If I remember correctly, Alfred was in an early stage of the disease while Fries' wife was in an advanced stage where that cure couldn't help. Still odd that he just carried it everywhere with him.
I remember seeing this as a kid and being so excited. Batman was my favorite super hero (and still is). And even then, as a child who loved Batman, hated the movie. I looked up at my dad and he looked at me and we both were thinking the same thing..."what the fuck was that shit?"
@nicholascooney in the comics, she's commissioner gordon's daughter. they thought that she was too young to be his daughter in the movie, when you think of the actor playing him. so they made her alfred's neice.
@TheRhuen The part that blew my mind was when Mr Freeze.... was conducting. I had to rewind it to make sure I wasn't seeing things. I have never wished for hallucinations so much. My brother bailed out at the 20 minute mark. I only managed to watch the whole thing by taking breaks. I still get counselling.
I personally don't own the film's DVD, but I've heard that Joel Schumacher did a commentary for it...in which he apologizes for the movie's existence throughout the entire thing!
He didn't forget anything. The Nostalgia Critic is from thatguywiththeglasses:com, this guy is just a fan who uploads videos on RUclips for those of us with slow connections.
Here is my personal analysis of the characters of this film. -George Clooney as Batman:Blow Me! What a horrible choice to make producers! -Robin:A Whiny Little Bitch. -Mr.Freeze:Hes hilariously bad. Love Arnold's performance. It was hilarious. -Poison Ivy:Forgettable. -Barbara/Batgirl:Another forgettable performance. Also,Why Did They Have to Make Her Alfred's niece. Barbara GORDON as Alfred's Niece! -Alfred:Speaking of Alfred..I think His performance Was The Best Performance in The Film.
Right about that. They were making a new sequel, Batman: Triumphant. Then the project changed to Batman: Year One (aka Batman Beyond). After that project is cancelled, they didn't make another Batman movie until years later, they start over with a new franchise and name the first movie, Batman Begins and after that, The Dark Knight. I can't wait for another Batman movie. I love all movies including this one. The reason, a campy and funny version from the 60's series. Funny movie..
There is one moment in the movie that is at the very most slightly entertaining, ivy is plucking a flower at atonal saying he loves me, he loves me not over and over, then suddenly Arnold in his suit steps in and say NOT and basically tells her welcome to hell, if only that'd happen to schumaker
As if that weren't bad enough, they had ANOTHER Batman film planned after this one, also starring George Clooney and ALSO directed by Joel Schumacher. Batman: Triumphant.
"Alfred is sick? I mean, do we really have to concern ourselves with the butler in this movie? I mean, come on, how sick could he possibly be?" "He's dying." *smiling* "Awkward."
Don't know if it has been mentioned but freeze's cure can't cure his wife because she has the sickness in a worse stage. Alfred just has it in the first stage and that is why he can't.
I remember noticing the Riddler suit, but i always tough it was really weird that the two face suit was there too, since at the end of Batman Forever (BIG SPOILERS!), Tommy Lee Jones´ character dies. In fact, the Riddler is the only Batman enemy in all the Burton-Schumacher serie of movies that is put in Arkham.
2:12 lol, reminds me of the Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode "Hobgoblins" when Mike and the bots try to get out of watching the movie by using cardboard cutouts and recorded voices :D
@MistressEsmeralda Yeah Post Crisis she is his neice and he and his then wife (also named Barbara) adopted her from his brother and his wife. Meanwhile Gordon and his wife had a son but they split up and she leaves town with him. I hear he came back as a troubled bad guy or something. :)
@Bauglir100 The Two-Face suit was tacky because it looked bad plastic surgery. However it is a different story in the Dark Knight. Through a combination of prosetics, special effects make up, and cgi it produced a greater effect. It was thanks to those three things that they were able to make Two-Face look close to a burn victim instead of a dude with putty on his face.
@MarshalJimRaynor She contracted it earlier, he didn't get it until later in his life. It's apparently like cancer: it has separate stages and you can get it at any time. I hate the movie too but there are some plot holes they opted to fill in, however few they may be.
