They found LW!! He died earlier this year. Larry Earnest Wright. That happened back in the day when if you had a car you’re probably qualified. Turns out he wasn’t lmao. I've been there about 10 times. I've been to several other tracks but Talladega is by far my favorite. Its about a 9 hour drive but it is totally worth it. The Talladega experience is 2nd to none.
Also, if you ever make it state-side i recommend checking out a nascar race. It'll be hot and sunny so you'll need water, sunscreen, and willpower. One thing that doesn't come through in video is the noise. It is so loud and so fast that it will literally take your breath away. Earplugs are mandatory in my opinion.

Great Video! I love Talladega, been going there the last three years. Track has always been dangerous, claimed many lives in ARCA races and a couple in Cup Series. Emps video was amazing at describing the track history and all the weird things that happened there. Great reaction as well bud 🤟

I live in Birmingham just about 30 minutes west of Talladega. I’ve been to the track three times total the first time as part of the Boy Scouts of Alabama we actually had an entire statewide scout camp out on the infield of Dega so so so much fun and I have actually done a nighttime neon glowfoam foot race around the outside of the track(look it up online), so much fun and it’s every bit as intimidating and massive as its legend tells. The area around Talladega is gorgeous it is the very trailing end of the Appalachian Mountain Range and it’s full of low mountains and greenery everywhere.

'Dega is a track I have been to. A year or 2 ago LW Wright was located. Dale was the king of restrictor plate racing. He also said. "This is not racing." Interestingly to me, Dale flipped his car over in a restrictor plate race. He got in the ambulance while they were turning it over. WHen he saw the wheels were intact he asked if it would start. Then he left the ambilance to drive the rolled over car and finish the race. Looking forward to your reaction to the NASCAR race at Indy last weekend.

