Hope is extremely powerful, she defeated Josie in the dream sequence but we have to remember Josie is a Gemini twin (strongest witch of the entire coven) and also a siphoner, now that she’s tapped into her darkness that makes her even stronger. She’s basically Kai with black magic.

The concept of dark magic has been really inconsistent throughout the series. In the originals, we see witches do dark magic all the time. The idea is to draw power from sacrifices... Dalia and the Hollow basically created this brand of magic. However, in legacies, we see a completely different story; the idea is way more dramatized.

Oli W those witches were like the most powerful of the powerful. They used dark magic but it didn’t hurt them. Witches like Bonnie and Josie and Lizzie suffered consequences from using dark magic. Probably because they’re so young and inexperienced. Freya, Dahlia, Esther and the Hollow were all centuries old. Other minor league witches used different forms of black magic, channeled sacrifices and dark objects, that power didn’t necessarily come from them.

I’m so annoyed with everyone saying the show is making Hope look weak. Just watch the scene and take into context what is happening. Hope, along with everyone else, is in total shock and sadness at what has happened to Josie. Hope loves Josie and to see someone she loves going through a darkness that she is very familiar with is absolutely terrifying.
So of course Hope was caught off guard when Josie hit her with a sleeping spell. She never in a million years thought she would have to defend herself from someone she deeply cares about 😢

@@Master-ls2op I don't really have a problem with that lol we've had like 13 combined seasons of basically the same narrative and tone. I like that legacies is different and not a copy and past of the TVD and Originals. Big bad shows, good guys fight bad guy, bad guy dies, good guy dies......jk he's actually alive lol

Nobody is saying Hope is weak in terms of power. Hope is weak in terms of character development. She hasn't really progressed as the season went on. Most of her storylines revolve around monster of the week or the romance with Landon. Hell even Landon has more character development than Hope. That's everyone's biggest problem.
I know right. The only thing tjat changed was Hope opening up to others and having friends but that was like in s1 in s2 we should have seen more development. In the last episodes Hope was literally powerless. The only good thing was her fight with kai. The thing is though that her emotions het in the way. In this scene for example she is really wooried about jossie and she lets her guard down. We need Hope to put aside her feelings and go a little savage on Jossie. I personally want to see Jossie hurting landon perhaps by working with malivore or necromancer and kidnapping Landon. Hope will definately go mad!!! Until now she is been the always in control and adult girl. We need the more relaxed Hope. Her parents in her age, well klaus lived a thousands years before, but Hayley was going to parties having fun... we need the characters out of the school

Hope is weak in term of power. When it comes to magic, Hope can only do so much because, just like Bonnie, if she does a lot magic, she'll have headaches and will nose bleed whereas Josie is a siphoner and can siphon as much as magic as she can, use them without never ever getting enough. Hope is a source of magic to Josie.

When freya was in her age and lost her baby she got out of control burning down a village and making birds fall out of the sky dead... and Hope is more powerful than her. This is why she is always worried of controlling her feelings and using a small part of her magic. The nosebleeds and headcaches are not a problem to Hope thanks to her being a werewolf and having vampire blood. She only fainted once at the age of 8 after breaking the hollow's spell... and shecwas an untrained 8 year old witch breaking a spell that was cast by one of the strongest if not the strongest witch in the known history... like Kai josie is vulnerable to the effects of using too much magic. The problem is that normal witches produce magic but cant produce really fast, a siphoner can just absorb it instantly.
@@akak1297 I agree with you about Hope's characters development. But apparently Julie Plec thought that Hope already had her character development and wanted other characters to have a turn. Julie Plec felt that since season one focused on Hope. She wanted other characters to have a chance in the spotlight.
But what Julie need to realise is we need Hope to have the focus and development outside of Landon. Season one focused on Hope opening up to Landon learning to trust him again, learning to open up her heart again and let someone Landon in. When since her parents death she's been closed off. As if Alaric wasn't enough. They have a father daughter relationship and seems to have a deep connection. Why is it always about Landon when it comes to Hope's development. They even went so far as to call Hope finally being willing to start a relationship with Landon as part of her development. Every development Hope had in season one revolved around her relationship with Landon. Even before they got together. They even had Hope once again like Rafeal making sacrifices for Landon and not being appreciated for it.
Than season two the writers backseats Hope and when she did get any focus it was always Landon this Landon that and Josie got the dark witch storyline i wanted for Hope. They made Hope's character revolve around Landon's characters. Hope did focus on Josie later in episode 6. But even in Josie head Hope still managed to bring Landon up in conversation. Landon seems to be dead at the same time Hope too is in a coma. Their both out of commission at the same time. Why couldn't Hope have ended up in a coma without Landon also being out of commission? Why couldn't Landon die without Hope being in a coma? These two being out of commission is not connected or related to one another. At leas i hope not. I wish they would just for once focus on Hope and her development without it revolving around Landon.
The ending was the most bad ass thing I ever seen!

