I will be moving to Las Terrenas and would like to open a bank account; Can I use my Social Security as proof of income. I would also Want to know what information they are looking for in the bank reference.

I'm assuming investment income (from Canada) for a retired person is acceptable income. Also, will have to dig around to see if a married person can buy real estate independently in DR. On the fence between Lagos, Portugal and Las Terrenas. Many pros and cons to both, especially for a Canadian with CAD and EU passports. Great channel going here. And hopefully, Scotia is friendly with DR banks.

@@iLoveLasTerrenas Hi Kash. Well, seeing as you asked, I'll answer. Portugal is pretty much perfect. I've been there three times in the last 18 months. Beautiful, scenic, great hiking, food, people, and it's the third safest country in the world. That being said, I'm not swimming in the Atlantic there. Really cold, and I swim in Georgian Bay! When I was in Las Terrenas, I couldn't help notice how many Europeans were there. And as a Euro/Canadian, I like that. There's nowhere in Europe, really, with warm water all year. I think that's a big part of LT's appeal. Just not sure what you do there other than beach, restaurants and hike.
Going to the DR March or April to check out possibly building a house in Las Terrenas. Is there any chance of meeting up when i come down?

Hi Kash, thx for the video. Love your channel. Those DR banks need to revise their requirements so the process is easier and efficient. It's the only country where my canadian passport is not enough as an ID paper. I was born in Haiti but I left as a child . I don't have any paper from there and it don't feel that I should need any. I am a legit canadian since 40 years . That's ridicilous
