Thanks Terry. This was so helpful. The basting around the design itself and not the hoop was making me nuts. I figured out a work around but you’ve shown me the “right” way and I greatly appreciate it. So i figured out how to store the different hoop sizes “bastings” in memory so that you can tell them apart. Create the basting…then add in a different color big numbers to the design such as 9.5 x 9.5. When you save to memory the numbers should appear in the “picture” so that you can tell them apart…of course, you wouldn’t actually stitch out the numbers…just skip color two with the numbers. Hope that makes sense. I would love it if you were inclined to do a video on it. It would help others just like all of your videos do! I am a brand new Luminaire owner and you are so much help to me. I thank you very much for your help.
Thank you for explaining how to add a basting stitch with design center. When i tried to add my embroidery design i got the message, ‘ This pattern cannot be combined’ what is the procedure to add the design into the basting area? The basting area is larger than the design. Thank you for your help and feedback!
Hi Cindy. I know you directed your question to Terry. I wanted to give my two cents in case it helps. It indeed will not allow you to combine designs created in Mydesign space. Since your basting stitch is bigger than the design and is of the hoop size used to keep the fabric tacked down….I would do that step first, by itself. Exit out and proceed with chosen design. Hope that makes sense. @@cindykakutani5944
I keep getting a error message that says to change to a larger frame. The embroidery selection is NOT too large for the frame. Pattern is centered. I’ve checked the frame setting selection. I’ve turned my machine off and on, I’ve taken the embroidery unit off the machine and put it back on. Any suggestions are appreciated.
georgehill1955 - Sorry I missed your note. The most apparent reason is because the design is outside of the embroiderable field. Another reason could be that the design might fit if you rotated it in the hoop. If you created something in My Design Center, you may have left a speck (stitch) on the screen and cannot see it if you do not zoom and scroll around the screen.
Terry Maffitt actually my problem was mechanical...took it to shop.. learned there are little switches in embroidery arm. The one for the largest hoop broke off. They had to order a new switch.
Thanks for the information …. It is helpful to know that can happen. Sorry it happened to you, but glad you got it figured out and repaired. @@georgehill1955
Hi Terry, sadly this just isn't making sense to me. I have an 8x8 hoop in my machine. According to what I've read, it should fit a pattern of 7 5/8th x 7 5/8th. My pattern is 4 x 6.5, yet it tells me I need a larger hoop. How do I fix this so I don't have to go to a larger hoop? I hate wasting my money by always having to use twice the stabilizer than what I need. This is the most frustrating thing about this machine, which makes me hate the embroidery function. If you could help, I would really appreciate it!
@@bethe5018 - The embroidery field on a 8 x 8 is 7.9 x 7.9. If your embroidery design is 4 x 6.5 and that is the size appearing at the top of your embroidery edit screen, make sure the design is centered inside the hoop by going to Embroidery Edit/Move. You should see the arrows at the bottom of the screen to move the design. Choose the center. This positions your design in the center of the hoop. If you are still having issues, it may be related to the sensor on your embroidery Arm. Are you using a Brother or Baby lock hoop or a third party hoop?
I have the brother 5100 dream creator xe, im wondering you I can chose a basting box ? I see the option for the sizes but it doesn't give me an option to use it.