Here early before people start saying they’re making Hope look so weak...realize that Josie has tons and tons of DARK MAGIC inside of her...so yeah she’s super powerful...and so is Hope, but we all know Dark magic is crazy 😂
The black magic that Josie has is nothing that could affect hope because really that black magic does not compare to what hope could get to use and yes, if they are making hope look weak.

I totally agree, I'm tired of people whining about Hope not being as powerful. They're obviously going with the slow burn route with her character, Hopes power will grow and grow throughout the seasons until she unlocks her Tribrid potential. You can't have overpowered characters like Hope or there would be no conflict!!!! Y'all chill eventually we will see a super powerful Hope.
Plus Josies has always been very methodical so I could see how she could outsmart and over power characters like Hope, just look what she did with the simulation!! It was the same with Klaus even though he was hella powerful there were still characters that managed to overcome him.

Hope getting knocked out is actually doesnt make Hope weak, spell works the same for every unless you have protection spell pre casted on themselves. Rewatch the scene, Hope was being very caring and was gonna put Josie into sleep mode and Dark josie knew Hope can do that to her so Josie did it first to avoid putting to sleep plus if you guys noticed Josie couldnt break the boundary spell put up by Hope most probably on the cell, she literally had to break out using upper exist, And lets not forget Dark magic have limitsless potential.

The prison have boundary spell thats why its a prison in the school for supernatural, She either can siphon it or break through the buildings like the Cupid flea away and she obviously chosen the dramatic way.

Josie only put Hope to sleep because she's the only thing that can overpower her. Hope only has to work with the Twins to destroy the monsters because She is the only one powerful enough to syphon the Magic from. They kill monsters with her Magic.

@@coreys626 yeah you are right but although inadu used black magic her power was so evil it was just considered darkness and not black magic. Also dalhia practiced it too but it was a different kind of dark magic as well and almost noone knew her unlike esther who started the vampire sirelines
@@akak1297 Inadu's power was literally that, power, heck she wasn't even human anymore even in her own human body so i think it's safe to say that her "Dark Magic" was more like her own energy turned magic. As for Dahlia, she mostly used Dark Magic but yeah it was in a different form. Though maybe Quetsyah and Silas used it some times. I mean, i don't think there was any notable sorcerer before them right (true there was Arcadius but he wasn't a sorcerer and whatever he was after his death is just beyond anything else in this verse).

When Josie smiled when lizzie said she was filled with black magic, I think dark Josie wanted them to figure out before she made a entrance like this. She was literally waiting y’all. As for hope, that spell would work on anyone. Like it’s literally magic. She will wake up. We all know hope isn’t weak. First of all we don't know if she will have magic once she turns although i believe she will. No the dark magic will not affect her first of all because her blood is already part vampire and we had no such thing in the series before with heretics.

Only the heretics who do not have their own magic and the hollow when it possessed an other body could do magic and be campires at the same time. But i believe she will have magic but we need to take into acount every scenario

And as much as dark josie is awesome we don’t necessarily know if her power is infinite or if eventually she’ll need to siphone more to keep her power levels up

Look Hope is using traditional magic and Jossie uses black magic. There are miles of distance between those 2 types. Black magic can do almost anything while traditional magic even if that witch is super powerful cannot do that much. Everyone says that Hope should be as powerful as dalhia by now but what noone realizes is that thecpower dalhia had was all dark connective magic as well as freya's power in s2. After s3 we can actually see freya's power and even so she has access to ancestral magic too. The truth is even if Hope has a lot of power she needs years of training in order to control it

I would also say that Hope isn't invincible or immune to magic. Josie here is literally full of Dark Magic to the point i think this Josie is simply a new "being" literally born from it.
@@dikastederook6380 not that much. The magic is just in control that's all. And of course she is not immume to it. In order to be immumed to magic you need powerful protection. Like the totem inadu used in s4 or the shamans' spell that made rayna a phoenix and immume to all kinds of magic.