@corvettecrazy262 I said that in Heath Ledger´s perfomance we don´t know his past and that´s way he is so interesting, can´t you read? The original Batman was more about the joker, and that made him less intimidating.
I would much rather have modified Robin's dialoge when he's arguing with Batman about whether he could have caught Mr. Freeze so it sounded like: R: I could have made that jump! B:No you couldn't have. You're not strong enough. R: I thought this was a partnership. B: It is, but there are certain rules for you to follow. R: I WAS FROZEN TODAY!! B: ...
OK. This is the best NC review. BUT, Alfred is one of the most beloved characters in Batman ever, so yes,yes we do have to concern ourselves with the butler.
And that Mr. Freeze's wife didn't actually die, and was moved to Arkham for Freeze to finish his research. Oh, and Poison Ivy wasn't eaten by that plant-She was actually trapped in it, and later, we see her in Arkham (But is almost insane), and it emerges that Freeze is her cell-mate... "I'm going to make your life a living hell-prepare for a bitter harvest, winter has come" ^_^
1:01 THAT WASN'T A MOMENT FOR THAT!! If anyone read the comics, you'd know that Alfred took care of Bruce since he was little, so...it makes sense that Bruce would care a lot about him; in the sort of father-son love thing (The same with Bruce and the Robins)
i did see this as a kid, and I wasn't able to see all the things you said were bad then. But now that I'm an adult, everything you've said has made perfect sense. It is very bad, so very....very bad, thanks for reviewing and letting future generations know not to watch or rent this.
i just listened to it again he says "having a change of heart he gives batman the "cure" that he was keeping in his suit all along, and he didn't give it to his wife because?" then he moves on to what to do about barbara. the movie batman basically tells freeze he knows he's a doctor and likes helping people and that he can cure the early stages of the disease, and he asks for his help. freeze gives him the 2 vials says take 2 of these and call me in the morning. lol
I wonder how low the dvd sales for this film were? it's ironic that the only time I saw this film. Was when it was in theaters after that I haven't bothered to ever see it again. Thank god for Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale doing the Batman franchise correctly.
"How sick could he possibly be?"
"He's dying."
"Awkward."
If I remember correctly, Alfred was in an early stage of the disease while Fries' wife was in an advanced stage where that cure couldn't help.
Still odd that he just carried it everywhere with him.
"You could pretty much replace his dialogue with: Oergherebeebaahahdebabeh - oohbedgadjabebejibejibeh!"
I remember seeing this as a kid and being so excited. Batman was my favorite super hero (and still is). And even then, as a child who loved Batman, hated the movie. I looked up at my dad and he looked at me and we both were thinking the same thing..."what the fuck was that shit?"
I never noticed the Ridler suit.
" I wish I was in that jar" LOL
"Say curses! say it! go on! I dare you!"
What I wanna know is how did Alfred not only know that Barbara would find the Batcave - how did he know her measurements?
NC:How sick could he possible be?
George: He's dying.
NC: Awkward. lol
"Due to reasons of dying"
In it's simplicity, that's incredibly genius :P
not only was the riddler suit in the background but so was twoface's, i recognize the red and black zebra stripes.
love that song at the end
Robin's line "Rubber lips are immune to your charm" should have been "A friend of mine told me to wear protection."
I used to watch this movie all the time as a kid. Looking back now, I'm amazed that I was able to sit through it
2:26- Doug talking in his normal voice
that green screen effect at the end was better then this movies atempt at it
Wow this video was just uploaded, awesome.
Great video, Nostalgia Critic! I loved the song at the end. XD
@nicholascooney in the comics, she's commissioner gordon's daughter. they thought that she was too young to be his daughter in the movie, when you think of the actor playing him. so they made her alfred's neice.
-How sick could he possibly be!?
-He's dying.
-Awkward...
XD
@tricksterhuaun I meant, when I was a kid, the 1960s Batman was on re-run on television.
2:33-2:38
LOL at the Tom & Jerry sounds!!
@SalRotman oh yeah he directed that too. i only saw the ending, but it was pretty good
@lastswordfighter I know. But did they have that during the time Batman and Robin was made?
