About OFF GRID with DOUG and STACY:
We moved to our 11 acres in 2011 from a large city in the Midwest with zero carpentry and farming skills. We live with no solar / wind power / public water or well. We share our adventure to a sustainable life, growing our own food from vegetables to meat. We post videos DAILY and they range from HOW TO to EVERYDAY LIFE and NUTRITION on the off grid homestead. We were city folks just like you probably and wanted to enjoy life and have more control over our food. We share food recipes as well as natural remedies. - Развлечения
If you all do not share the video the information dies here! SHARE the video and hope it helps out with your bee adventure. horizontalhive.com =)
homesteadinglifeconference.com to come and learn and fellowship =)
Can you recommend a vendor for horizontal hives?
The website keeps giving me a bad gateway error. :(
Mallorie Gaughran I think the site is just overwhelmed. I got on once. Now I get the same message.
@@patmccrady6063 I was wondering that. That is a great thing!
Thank you for taking the time to do all the videos that y'all do. We've started growing most of our own vegetables and I'm going to build a horizontal hive since I've had 3 back surgery's. Best wishes from Mississippi and God bless.
I am a second generation beekeeper. I am age 81, grew up with bees so I feel a little qualified critique this program. I find it to be an excellent program. Well done and quiet thorough. Just as a note of interest, in hopes of supplementing the information presented, small Hive Beetle infected combs, as they were presented, can be saved. Place them in a deep freeze for 2 days or more, then wash them off with a garden hose, blot off the excess water and place them in a strong hive and the bees will clean them up and render the honey usable. HOWEVER, NEVER EVER place them in another hive if they have not been cycled through the deep freeze process. Outstanding presentation!! Thanks Mr. Doug and Dr. Leo!
Dr. Leo...please start your own RUclips channel!! Thank you Doug for all this Golden knowledge.
hollie nguyen yes he needs to. Full of so much information
I agree, but continue contributing to this channel as well😁
Long live the Bee! I am guilty of being an idiot. In the old days, I hated them like wasps, swatting and no care how many died, as long as they stayed away from me and the pool. Now, I would let them borrow my car if they drove and use the spare room to rest if they asked.
Heck ! They'll leave you honey as rent !
Yeah the common Yellow Jackets give all stinging insects a bad name, they are the ones that buzz your outdoor parties and BBQ's, Bees only go to flowers and such and only fly past you, whereas Wasps will buzz around you cause of your deodorant and Perfumes. Glad to know another has finally discovered the benefit of Bees and just how pleasant they are if left to themselves and admired.
My dad always said, "Let the bee be."
Keep the Dr. Leo videos coming...he is amazing. TY for sharing.
this series of videos are like gold
@@sMASHsound EXACTLY !!!!
Father in law made your box and we just set out traps today. Really excited to keep bees!
I love the way you handle bees, delicately, slowly and truly caring about their well being, very knowledgeable and kind! Love ur videos, learning a lot, great books! Thank you for sharing your knowledge! Ur really amazing, not one bee ever touches u or come close! God bless for all the love, care and kindness u show bees! 😇🤟💖
He truly enjoys working with bees.
Isn't there a problem dumping the Lara on the ground by the hive.
I like Dr Leo's calm demeanor an excellent teacher.
Such an amazing episode. He is the bee master! Nice job on catching your swarm!🤗
@Yo Mama move along troll 👍
This guy is a good teacher. I could listen to him for awhile. I loved how you didn't ask questions and just let him talk.
Have made several swarm boxes with the dimensions you suggested with great success. Caught five swarms from one position. These varied from very small to an extremely large swam. Have relocated and they are all doing extremely well. Your advice has been invaluable.
Nice video. Dr. Leo is an excellent beekeeper doing it the RIGHT way. The fact that second hive was "noisy" when you opened it is a classic sign of being queenless. Hives with no queens are always louder.
What a wonderful teacher and so interesting. Thank you so much for doing this Doug and Stacy. I don’t raise bees but I still find all this so interesting. 🌻🌼🐝🐝
Dr. Leo is a brilliant educator and bee keeper
Dr. Leo has such a wealth of information to share. I appreciate his expertise. Thank you.
He is so impressive, and has already taught us so much. Thanks for the info. God bless!
First thing he taught Doug And everyone here not to be afraid of bees and no need to wear spacesuit when dealing with bees !
Miss mart pants I think I will provide a box for bees this year. That is a really good idea.
Thank you for the incredible information. Look forward to seeing much success.
I like Dr. Leo.... he's a cool dude ! Ty4sharing
Wolf🐺 👍
I have just started to beekeeping a friend gave me 4 empty hives no bees your videos have help me alot still have a lot to learn thanks for your time
This is the best bee keeping person I’ve ever seen! Makes it all so simple and not difficult . No need for all the extra products that are pushed on us .
Very informative. I feel like I attended a live workshop! Thank you Doug and Dr. Leo.
🙏
Tons of excellent info. Every sentence Dr. Leo says is valuable!
GREAT VIDEO. love Dr Leo. Thanks for sharing.
