Happy to see somebody using a perkeo. Me my self own one with f3.5 lens and such a wonderful camera, even with color film. I can put it in my pocket easily super satisfying to shoot with.

Couldn't agree more. Colour film renders beautifully in it.

Good video for this Very nice and handly camera. You can add a rangefinder on it to help focusing and this avoids to buy later models which are more expensive. It s a very good way to taste medium format. To avoid focusing issues better to start with landscape ( the lens is sufficiently good) with a tripod and a small aperture. Then you can test tiny dof with object at small distance and why not portraits. It s really well made and his size permit to take it everywhere.

Wise words. I have since got a rangefinder and it's great, though I now find myself converting in my head between feet and metres!

I find this one produces slightly sharper images than my Agfa Isolette.

Very Film Noir, all light and dark but no real contrast. I tend to find that with medium format. The grey tone predominates. Yeah, I like the dancing kid shot best.
I've got a Bessa, which I'm ashamed to say I've only put about three rolls through, will have to buy some Kodak Gold for it, if we get a nice summer.
Better a quiet night in Singapore than no night in Singapore as my Dad used to say, or was that KL ... probably Bangkok. No wonder he said his days in the Army were the best of his life.

Bugis was known for being a thriving red light cesspool up until the 1980s. Much more sanitised now. I agree, these old camera lenses don't have much contrast. Gives you a lot of control when you're pushing film - this way you don't lose all of those grey tones. I deliberately avoiding upping the contrast too much in post so I could keep some of the character of the camera.

@@patternsinsand I was editing some shots yesterday for something else and had a look through the scans of my Dad's army days. Lots of photos of Colonial Singapore, the Adelphi Hotel etc. A lot more human in scale. Looks rather different now. The triumph of big business and cheap building materials over a certain 'style'. I'm sure the ordinary Singaporean thought the 'British' buildings were just as out of place.

I’ve got a Bessa i, with the crappiest of the lens/shutter combos, but it fits into a pocket and more likely to go out with me than my C330.
I find the rangefinder pretty close to useless, but I really have to dedicate some rolls of my HP5 to pushing +2
Slowly getting thru your back catalogue and enjoying them all.

Welcome! I've got a 6x9 Bessa too, that's very primitive. Doesn't have a rangefinder. Pushing does give you some leeway in getting a fast enough shutter and having an aperture that's a bit more forgiving of focus.

I was fortunate to pick up a Perkeo e recently. The buy was motivated after I learned how small these medium format cameras were. Amazing, pocketable camera.
I haven’t taken it for a spin yet but might try Scarborough Beach 😉.

Nice one @5:24. There was some nice lighting in that first roll. I bet during the day stopped down it is a very sharp lens.

Thanks Matthew. Once you get to know its quirks it can take some great images.
