  • A new old site, with lots for me to find. I was told about this site by a bottle digger, who asked that I didn't show much of the surrounding scenery. That's a limitation I accepted, and it made making a video there a little challenging.
I hope you enjoy this video, despite its limitations. If you do, then please give it a like, a subscribe, a comment, a share... whatever you feel comfortable with. Suggestions, comments and criticisms are all welcome.

Somebody kindly bought something off my Amazon wishlist, and I missed it out of the round up for this video, so that I can put it in the next one being used. Mini craft video in the next round up... hopefully. If it goes well enough.

Thanks Kari. I never tire of the view either... it's wonderful to be able to take a small break from editing, and see lambs bouncing and bounding around in the field, birds in the trees...occasionally rabbits eating the chives in our garden. Two weeks ago, we had a family of wag tails fledging in our yard, 4 fluffy young calling for food and hopping about on the chairs. 🙂

So sorry, dementia is a heartbreaking condition, I cared for my mum for fourteen years, not dementia but a few medical conditions. I lost her in 2015 and miss her everyday, my partner was helping me care for my dear old stepdad until last year when my partner passed away suddenly then this year my stepdad passed away. I find the mudlarking youtubers a great comfort, it's like having a distant extended family with interesting hobbies.

I do try to hide any major landmark from the camera lens in most places I visit... with a few exceptions; like the hilltop dumpsite where the views are most of the attraction, and the river cut cliff, which very few bottle diggers bother with. 🙂 I have another series of 4 videos I filmed at a site where I revealed too much to the camera; thankfully, that won't matter by the time I get them edited and out, because the site has largely been bulldozed and is going to be built on. I must catch up with the Northern Mudlarks videos sometime, they film in lovely places and they're lovely people; hope I can meet up with them again sometime. 🙂

Complete Codd bottle would be extremely exciting for many a mudlarker/bottle digger. I would be extremely excited to spy a complete example (even if the glass was 'sick') Fabulous and most interesting facets of social history. Many thanks for sharing.

Lovely bottles and beautiful pipes, Tom! This was a nice lark, I didn't find the background noise too distracting. Bottle dumps are hit-and-miss as far as which spot is best to dig...just find a spot and try it!💖

Thanks Cynthia. I don't think I'll be able to dig a hole separately, my back wouldn't like it. So, will probably have to dig sideways from an existing hole if I want to try it (which I kind of do, on a cool dry day). 🙂

I think one of my favourite things is watching bottle digging or bottle hunting.
That dump site looked very interesting your camera caught a lot of items I would have liked to known what they were about.
You found some nice ones without having to dig. Please go back again and show some items that you might not keep but could be interesting to hear about.

Tom, I know another mudlarker found the queen sheba bottle...I think Northern Mudlarks? I believe it had gold ink in it...but there seem to be other products with that name - such as perfume.

Nice to see something from you again! It's always a pleasure to see what little treasures you discover.
Unfortunately, the notification function doesn't seem to work for me, I only found this video because I looked at your channel, I didn't get a notification for the previous one either, strange.
By the way, you helped me a lot with your forays into staying in a good mood when I was practically bedridden for weeks recently; someone recommended your channel to me back then and I really enjoy your videos! And I'm amazed what beautiful old bottles you have in the UK.
I wish you the best of luck and joy on your tours, stay safe!

Well, what a pleasant surprise to see a new video from you. I check often. Caroline Johnson would love to find so many pipes! Glass sickness is so disappointing but you did manage to get a few lovely samples. The green ink bottle was my favourite. Your roundups are always pleasant. The view and changing weather is welcome. I look forward to seeing more from you soon. Bye from Ontario.

Thanks Dorothy... it's nice to know that people check up and see if I've posted. Will be working hard this week to get the next one constructed, hopefully to go up before I go away to Scotland in a few weeks for a bit of a holiday. I took Caroline and Phil to this site a few weeks after I shot this, and Caroline did find a few pipe bowls. 🙂

Hi Tom, nice to see a post of yours up. It’s a very steep place, The ink pot was very nice, I know the feeling of being more selective of finds. I too have many hanging about the house and shed in need of clean up. I do like to find an old structure of a building in the middle of the woods. Nice video Tom, great weather too 🙌

Hi Rob & Collette. Let me know if this is a site you'd like to visit, can't promise it would be as good as it was on this 1st visit; a few mudlarkers know of it now. But, perhaps if you wanted to dig there, you'd find some good things. 🙂

Hi Tom, great to see a new video and from what seems like fabulous new location. I haven’t watched all the video yet because it’s 10.40pm here and it’s been a long day at work. I’ll watch the rest in the morning with a cuppa.
I’m back home in 2 weeks so hopefully will have time for a lark.
All the best, take care - James

Thanks James, it's probably a good place for a little sideways digging (fancy giving that a try?)... not all that good as a mudlarking spot unless there's fresh digging holes. In 2 weeks, I'll be heading up to Scotland for two weeks... if you're still here when I'm back, it would be good to meet up. All the best, Tom.

    • @tomburleigh9261

Thanks Tom, that's something I hadn't thought of. I'm used to finding prism shaped ceramic metal polishing beads; found some in my next video. Hadn't thought about the possibility of spherical ones. This one is a different material from the prism ones, fairly soft in comparison... but I'll do a bit of research and see if it's a likely probability. 🙂

I did take it on my next visit there, but I haven't been able to remove most of the sickness no matter what I've tried. The air conditioning system of the nearby factory bugged me all over that site, I'm glad the camera mic didn't pick it up too much. 🙂
