The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is a 1993 action-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy. It was the first installment in The Legend of Zelda series for a handheld game console.
Link's Awakening began as a port of the Super NES game The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, developed after-hours by Nintendo staff. It grew into an original project under the direction of Takashi Tezuka, with a story and script created by Yoshiaki Koizumi and Kensuke Tanabe. It is one of the few Zelda games not to take place in the land of Hyrule and does not feature Princess Zelda or the Triforce relic. Instead, protagonist Link begins the game stranded on Koholint Island, a place guarded by a whale-like deity called the Wind Fish. Assuming the role of Link, the player fights monsters and solves puzzles while searching for eight musical instruments that will awaken the sleeping Wind Fish and allow him to escape from the island.
Link's Awakening was critically and commercially successful. Critics praised the game's depth and a number of features; complaints focused on its control scheme and monochrome graphics. An updated re-release titled The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX was released for the Game Boy Color in 1998 featuring color graphics, compatibility with the Game Boy Printer, and an exclusive color-based dungeon. Together, the two versions of the game have sold more than six million units worldwide, and have appeared on multiple game publications' lists of the best video games of all time. A remake of the game will be released for the Nintendo Switch on September 2019.

What does the new Link Amiibo do in BOTW?
Nothing. It acts like any other non-related TLOZ amiibo. It gives you normal other items though.
It is doubtful they will release a new update to the original game with data for this amiibo. It's too bad though, because the SSB Young Link amiibo didn't have any special function either. They should use this game as an opportunity to give us new content for the Young Link and Dream Link amiibos, and give us one more page of armor slots so we can carry everything instead of having to sell some off.

I like the analog idea of the Amiibos. It makes receiving a dungeon feel special. Nice to have a Shadow Link too

I'm pretty excited for the dungeon maker since its a first step to a TLOZ maker. Wish it weren't only rooms that already exist in game but different in game props which you could LINK together. But one step at a time.

The problem with the new Nintendo Switch is that you can't "LINK" it to your TV but you can play "LINK" on your "LINK" Wii U tablet screen. Love your Zelda content man, keep up with your "LINK" connections!

The first Zelda game I ever owned and played was A Link to the Past for the SNES (I was 7 years old at the time). I loved that game so much and still do. It’s what made me fall in love with the series, so naturally, it’ll always hold a special place in my heart. BUT I always had to share it with my older sister, and while she beat the game, I just couldn’t quite do it at the time.
About a year and a half later, for Christmas, my parents bought me a GameBoy. Finally, I had a game system that was mine, and I didn’t have to share it. It made my sister happy, cause it meant she had the Super Nintendo all to herself (at least for a little while).
One of the games my parents bought for me to go with my GameBoy was Link’s Awakening. I freaking loved this game as a child, and although I eventually beat A Link to the Past, Link’s Awakening was actually the first Zelda game I ever beat.
Not long after that, I got back on the SNES and was able to beat A Link to the Past a lot more easily. Maybe it was because I was a little older and better at video games in general, but I like to think that it’s because Link’s Awakening was good practice for my slightly harder Zelda game on the SNES. lol
I don’t own a Switch yet, but my wife and I want one (or 2 lol). We own Breath of the Wild for the Wii-U, and loved it. BotW was actually my wife’s first experience playing a Zelda game, and after she beat it, it inspired her to play older titles like Twilight Princess and A Link to the Past.
I can’t wait to eventually play the new Link’s Awakening and am excited for my wife to experience an updated version of the game that I fell in love with as a kid!
Better transfering dungeons with amiibo instead of a Link cable.
It seems like the new Link amiibo has the best effects. I also really hope they improve this in BotW2 at the very least for all the BotW amiibos

The feature where you can save a dungeon to an amiibo is like the thing on the wii where you could save a mii to your wii remote and drop it into someone else’s wii

Franklin Buskirk for real such amazing games although links awakening was my first Zelda ever and it being remade was incredible. Seasons and Ages were two of my favorite games and definitely would be awesome to see remade.
It would be cool to see this make your own dungeon in Breath of the Wild 2. I feel Links Awakening is a trial run for this concept.

Here's a thought. If you have a PC adaptor for scanning amiibo data, you can share dungeons online, but obviously only with those that also have such an adaptor.
It's pretty amazing that Nintendo remade all of links Awakening in a very appealing style like even my younger sister was like I want that game but got a bit unhappy when I told her it was a Zelda game

Here is a big time zelda player here..(watched more than a few for pointers).. and he is able to get that one characters name right...I'M TALKING ABOUT SHADOW LINK not dark link..(darkwing). Every game he is in is a mere shadow of the hero link..let along the ultimate mini boss fight of all time in oot.
Having to only use 5 amiibo saves people from having to get different amiibo to get different rooms which is great. Sadly, the way to share them still makes it feel like Nintendo doesnt know how to get with the times. And cosmetics/weapons would be cool but there are a lot of them.
I always saw Link's Awakening as the true missing "LINK" to the past Zelda titles.

Links Awakening amiibo might be my new favorite zelda amiibo.
I am going to miss the photo opportunities with Link and the mouse! I think they could still have used the feature somehow- I never had the printer but it was still fun to have those cutscenes and album in game!

Tell you what, despite being upset about not being able to upload my dungeons and download others dungeons like in Mario Maker, I will still be picking up the new Link's Awakening Link Amiibo because at least I can still share the dungeons with my friends and what not.
Zelda games LINK me back to my childhood when all we had was just one Legend of Zelda.
They could have easily LINKED to the past and had different amiibo add different enemies . Enemies that aren’t in the game . Anniversary edition gives you dragon boss from Zelda 1, botw amiibo introduces a guardian, etc .

Honestly i replayed the original and what i missed most was the picture side quest like when the bow wow attacked LINK b4 the pic was taken. Hopefully thats in there minus printing out the pic

I really like the design of the new Link amiibo. Probably because it's it's basically a toy off the thing that's designed like a toy.
The dungeon editor will be fun with the amibos and if im right (could be wrong) but if we like the dungeon editor there could be a chance to a Zelda Dungeon Maker game but i love how they link it up