Today is my first day as a beekeeper and tomorrow is my birthday so I'm so excited I'm getting my suit and so on in 3 days I'm truly blessed
Awesome, thank you so so much, very enjoyable video. Love the calming loving energy of your guest. God Bless!
Wow! I never thought of bees as needing help too. This was an amazing video. I think I want to start a beehive. Thanks Doug and Dr. Leo, this was so so informative.
Dr. Leo ia awesome. Thanks for sharing and hosting on your channel, Mrs. Stacy and Mr. Doug.
I wasn't sure if I was ready for the commitment but what an excellent point - just provide them with a place. If I do ever become ready I already have a start!
That's a great suggestion to create a home for bees even if you're not wanting to keep bees. Just like birds like a bird house. Brilliant!
Thanks Doug for having Dr Leo on today. I got to visit with Dr. Leo a couple of years ago at the Florida State Beekeepers Association meeting, AWESOME INFORMATION, THANKS Again.
I always learn something new when I listen to Dr. Leo
that guy is awesome. I think my head is going to pop from all the info i'm getting about bees
I felt like I was absorbing everything..and I don't even keep bees..he is so gentle with them. Great info!💖
wow he made it look so easy
Dr.Leo is fantastic...his books are wonderful...he is the real deal...sharing and teaching. Thanks for bringing us along to learn with you!!
I just bought a Horizontal Hive. I can’t wait to get it painted and set up. Great information!
I have a daughter interested in bee keeping. Love this info and just the idea that you can put up a bee box to help save bees, everyone should do this!
I could listen to Dr. Leo talk about bees all day. I really love the bee videos! 🐝
if im not mistaken, he was a chicago cop. he gets his attitude from there from time to time 🤣😂.. i like this dude and his wife he is super knowledgeable. much respect, thanks for everything!! subscribed and watch all your vids!!
It is amazing how most honeybees are so gentle and don't seem to bothered by people in their home. I use to catch honeybees in my hands off flowers as a child and would impress the girls by opening my hand and exposing a bee. Never got stung doing that. The bees seemed fine taking a small brake on my palm.
That was terrific! So glad you were successful with swarm catching! 😊
My hortizonal hives are almost completed. I'm getting excited about helping the hubby moving them over.
Thank you for sharing this guy with us! He's a wonderful bee whisperer and I so respect his gentle approach to transferring the swarm. I've seen so many people shake and whack the frames to dump them into the hive which is so stressful for the bees and consequently for the beekeeper!
Another awesome video Doug! Dr. Leo is just amazing. I hope I can catch one of his conferences some day.
All I can say is thank you, I watched another video with Dr. Sharashkin and I learned a bunch. I had bees two years ago and lost them through swarming and not knowing enough. I am looking forward to bee keeping again this spring, time to make some traps and start out with free bees.
Another brilliant, informative and fascinating video with the hugely knowledgeable and experienced Dr Leo! Thanks Doug!
Hi Doug and Stacy! Dr. LEO, when you were looking at the bees during transfer the love in your eyes couldn't be hidden. Well done. Thank you for taking the time.
Love Dr. Leo!! Can’t wait to meet him at your conference!! Bought the books he recommended. Great resources!! Thanks!!
Thank you so much for featuring Dr. Leo. His calm manner is so reassuring that it's almost got me convinced I could keep bees, myself. :)
This is the most beautiful sacred thing I have seen in a long time! Dr. Leo is a Blessed Soul and I thank You Loves, for introducing him to us all.
An Absolute First-Class video! Thanks fellas.
Doug I absolutely loved the video a lot there to learn I have watched this video 3 times I have been beekeeping for 1 1/2 years now and you guys have me wanting a horizontal hive now and I think I need to be putting out some swarm traps. Love your channel looking forward to more bee videos. Thanks Ron in WV
God bless all of you and all of your loved ones. This is a big inspiration to my own life. Love you guys 100000000000000000000000000000000000
You make beekeeping a whole less daunting. Looking forward to the conference to learn even more. Thanks for sharing this plethora of information.
I really enjoy learning Beekeeping. One of my 3 precious sons is going to Beekeep with me... soon I hope.
I shared this video with someone who raise bees. I enjoy listening to Dr. Leo. Thank you for sharing with us.
I have only just found Dr Leo, I love his peaceful manner. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
I don't keep bees but sure love the bee videos. Good tip on keeping a habitat for them even if you don't want to collect honey. I just really enjoyed this and it does my heart good to see there are those that are keeping our pollinators alive and well. Thanks
So perfect and the information is so easy to understand and be able to do at your own home! Great idea about just putting up swarm traps to host bees due to the lack of large trees for habitate.
Excellent Doug and Stacey! Thanks for all the love! Such wonderful information. I am learning so much...
Thank you for having Dr. Leo back! I have learned so much. It was a pleasure meeting him in Asheville!!
This is so heartwarming. Such a natural process. Beautiful video.
