I wanna thank you for your great channel and the best information! It brought me to buy the SC 154 and the Cassegrain 154. Best wishes from Germany! Michael
+Kenneth Cantu Hi Kenneth, Yes, this can also be used visually and provide a good image. If you only want a visual scope and will not be taking photo's with it, I would suggest looking at a reflector as it will be less expensive and provide excellent visual views. If your main goal is deep-sky photography with a large chip CCD camera, then this scope is very well corrected for that type of use and provides a very clean image. And it can also double as a visual scope. Thanks -Ken Orion Telescopes
Hi Jessie, No, this system entirely uses mirrors, so there is no false color of any kind, compared with a refractor lens design. Thanks -Ken Orion Telescopes
How was the results on planets? i am thinking to buy also an Rc 6 inch to use also on planets and other smaller objects to have an upgrade on this area over my skywatcher ed80/600
@@jessienath1973 i have skywatcher Eqm35-pro goto worked really good with the ed80 was not sure if rc6 would be a litle to heavy. For. My mount. Itis recomanded up to 7 kg for astro with the eqm35 pro and with the rc6 and all accesories i might have 7.5 kg. But i have a friend who bought same telescope and has same mount and it worked good for astrophotography so i decided to buy it also
Hi, Want to know if this can be used for Planetary imaging by adding Barlow & Planetary imaging camera like ZWO? Also want to know if it can be mounted on EQ5 mount & do Deep Sky Astrophotography with DSLR?
Hi Abhijit, Yes, you can add magnification to this scope and image the planets, and the dovetail will allow this optical tube to attach to an EQ5. Thanks -Ken Orion Telescopes
Hi abhijit, You'd have to check with any local dealers to see if they stock this particular unit. On our front webpage, find the "dealer locator" at the bottom of the page, and you can see any available dealers near you. Thanks -Ken Orion Telescopes
Hi great video! I have one question for you Ken. I own a Celestron 8 Inch Newtonian that came with my VX mount and a 4 Inch Explorer Scientific refractor but was looking at this scope to get better images. I use both a DSLR and a ZWO 120MC camera; more so my cropped sensor 70D. Outside of the extensions tubes supplied; would anything else be needed to image with this? My newt from Celestron is not that great for imaging so I am looking into an RC and hoping to get one in the next month or two.
Hi Ted, you shouldn't need much else to get started. As always, if you come across any obstacles you can always call us and we'll gladly help you out but this should be all you need.
Hi Flightguy69, This scope weighs 12.1 lbs, and the Starseeker IV mount is rated at 13 lbs capacity. When you add all your accessories such as finderscope, diagonal and eyepieces, you'll be at the max, perhaps slightly more. The problem is you'd probably see a bit excess vibration being right at the weight capacity limit, so it probably wouldn't be ideal. I think a larger EQ mount would be better, such as the Sky View Pro mount or the Sirius. Thanks -Ken Orion Telescopes
+Eric Cooper Hi Eric, Yes, you could use this as a terrestrial telescope, but it might be a little overkill for just that. I would look at a simple spotter or other refractor if you just want a daytime telescope. But if your goal is mainly deep-sky astro-photography, and you also wanted to use the scope for some daytime views, yes it would work for that combination. Thanks -Ken Orion Telescopes
That vixen dovetail is a disaster and should not be sold with any large optical tube over 5 inches. Mine fell off the mount twice in one night. I suffered minor scratches. My CCD camera was 2 days old and did not get destroyed. Slight scratch. I switched to a Losmandy and there are no issues holding the scope with accessories. You also failed to mention that balancing these optical tubes with such a small dovetail is near impossible if you're doing astrophotography.
Thanks for your feedback and we apologize for that negative experience. We use the 8 inch Vixen bar on reflectors as big as our 8" Skyview Pro and it has proven to be very reliable. It might have been that the bar wasn't properly connected to your OTA but it's certainly true that a Losmandy dovetail would provide much more stability. However we have found that the 8" Vixen works great in supporting imagers (CCD or DSLR) and some guiding equipment and still achieve a good balance on the right mount. It would be great to hear from you about the specific equipment you have and about your overall experience with that dovetail bar. Please email us if you have the time, we always appreciate this kind of user feedback. You can email us at support@telescope.com or contact us here: www.telescope.com/custserv/contactus.jsp
+04Stefan07 Hi 04Stefan07, Yes, you can easily take hi resolution images of the moon and planets. I would suggest doing eyepiece projection, or using a Barlow lens to get the resolution up high enough to see those details, but the scope can easily do it. Thanks -Ken Orion Telescopes

Is it recommended for visual?
just ordered this the 6". How is it on planetary video imaging. Would i still need a semi-apo filter to clean up the image.

Hello, offering Orion RC unlike a GSO, Astro-Tech, TPO? thank you very much
Who is this OTA actually made by? If it's Guan Sheng Optical then they should get a mention as well instead of claiming it as your own.

Wich one of your focal reducers would you recommend for this OTA? I would like to take the focal length down below 1000mm if that is possible.

Will the baffles break down like you se in some foam products?
The internal baffles are made of metal, not foam, they won't break down.
Do you ship to the Philippines?