Couple more things. So to clear up some things about Dale Earnhardt and restrictor plate racing. He hated plate racing BUT was also the absolute best ever at it. And his son Dale Jr maybe the second best ever at it. Also, I thought I was the only other person in the world who loved No Country For Old Men all the way up until the ending. Good afternoon bubba. I hope you're well! I've never been to Talladega but it is my favorite track. Closely followed by Daytona and Bristol. I have however driven a NASCAR at the brickyard Indianapolis motor speedway. I was able to make it to about 147 mph. This was paid for by the department that I worked for at the time as part of a driver training program I was going through. (Anyone can drive a NASCAR there and the company is called Richard Petty driving experience. The car was capable of much greater speed. I did not have the skill to go any faster at the time. The fastest I've ever been in a vehicle is 155 mph in a Chevy Tahoe patrol vehicle. There are many vehicles in production that can outrun a patrol car on the top end. However units that are design for pursuit intervention have way better breaks suspension handling and other things that equal the playing field. The officers that are signed these vehicles are also highly qualified to drive them.
You're a lucky man Jason, hoping to try the Richard Petty experience one day myself! I've been 165 in a car before but I had the luck of Yessica's dad being the the director of a show called top gear 💪🏻 thank you for answering
@@ExploringTheSmoke I used to watch top gear all the time. Dale Earnhardt was the first one to master the draft and understand his car and the way the wind worked around him. Therefore he was able to capitalize on the restrictor plate racing and he taught his son and also Michael waltrip. In fact the day he died he was blocking for Junior and Michael who finished the 500 1st and 2nd
@@ExploringTheSmoke I remember that day very clearly. We watch the race. There was some concern but everything went on as normal. Several hours later after the race was over they broke into regular Network programming and announced that Dale had passed. He was a real life superhero if you were a race fan. It was unbelievable!
There is you tube video of talladega's museum. I recommend checking that out. Ricky craven's wrecked talledega car thats in this video is in there. I've been to the talladega museum 3 times and took the bus tour ride around the track twice. 33:55--well almost all good.....mark martin's 3 wall infield hit made his seat belt punch him in the 🥜's! Very hard.😳😲😧😖😫🤬!!! He was grabbing his crotch in serious pain. I bet it was the 3rd hit with the guardrail/fence that caused that. The video you saw didn't show that. Theres other you tube video that does. I was there for the 2003 race. Saw the m&ms car after the blow over. Micheal waltrip won that race. He was sooo happy after what happened to him at daytona 2001. I do recommend watching the entire 2002 aarons 312. It was CRAAAZY. Its on you tube. It was a race of who can fix there wrecked car before the next guy and get back on track. Some of those cars were start and park cars and those cars normally do a couple laps then park it for the race.( so they can $pocket$ last place money💵) But they fixed there dammage and ended up driving the whole race. dale jr had a winning streak going on for awhile at daytona/talledega. He'd get to the lead and stay there. And everyone would always follow him. Race after race. The joke became that if dale ever drove to the infield bathroom everyone would follow him. I was there at talledega(2005?) And saw them film the talledega nights scene where they run across the finish line. They did that hours b/4 the start of the cup race....see you live stream saturday.
I love the knowledge you consistently have cole!! Thank you for being here my man! You're a lucky sun of a gun getting to go to the track so regularly AND you got to see the movie about the track being made, that's pretty damn cool
Heh, yeah... I remember Mark Martin's crash, one of the announcers saw him bend over and said something like he must be thanking god, and another announcer who was a driver pointed out it's closer to "oh GOD", that his anti-sub belts did their job but that's a hell of a smack to the tender bits. For those that don't know, a 5, 6, or 7+ point harness has one or two belts that go from the cam lock down to the seat between the driver's legs to keep a semi-reclined driver from compressing the seat on a frontal impact and potentially slipping underneath the lap belts. They work, and they work well... but the driver's going to KNOW they worked. Still, most are going to take a hard nut shot and the sensation of broken kidneys versus a broken lumbar spine and (actual) internal abdominal injuries, so it's kind of a wash.
1:01:11 basically in 2020. This was found in Nascar driver Bubba Wallaces garage. Him being an African American driver during the BLM riots and Talladega being in the south. A lot of people believed it to be a noose/hate symbol towards him. Investigation went under way and it turned out to be a garage opener. And now Bubba is hated for it, why, for no reason it seems. Some fans are just awful.
Yeah someone else said about it and it made me have a bad taste in my mouth that bubba would have ever used it for media attention when he knew FULL well what they were
Dude, you absolutely can and should pause the video. It allows you to add commentary and makes it transformative. People should be here to see your opinion on the video. Not to see the original video itself. If people are coming here to see the original video without first watching it on EmpLemmons channel they need to understand they are literally taking away from his business and enjoying his work without giving him anything in return.
1:01:07 the only thing I don’t like about this video is he is super disingenuous here. There were investigations that determined it was a garage pull and was there the year prior as well. EmpLemon seems to cut that in there to make it seem like that’s not the case and just glosses over it. This is why a lot of people don’t like Bubba Wallace. Everyone was behind and supported him when it happened because everyone legitimately thought someone put a “rope” (YT friendly term) in Bubba’s garage stall. Bubba had no idea and was told by his crew and NASCAR what was found in his garage. Keep in mind this was during Covid when the only people at the track were exclusively crew and NASCAR personnel, so if it was something offensive it had to come from someone in the industry. The FBI even got involved and determined it was a garage pull and not an offensive gesture and that the pull was in the same exact stall the year before which was not occupied by Wallace and his crew. A reason people don’t like him is after the FBI concluded the investigation instead of saying “I’m so happy it turned out to be something totally innocent and I’m amazed to see the incredible show of support by the fans, teams and other drivers” Bubba instead chose to go on CNN and insist that “It was a straight up n***e” and attempted to further build false outrage which of course absolutely did nothing to help the situation whatsoever.
Yeah someone else said about it and it made me have a bad taste in my mouth that bubba would have ever used it for media attention when he knew FULL well what they were

Fantastic movie, but I hate that ending so much lol.

@@jasonwhoever5528 I learned of dales passing in another video and man, what a day that was
@@ExploringTheSmoke I remember that day very clearly. We watch the race. There was some concern but everything went on as normal. There is you tube video of talladega's museum. I recommend checking that out. Ricky craven's wrecked talledega car thats in this video is in there. I've been to the talladega museum 3 times and took the bus tour ride around the track twice.
33:55--well almost all good.....mark martin's 3 wall infield hit made his seat belt punch him in the
@@mfree80286 thank you for the knowledge
