- European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen says the EU plans to ban Russian crude oil over the next six months and refined fuels by the end of the year as part of a sixth round of sanctions to increase pressure on Vladimir Putin over his invasion of Ukraine. In remarks to the European Parliament, von der Leyen also said the EU is proposing to cut off Sberbank and other lenders from the international SWIFT payment system.
War crimes were committed also in Iraq, Afganistán, Syria, Libya, Yemen, Gaza,Yugoslavia etc!

We don't need any oil or gas in the EU. We have technology that is 10x cheaper to build and run. EU subsidizes fossil fuels so that it seems the cheapest option, but in reality it's extremely expensive to run our cars and trucks on gasoline, heat homes and offices with natural gas or coal, and to generate electricity by all three. We cannot end almost non existent GDP growth without switching from fossils. Any money that is printed to make this investment will result in extreme prosperity that will cover the expenses manyfold.

It's even worse! We're digging the grave of the entire West. The oil prices will skyrocket even in US due to the high demand from Europe. The US financial minister (whatever he/she/it is called) has already warned the EU, if they take this step that will cause serious issues in the oil supply chain everywhere. JP Morgan predicted that these sanctions can raise the crude prices up to 185 $/barrel.
Meanwhile India, China and other smarter countries can buy Russian oil much cheaper, which gives them a huge competitive advantage.

Russia's turn to Asia will be extremely difficult, if eaven possible because the infrastructure (roads, railways) in Siberia are terrible and there are not many pipelines. And theoretically, it is possible to expand them, but so far Russia has used technologies from the west in construction ... technologies and machines that now cannot be bought. greatly hardening and slowing down any development. Not to mention that the same applies to technologies in mining, gas and refineries, meaning if something breaks, they will have to limit production.

Sadly the war is all about the huge Yuzivska shale gas deposit in the Donbas (1.09 - 4 trillion metric metres of shale gas) - the second-largest shale gas deposit in Europe. The EU was interested in buying gas from Ukraine in order to diversify its suppliers and cut dependence on Russian gas. Ukraine has extensive gas storage facilities and pipelines, close to the EU, and such an arrangement would make a large dent in Gazprom's (Putin's) profits. Similarly, Crimea has large offshore gas deposits that Putin wanted. This war is all about Putin's Gazprom profits. That's why they are pulling back to defend Donbas. That's why Russia was funding the “separatists."