Erica Sharp I don’t understand how you’re failing to see how it’s the school that’s burning. The door she’s walking out of is clearly the front door of the school. You can tell because of the awning. Also she raised herself through the ground.. she most definitely would have not been able to do that if it was that wooden party building. Just go back and watch the last 20-25 seconds. You’ll be able to tell if you pause to look at it

As a fan of the Originals and Vampire Diaries I noticed quite a bit of inconsistencies. (hope's power, the idea of dark magic, how much magic can a witch siphon) I respect that legacies is trying to build their own brand but... I honestly feels a little bit betrayed . :)

In s6 Kai siphoned the antimagic spell around all mystic falls that was casted by the entire traveler coven. You would think that what kai did was too much not what jossie did. Also Hope's powers were stronger in new orleans because she is a new orlean witch aka used ancestral magic as well and because after the loss of her parents she barely controls herself. In s1 ep 14 it was only 2 days that she couldn't turn to a werewolf in order to take the steam off and she caused a small earthquake. She uses weak spells and access a small part of her power because she could lose control

And it was her own fault. She told her: "I put you back to sleep" and then Josie was just like: "Good idea!" and put Hope to sleep. Moral of this: Never tell the villian what you are about to do, cause he will likely do it before you.

She is not weak. It's simply because hope doesn't use dark magic. And of course even hope has limits(after all the sandclock was incredibly powerful. Even Necromancer want it)
Furthermore hope is not completely awaken her tribrid powers.
Hope might be powerful but she's not invincible and isn't immune to magic itself and dark magic is extremely powerful and dangerous even when you barely tape into it and Josie is literally full of dar magic, to the point i feel this Josie is literally another personnality (or even being) born from magic itself. Though i also think that she took Hope by surprise.

So...whats the issue with Hope being weaker than Josie? Atm if Josie is stronger than Hope i see no issue. Just because Hope is a tribred doesn't mean she is going to be the pinnacle of all power. Yes her potential is great and yeah she is a first born M Witch. But that doesn't mean she is the ultimate being. Nor has it been implied she will become invincible...unless i missed that. Willow, Bonnie, Freya, Dahlia, Qetsiyah, any of these witches if the writers made them use their true power could wipe the floor with literally everything in Legacies and far surpass Hope and Josie.
Point is...no issue with Josie being stronger than Hope atm. She may very well be stronger than her. Doesn't matter if hope is a first born, doesn't mean she comes in first in the vast magical universe. There can be many entities and also other kids with tremendous power and potential.
Its not a 'Hope' world.
Secondly. Witches always make the show good. Vampire without humanity, or a feral wolf, just cannot compare to a Dark Witch. What to expect when all things came from witches. Just can't beat them.

Dark Josie is a rip off from Buffy's Willow season 5 or 6 when she goes dark after losing Tara. That being said she performed a couple dark spells so she wouldn't really have that much power built up. Also, it wanes over time so anything she is casting would be draining her much faster. Keep in mind that Hope is the child of a family of Originals. Her grandmother is the creator of the Vampire and Great Aunt Dahlia is fucking black magic incarnate. Dahlia taught Freya who then taught Hope. Not to mention anything Vincent, the covens of New Orleans, and of course Davina her other aunt. have taught her over the years. Her uncle Cole taught the witches to make dark objects. Hope who was doing astral projection with ease as a 6-year-old with a coloring book grimoire. All this power is constant for her and only grows with each passing experience.
However, if I was Josie I could have siphoned the school for its protective magical properties they have installed and that has only been strengthening since they were placed. After which I would have dropped hope and stuck her in some kind of suspended animation, using her tri-bred as a magical battery that more or less cant die. Then i could have found the armory and cleaned it out. Mystic falls has plenty of places to hide so then its a matter of setting up a layer and doing whatever i wanted. But hey i watch this shit way to much. I think i have seen VD 5 times over and the Originals 10 times or so.