@xxh4ny0uxx Plus, there's the paperwork/ personal information he'd have to fill out for that card. Wonder what he'd put down for name, address, etc..
I still get counselling.
aboothaba BARBARA??? that mask just covered your face so well! LMAO!!
@stealthsniper29 Speaking of which, isn't the Barbera in this movie the Oracle in Arkham City?
@peterla5 Apologies, i didn't really catch that part cause of the loud noise - 2:35
That noise he makes at 2:00 is so funny
did anyone noticed that NC's first reviews are resumed?
"How sick could he POSSIBLY BE?" "He's dying." "Awkward.."
0:05, that's what I hear when I watch a video from The Mysterious Mr Enter.
Here is my personal analysis of the characters of this film.
-George Clooney as Batman:Blow Me! What a horrible choice to make producers!
-Robin:A Whiny Little Bitch.
-Mr.Freeze:Hes hilariously bad. Love Arnold's performance. It was hilarious.
-Poison Ivy:Forgettable.
-Barbara/Batgirl:Another forgettable performance. Also,Why Did They Have to Make Her
Alfred's niece. Barbara GORDON as Alfred's Niece!
-Alfred:Speaking of Alfred..I think His performance Was The Best Performance in The Film.

What does Poison Ivy mean by "curses!" in this case?
LOL at 3:06 his goofy face
priceless lmao
it's beyond funny xD
Scott Levy in Batman & Robin as Robin: What about me? What about Robin?
1:10 Did you fail to notice the Two-Face suit on the right?
There is one moment in the movie that is at the very most slightly entertaining, ivy is plucking a flower at atonal saying he loves me, he loves me not over and over, then suddenly Arnold in his suit steps in and say NOT and basically tells her welcome to hell, if only that'd happen to schumaker
My favourite bit was the Tom & Jerry sound effects when he tried to escape.
best part @ 1:59
THE NOISE HE MAKES IS FUCKING HILARIOUS XD
As if that weren't bad enough, they had ANOTHER Batman film planned after this one, also starring George Clooney and ALSO directed by Joel Schumacher. Batman: Triumphant.
With all the cursing, did they seriously mute-out "circumcise" at 6:38 or was that a video glitch?
"Alfred is sick? I mean, do we really have to concern ourselves with the butler in this movie? I mean, come on, how sick could he possibly be?"
"He's dying."
*smiling* "Awkward."
Don't know if it has been mentioned but freeze's cure can't cure his wife because she has the sickness in a worse stage. Alfred just has it in the first stage and that is why he can't.
when critic is singing, what's the backround characters from (which movie)?
@sovietamerican2 I agree. How come Nolan did not have any neon lights, bad one liners, or any Bat nipples? What is a Batman movie without any of that?
4:02 LOL
That "SuperCrapaFuckarificExpealaBullshit Song" will never get out of my head :)
"leave of absence due to reasons of dying"
---
I tried using that excuse once but they told me I'd be fired if I didn't come back.
"Supercrapafuckarrificexpialabullshit" LMAO, another word to add to the dictionary. I like it!
2:12
lol, reminds me of the Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode "Hobgoblins" when Mike and the bots try to get out of watching the movie by using cardboard cutouts and recorded voices :D
I like how he took the piss out of himself with the recording. But I thought he was going to play some 'happy time' music XD
Hehe, my friend brought the VHS of this to my house on my birthday and left it conveniently on the top of our wood stove, melting it.
3:55-4:11 and 3:03-3:06 funniest parts
The music at 1:01, where is it from?
The whiny voice at the beginning made me crack up.Made me spit out my Kool Aid.
@TazmaDevil some disney films have shown death; Snow White, Lion King, Pocahontas, Bambi, to name a few.
"And you've gotta lover her expression when she finds out....'Duh-hill-hill-hill...."
Whats that song at the end? Damn catchy... XD
@MarshalJimRaynor She contracted it earlier, he didn't get it until later in his life.
It's apparently like cancer: it has separate stages and you can get it at any time.
