Awesome footage and helpful hints mate. 👍💪
GREAT VIDEO JOHN!!! Your making me want to buy a kayak with those insane flathead. Cheers mate
I love chasing the bigger fish from a stealthy yak for sure
I told the misses I would be back by 11, that was 2 years ago :)
Hahahaaa. Great stuff
How awesome are they when you get one absolutely smash your lure and shake that head, so much power awesome fun, what a great video mate 👍 🎣
John, I am hearing from a guy that Mangrove Jacks don’t take the lure for food, but because they are very territorial. What is your thoughts on it? I am taking my boy fishing this weekend and try our very first Jack. We studied your videos intently. Thanks for your enthusiasm, it has us all fired up.
Got one yet mate?
Great video.
Both informative and entertaining!
Cheers Bruce. Always good to hear you get something from em mate
@@mylurebox Great videos, but everytime you put up a video, I end up spending money! lol
"Cheeky chicken" fricken hilarious 2:46
Love the kayak. Looks like a great set up. Can I make a request and get you to show us your kayak set up in detail in a future video. Noticed the electric motor and wondered how you've got it all set up. (battery, mounting, positions etc. Good luck & keep the vids rolling. :-).
check earlier videos, back a few years ago he goes into detail!
Awesome video !!!
Cheers mate. A stunning morning out there
Awesome footage man! How good was that hookup haha. Love it!
Cracking fish mate!
We were stoked mate. His Topwater PB now he’s Hooked ;)
Flathead are real fun to catch especially cause they take big lures
I caught one on a big 6 inch minnow while chasing mangrove jack
Was so stoked it was 75cm
That’s awesome eh. Such an impressive fish at that size.
Nice to see John catching a really nice Flathead. An exhilarating experience for him. I have yet to blood my Crossfire 110cm - white with a redhead. But it will happen. The odds are stacked in my favour. My Fishing God has been rather mean, of late. Small fish in number & quality. I may have to get down on my knees & do some serious bowing. When no-one is around to watch me.
Hahahaa. What ever it takes mate ;) worth a try. This is coming into the right months to get it done
Awesome mate! Do you have a video outlining your kayak set up? In the midst of doing mine and need some tips and tricks!
Cheers Brodie. I’ll put something together over the next couple weeks mate. I have some vids on the mods I’ve done for the motor but nothing like a full run through yet.
mylurebox sweet mate, will have a look at the video of the motor mod, cheers
Love your work mate. Can I ask where your purchased your yak from?
Was it on the coast.
great video can I ask what size Rod and reel and braid snd leader you used please
7ft medium action 3-6kg rod 2500 reel and 10lb braid 20lb leader
hi what size are the assist hooks you use on the crossfire bent minnow??
Hi John
What size assist hooks do I need to buy for my 195 crossfire , cheers
FAAAAARRRRKKKK ....My next next lure purchase....
Another great vid! I recently purchased a handful of 110 and 195 Crossfires and looking to find the perfect rod to match them up with. I've already got a 7ft 2-4kg rod, but looking for something to handle the heavier 195 lure and also get a bit of extra casting distance over the flats. Got my eye on a nice Veritas 8'6" 3-6kg rod- would that be the go, or you'd recommend something else?
Cheers Ryan, I haven’t used the Veritas yet myself. But if you’ve found a rod with a fairly rigid/ medium action, that’s my preference for getting the. Action going well on the lure. I use the dobyns 702sf and it’s a good one for it. Feels light at times but it gets the action going well IMO
mylurebox ended up getting something very similar to your suggestion in the Veritas 702M. It’s 4-8kg and can cast 10-48g lures. Plus it should be a better length for fishing mainly from the kayak.
Now I just need a weekend where it’s not blowing a 20kt NE to get out on the water!
What is the back ground at the 13:46 mark when John releases his fish
Would you say that top water mullet would always mean predators below? Do you always cast at mullet?
It’s a great guide across the flats ;) yep. I throw at and around em
Hey mate, awesome video!! I’m looking at taking my father out for a fish this weekend chasing some flatty anywhere between Brisbane north side and the golf coast land based! Have any suggestion on places we could try? cheers mate!!
Gold coast*
Hi Dylan, take a look at Hollywell and Runaway Bay. There’s plenty of land based access to sand flats and some weed edges along there ;) some good fishing with plastics through those sections. ;)
mylurebox cheers for that! Thanks heaps :)
@@dylancollins8805 up Coombabah creek is a nice spot
Can I ask what size assist hooks are u using
I like the cultivas and decoys.
Haha big hundy
R u Timmy Turtles Dad?
3 meter ? Catch and fuck ? Get the dogs !
Still working on the 3metery
Leave the big breeders alone.. Put your time into conservation of fish species.
I think I'd worry about the people keeping those breeders. Plenty do unfortunately. At least all of these were let go.
