k and then whatever labor would be on top of those 2 numbers. Some people charge a flat rate and some charge hourly. Custom builds are probably more due to spending more time on fitting things correctly, compared to builders that have templates for set floor plan builds. Someone with experience should take about 600-800 hours of labor. Under 10 vans done I’d say about 1000+ hours of work. Oddly it will likely wash out because those with experience charge more for their experience yet those with less experience charge more due to it takes them that much longer to do it right. Safe to say over $200k for a build like this. Hope that helps

Always a great question. We know an AWD 170 sprinter are roughly 70-80k and builds can run anywhere from 80-300k between labor (complexity of custom) and parts used. Certain parts can swing the price by a lot and also adding exterior components will add or subtract a lot as well

This is one of the best vans I've seen. Love the oven, too, instead of just having a one plate induction cook top. If it was my van, though, I'd have exchanged the pantry space for a hanging closet, but that's just personal preference.
Had a shower in both my full time vans and I can count on one hand how many times I used them. I’m with you but there are those like this other person that said “I prefer to be clean” and to that I also agree but space saving in 60 sq feet is nice when I can use gym showers
I’ve owned a number of rv’s over the years, rarely used the shower and thus chose not to put a shower in my 148 Transit. Much more fun to use icy lakes and streams to “get clean” in-one with nature kinda thing.
A carbon monoxide detector will not go off if there is a propane leak. Specific gases require specific monitors. If you have a big enough propane release, the monitor won't matter because your oxygen will be displaced and you will suffocate before you can exit the van, even if the door is open. Just because we've installed propane in RV's, travel trailers and boats for years, doesn't mean the danger doesn't exist. Electric is just a smarter choice.

Most of the time, those systems are merely casually mentioned in passing, when in reality they perform a life saving function and should be standard equipment and expected in a build.
There are two primary spots where propane leaks. One is at the propane tank fitting and the other is at the stove fitting. Detectors should be at both locations. My professional builder only put a detector on the outside of the sealed propane locker. Highly doubt it would detect a leak inside the locker (which drains outside the van). Really like what Carter has done here which is ... think.