I hate the movie too but there are some plot holes they opted to fill in, however few they may be.
the song at the end is my my new ringtone
Excellent review. The only thing missing was a few minutes of ranting about the insult that was done to the character of Bane.
Michael Gough and Pat Hingle probably only stayed in this series because they were the legends. R.I.P.
4:03-4:06 Woody Woodpecker laugh!
I don't understand what that "joke" is saying at 1:01 ...
What does it say?
@corvettecrazy262 I said that in Heath Ledger´s perfomance we don´t know his past and that´s way he is so interesting, can´t you read?
The original Batman was more about the joker, and that made him less intimidating.
one of his best reviews to date.
For what it's worth I thought that freeze's suit and make up effects were awesome, doesn't excuse horrible dialogue/puns.
I was eating cereal when i started watching this. at 0:04 i almost spat out my milk that was so funny!!!
HOW SICK COULD HE POSSIBLY BE!?!
"He's dying."
Akward.
LOL XD
I would much rather have modified Robin's dialoge when he's arguing with Batman about whether he could have caught Mr. Freeze so it sounded like:
R: I could have made that jump!
B:No you couldn't have. You're not strong enough.
R: I thought this was a partnership.
B: It is, but there are certain rules for you to follow.
R: I WAS FROZEN TODAY!!
B: ...
STILL my favorite of all the NC reviews.
Whats that running joke gay song or something that played around 55 seconds in? I've noticed it on a lot of NC vids but have never understood it..
OK. This is the best NC review. BUT, Alfred is one of the most beloved characters in Batman ever, so yes,yes we do have to concern ourselves with the butler.
And that Mr. Freeze's wife didn't actually die, and was moved to Arkham for Freeze to finish his research.

"I'm going to make your life a living hell-prepare for a bitter harvest, winter has come" ^_^
you know his description of this movie in the end fits my opinion of willingham morrison's run on batman
1:01 THAT WASN'T A MOMENT FOR THAT!!
If anyone read the comics, you'd know that Alfred took care of Bruce since he was little, so...it makes sense that Bruce would care a lot about him; in the sort of father-son love thing (The same with Bruce and the Robins)
what are the lyrics to his sog at the end?
nice touch with the tom sound kudos to you
You could replace his dialouge with "nya ahn nya nya nehh!"
XD
i did see this as a kid, and I wasn't able to see all the things you said were bad then. But now that I'm an adult, everything you've said has made perfect sense. It is very bad, so very....very bad, thanks for reviewing and letting future generations know not to watch or rent this.
@brothaNblue Who didn't?
There are actually several different people who became Batgirl. But yeah, none of them was Alfred's niece.
There was also a twoface suit on the other side.
Oh, Ivy, Ivy, Ivy...my poor Ivy. My favorite non-Joker Batman villian. What have they done to you?
Hahaha! Towards the end I was thinking, what? No "Talk about your cold shoulder"? And then I saw it. Phew!
Nice musical number at the end!
Kilmer and Schumacher couldn't work together during batman forever. To quote schumacher "He sort of quit and we sort of fired him".
0:04- You can also do that with InuYasha.
I never really got why the Ridler suit is clever... Can anyone fill me in?
you can pretty much replace his dialogs with: ieebaibeiibeebiebeib
XD EPIC!
i just listened to it again he says "having a change of heart he gives batman the "cure" that he was keeping in his suit all along, and he didn't give it to his wife because?" then he moves on to what to do about barbara. the movie batman basically tells freeze he knows he's a doctor and likes helping people and that he can cure the early stages of the disease, and he asks for his help. freeze gives him the 2 vials says take 2 of these and call me in the morning. lol
2:16 a nostalgia critic doll? they gave him a nostalgia critic doll? the gave the funniest critic on earth a nostalgia critic doll?!
I wonder how low the dvd sales for this film were? it's ironic that the only time I saw this film. Was when it was in theaters after that I haven't bothered to ever see it again. Thank god for Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale doing the Batman franchise correctly.
I was like WHOAH! NOSTALGIA CRITIC HAS A TWIN at 2:19