What an AWESOME follow up to Dr. Leo's first video on your channel!!! Kudos & Thank you for this knowledge...:-)
This video is so chuck full of nuggets!! Dr Leo is great to learn from. Thank you Doug & Stacy for sharing all of your leaning experience. There are so many things to learn when you open up your own box and venture out. 💕🤗🐝🐔🐶🌻🥬🥦
I love learning about bees with Dr. Leo. 💖 😀 Fascinating. Giving Thanks for Stacy & Doug. I'm harvesting our garlic right now in Northern CA. Lots. 😊
Ran across some videos with Dr Leo and was impressed with hands-off natural approach. Bought one of the books from his site (Keeping Bees with a Smile) and love the natural approach. Built a couple swarm traps and have them out now and finishing up building two layens hives. My Dad has a Langstroth hive that we are planning to switch to a horizontal hive.at some point. Since we are in southeast Texas we are not as concerned about the cold, just keep the bees from getting too hot! Thank you for having Dr Leo on you vijeo! :)
I love growing flowers the bees love, beeeecause, they are so amazing to watch in the yard. I love having them around.
Fantastic. Getting away from these large corporate hives spreading disease to a natural village approach. 👍
Excellent once again.. I've been wanting to do this for about 15 years.. this horizontal idea is great.. Gives me the idea of trying to catch a swarm next spring.
To see the complete way of catching a swarm and rehoming it is so vitally educational. Thank you for this series. It has been very informative and it has made me be more comfortable around bees. To see you both working with the bees and not get stung was totally amazing!
Oh he might of got stung... hid it well. We bought our bees and hubby got stung once. You do get use to it over time.
@OFF Grid with DOUG & STACY Oh WOW! Thank you for sharing @Patrick McCrady with us. Watching these videos is so empowering. So do-able!
Thank you Doug and Stacy for this video and please thank Dr Leo next time he is by. I am inspired to start a horizontal hive here in Ontario.
Looking forward to seeing Dr Leo in August at the Homesteading Life Conference in Hannibal MO.
Amazing! Watching this guy work with the bees is mesmerizing.
I didn't know you could just put a box out for them to house in. That's a fantastic tip! Wow!
I am sharing this with my FB. My niece just started to keep bees last year. I didn't have this info but I am going to share it now. I think one of the best things on this for those of us who are not keeping bees, was the last thing the Dr. said about setting up a home for the bees. That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for all the great info in this video and your others.
Saving the earth one hive at a time.
Excellent video!!!!
Extremely well informed Bee Master i agree this man should have his own youtube channel, very interesting episode , Nature is Heaven!
This was a very informative video, Doug in Dr Leo's explanation how to catch the Swarm and make the transfer of the bees to the horizontal beehive was an excellent and interesting teaching I thank you both.
EDUARDO MIAMI FL 🇺🇸
outstanding video! fascinating.
Thank you, I found this most enlightening, with useful information for our bees. I wish everyone good luck with helping our bees, help the bees and it will help us.
#Im happy I caught this video early.
#DOUGSTACY
YOU GUYS TEACH SO MUCH. ITS AWESOME YOU GAVE A EXPERT SHOWING HOW ITS DONE👍👌👌👌‼️
Oh👋
GoodMorning
😊🌸😊
I love Dr. Leo's videos but I enjoy watching him more when he's on with Doug. I guess Doug asking questions keeps me so interested. Plus, seeing Doug's new-ish setup getting tips is helpful to me.
Dr. Leo, you certainly know what you're talking about. Fascinating!
Thank you for this special Video. Wonderful experience.
I can’t wait to get my horizontal hive. I knew a few years ago in my gut this horizontal hive was the best method ( in my opinion). Thank you for this video!
Loved this video! Not ready to be a bee keeper but will get swarm boxes for our property. Happy to know we can help the bees!
Incredible information. Dr leo is so informative and calm, I really enjoy watching him work as he explains every step he is going through,
Sweet vids on the bees Doug. Thanks to the Doc for all the great info. My swarm traps are set, Here we go horizontal. Cheers!!
Nice!!
Ruach Ranch off grid NE AZ thanks for all the great information shared here. Our goal is to begin beekeeping next year. This is an excellent resource.
I LOVE every video you share with Dr. Leo! So fascinating and chock full of information!
What a wonderful video. I was totally fixated on all the wonderful knowledge from Dr .Leo. Thank you so much for bringing this information to us.
Awesome video!! Would love to see how you go about getting a queen going in that one hive.
Probably put a tray of the bee larva from the hive that is producing and the bees will make a queen from those donated larva.
Wow! Dr. Leo, the 🐝 whisperer. No clothing, or smoke. I'm really impressed!
Great share! Love it! Very informative. Congrats on your new bees. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for sharing! Started my beekeeping journey this year and went a more commercial route. Wanting to keep my bees completely natural It seems so much smarter to catch a swarm. I had most of a hive die from Georgia bc day after they arrived we had a 28 degree night! I really like the idea of having bees acclimated to this insane Missouri weather!
Thank you so much for all this great info I’ve been bee keeping for about 8 years and my swarm catch’s are always my strongest hives. And as always .... there’s always more to learn . Thank you! 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
Loved it....I watched it all with a SMILE....Blessed 🐝
Dr. Leo is such a smart guy. I can't keep bees because my husband is allergic to them 😔 but I love learning about bee keeping.
Blessings for you and family and the doctor to share with us a golden information and knowledge... THANK YOU!
