    I LOVE how you stitch and save the HSTs when stitching the binding strips together as I, also, do not like to waste those small triangles. You can use them for so many things, including piecing together backing fabrics. I do, however, prefer to press the binding strip seams open so the bulk is the same in all places. You gave some really good tips and are so thorough, even giving multiple ways to do things, as you say, our minds don't always process/work the same way! Thank you for sharing. I have shared with my quilt making friends!

    Idk how you get your binding so perfect. I have a hard time with those corners on machine binding, I can't ever get them on the back. Thanks for video

    • @InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise
      @InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise  2 месяца назад

      You can do it, Jeanette! It takes lots of practice but it'll come. Trying basting your corners in place before you sew by machine. That may help you out initially. Thanks for watching! Happy Quilting,
      Lea Louise

    June 19, 2024. Lea Louise, Thank you for this wonderful tutorial. I will sew binding on a couple quilts each month for the quilt guild charity quilts. I am so embarrassed at times. "Oh, that looks good! Oh wait! What happened? Nooooo!" Do you ever trim the corners before sewing to the other side? I have a quilt for this month to do. I will put your fantastic lessons to work. It's the folding the binding over to the other side and sewing it down that I have problems with. Practice and more practice! Thank you again. Marion in Oregon

    • @InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise
      @InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise  Месяц назад

      You're absolutely correct, Marion! Practice is what will make the difference. It took me many quilts to where I could fold and sew them. For years I hand sewed the binding and finally decided it was time to learn an quicker way. So glad I did! You'll get there, and yes sometimes those corners need a bit of a trim. Though that doesn't happen as much any more. Thanks so much for watching! Happy Quilting,
      Lea Louise

    Dear Lea Louise, I had to watch this tutorial again tonight. I sewed binding on from back to front. In your video you showed us the same method with the pretty pink binding. But the black and white was done front to back. And the final sewing on that quilt was also from the front. Do you have a video that demonstrates the final sewing of the back to front method? This where I run into problems in making it look nice on both sides. Thank you. Most appreciative, Marion in Oregon.

    Like all of your work.
    Just wonder… if you don’t mind.., what do you do with all your quilts, besides family and friends ?
    Are you selling them ? If yes, let us know 😊

      Thanks, Gigi! A lot of my quilts are small baby or lap size which I donate to our church's food and clothing pantry. I love seeing a new mom receive a quilt for her baby! Thanks for watching! Happy Quilting,

    Between using the ruler or the binding width, I find using the binding is always better. Why ? Because sometimes we might work with a different width, a little bit bigger or a little bit smaller and we might forget that. When I use the binding to determine the cutting distance, I don’t have to remember the exact measurement.

    What is that stitch you sew down your binding with

    • @InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise
      @InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise  2 месяца назад +1

      The stitch used to sew down my binding is called a blanket or button hole stitch. It's also commonly used in machine applique. The side stitches work very well holding the binding in place if you happen to miss the edge by a bit. You'll generally find it on most machines with multiple stitches. Thanks for watching! Happy Quilting,
      Lea Louise
