Obvious watching this video why Nathan is not rushing into this relationship with Elizabeth. He was so badly hurt the first time and so was Allie. Little by little bit by bit he is learning to trust again. Wonderful job showing that. 🤗🤗❤
From my perspective, I think Nathan never quite gave up on Elizabeth even though she rejected him in S8 after he declared he loved her. He saw her move on dating Lucas, but I feel Nathan knew she rejected him out of fear. He knew in his heart Elizabeth loved him. So I feel Nathan changed tactics in his approach to Elizabeth. I feel he was stronger than it may have appeared to us viewers at the time. He decided he needed to be her "friend" in order to show her the man he is. This gentle loving friendship only brought them closer. Nathan may have given up once Elizabeth became engaged to Lucas. He tried to move on with other women. But that never worked out because Nathan still loved Elizabeth. Elizabeth shared with Nathan about how special Hope Valley is to her and how she wants to raise Jack Jr. in HV. When Nathan saw Elizabeth having doubts about Lucas and moving to Capital City. He decided he needed to call her out on it. Then we got the scene at the church/school house, Elizabeth what do you want? Elizabeth broke up with Lucas.....Now Nathan and Elizabeth are moving forward with a relationship. Nathan may be moving slow because he's worried about getting hurt again, but maybe not. He might be stronger than we all think moving slow with a gentle love comes softly approach for Elizabeth's sake to let her truly figure out her heart and that she loves Nathan. He might not want to move fast because the last time Nathan moved fast Elizabeth ran away after he had declared his love for her. However, this romantic relationship between Nathan and Elizabeth is finally happening.
I feel the writers always intended to take us here, but they fell off the cliff two seasons ago. This is the great love Elizabeth and Nathan BOTH deserve. So glad they’ve found their way back to one another, where they belong.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the writers said when they put L and E together that they did it because they felt it would make more of a story line. Many times since this twist back to N I've thought that S12 would be the last of the show. However BB said he thought the show had potential for many more seasons. Trying to look at the whole picture, I think the show has several other characters developing that it does make the overall show more attractive and with the hopes of more seasons.
I agree that I think endgame was always E and N. They did get more storylines by her “choosing” Lucas (but it was with her head, not her heart) because it gave the viewers a chance to see Nathan try to move on while E tried to move on with L but eventually recognize she was acting out of fear (she held N’s red serge against him because she was fearful of loving someone who may be harmed. Remember, she told N that it would just hurt too much to lose him like she did Jack)which she had to overcome. As she and N formed a friendship, I think E began to lose some of that fear but at the same time she found herself recognizing where her heart was. At the same time she and L had different paths in life. But yeah, there was a reason they brought in a young handsome Mountie who bonded immediately with the school teacher. I think they both did a lot of growing in season 9 and 10. Now, they get to tell L’s “great love” story. I think it is going to be fantastic!
Yes, I do think they intended to get Nathan and Elizabeth together and married in the end. They have more storyline available as a blended family. Allie's growing up so they can have alot of story possibilities there. They said Jack Jr. will be going to school next year. So, he will be in the classroom with Elizabeth. Plus there are all the other characters in hope valley stories they can develop. Of course the mountie action never gets Old! Plus you can still see romance between Nathan and Elizabeth as a married couple.
This one really hits me on a deeper level. The music perfectly underscores the journeys that they have both had to navigate in order to get to the point of a lifetime commitment. Through it all though, you can see how they've been each other's rocks - the one they turn to for support and honest advice, always knowing they can trust each other above all others. I love seeing how all of these times when they've been there for each other, are crafting the foundation for a great love and lifetime together. Thanks for this gift!
Like Nathan, no matter how unlikely this pairing seemed, I could never quite give up on it. I'm really happy with the way things are headed and look forward to each episode.
I always thought that Nathan and Elizabeth were the end game, but the writers threw us a curveball for whatever reason. Seasons 8 and 9 were hard to watch as a loyal Nathan/Elizabeth supporter, but Seadons 10 and definitely 11, have made it worthwhile. I now appreciate those sweet, loving moments between Elizabeth and Nathan even more.
The curve ball with Lucas was about having more storylines. I know season 8 was hard to watch! Season 9 was hard at times too, but we saw Nathan being a little more sarcastic at times which I enjoyed watching. Quite a bit of the sarcastic comments were directed at Elizabeth, but I feel Nathan said some of what he said out of hurt that Elizabeth was engaged and choosing Lucas. Nathan tried to move on with other women, but that never worked out because he still loved Elizabeth. Elizabeth had to to listen to her heart and overcome her fear. When she finally did she broke up with Lucas. She had to realize her deep connection and love for Nathan. I think she is finally ready to move forward with him. They will marry and we will see a blended family.
Agree with your comments. It did make for more storylines that created strong emotions. I'm happy that Elizabeth and Nathan will be together and create new storylines as a family.
