  • *** Sorry for the audio quality at the beginning of the video!!! Mic issue.
    Have a Ritchey Chretien and curious of whether its usable with an eyepiece??? Want another opinion on if the RC6 is a good overall scope package? This is the video for you!

    I had the 6" classical cassegrain and found it good for the planets, lunar and planetary nebulae. I sold it due to the collimation being a real pain. They also cool down much faster than an SCT or a Maksutov. For $500 not bad at all.

      You know that is one thing that I forgot to mention. I'm sure that cool-down would be a lot quicker compared to an SCT! Thanks for bringing that up.

    Mam jeden podobny teleskop. Classical-Cassegrain 6" ale trochę dłuższa ogniskowa f/18,6. Jestem bardzo zadowolony z obrazu. Nadaje się super do obserwacji planet i księżyca. Przerósł moje oczekiwania. Obraz bez aberracji chromatycznej. Dobry kontrast/"ostrość obrazu".
    Jestem bardzo zadowolony 😊.
    Muszę jednak wymienić "fokuser" na taki podobny do tego, który Ty masz 2". Dobrze by było dorobić również baffle i osłonę wokół zwierciadła wtórnego.
    Ciekawe czy by była duża różnica jakości obrazu.
    Dzięki za recenzję. Fajny kanał astronomiczny👍.
    Pozdrawiam serdecznie 👋.

      Thanks for the feedback on the Classical-Cassegrain 6". I have not had one of those as well;)

      @@AVTAstro They look identical apart from the shape of the mirrors. The RC mirrors are hyperbolic.

    That was a cool Astro Physics eyepiece! I didn't even know they made them.

      Yeah that's kind of a rare piece! I have never seen one before. In their early days they essentially imported Japanese plossls under their own name.

    Another good review. I had the 6" F9 as well but ending up selling it. I just found that decent refractors and good Newtonians just left my RC sitting on the shelf. Collimation is a pain because of the multiple adjustments as you pointed out. Not difficult but time consuming. (made me appreciate collimating the old Mewlon 180!). The secondary obstruction made it less than ideal on the planets. Visually I only used it on the Moon. AP wise I had trouble guiding due to focal length and the non tilt correcting focuser . But I think that is due to my equipment/limitations than the scope. It's light, it's cheap and often easily found on the secondary market, cool down times were not too bad either. I would suggest it perhaps as a 3rd or 4th scope, but there are so many better choices out there.

      My 6" Newtonian wasn't bad even before I refigured the mirror. I can't imagine collimating something that's more tedious than a SCT.

      I just got the RC6 and it was collimated by Agenastro and looking at Jupiter a few night ago was poor! I was aware for visual Planets not good and I was very sadden. 2 days later took out my Orion 180 Mac and it blew it away that I could see the Planets bands. I will try the Moon next...

    Unlike the SC the RC is not closed, it is not protected from dust, it is a handicap for me.

    How can an eyepiece have a 100° field of view? What is really meant by that value?

    • @AVTAstro
      @AVTAstro  Год назад +1

      Just how wide the FoV it provides. Your eye(assuming ur not an alien trying to pull my chin😅🤣🤣🤣) is about 135*. So eyepieces can get as close to that as possible.

    • @kherrick1
      @kherrick1 8 месяцев назад +1

      an unltrawide field ocular's "apparent field of view" is like looking out a window and by moving your eye around, being able to actually peer outside around the window frame with one eye, as opposed to looking down through a tube with a restrictive eyepiece like
      40º or similar apparent field of view.

    If that's a GSO it is made in Taiwan Vlad.
    Your audio is popping in and out of good to bad Vlad
    It's so poor it's making me kinda sad Vlad
    It started sounding better making me glad Vlad
    But then it went back to piss poor I shouted Egad Vlad!!

      If you would have bothered to spend the one second to look at the video description you would have seen that I apologized for this. Sorry I have a job and 3 kids under 10 so don't have time to take 14 takes on a video;)
