We count ourselves lucky to have had her on! A really great conversation.

I always find it funny that we have the Wonderland Gang with Mad Hatter, but then you have Batwoman's half sister with her 'Alice' persona and they rarely seem to cross paths

Someone call Marie Javins, that would be so fun to pitch!

Thank you for saying that, Sasha!! Batman can be relatable while being rich! Being rich never took him away from that, and I honestly hated it when James Tynion IV made the concept of not making him rich anymore. It really weaken his character.

Brian with the deep history pull this episode. On the female reporter angle I recently read a 1940 book by the original Nancy Drew author which featured her newspaper go-getter reporter girl main character Penny Parker, who has her own lesser known detective series. The trope was very prevalent, in the 40s and I am sure there are plenty of other forgotten examples from the period.

Your show was just suggested to me today and because I saw Sasha, this was the first one I watched. Already subbed and will catch up slowly with the back episodes. I enjoyed the vibe. I’ve been following Batman on and off in the comics since 1975, so it’s interesting to me to hear younger people coming to all the lore and history.

The show has evolved a bit, the older episodes are different. But I hope you enjoy them all the same! Welcome to the Bat Family🦇

31:07 It makes sense for her to be depicted with either hair color, because Marilyn Monroe was a natural redhead who bleached her hair.

Golden Age gender dynamics is a fun thing to explore. I was reading The Black Canary Archives and noting the differences in how she's written by Robert Kanigher in the late 40s and Dennis O"Neil in the early 70s is fascinating.

For Hatter to pull so many gas related weapons out of his hat, I guess he was a bit of an air head...

The thing is this is not even the first appearance of A Mad Hatter villain in Batman.
In Detective Comics #74 there is the first appearance of Batman's villains Tweedledee and Tweedledum and one of their henchmen is a guy with a Mad Hatter costume
