    PG’s Perry Bean caught up the Baltimore-based band and their techs to talk gear before All Time Low’s headlining show at Nashville’s Ascend Ampitheater.
    Lead guitarist Jack Barakat’s main ride is this purple ESP Eclipse-II that has custom pumpkin inlays with Seymour Duncan pickups-a JB in the bridge and a Jazz in the neck-because he felt the standard active pickups ESP uses are too hot and distorted for the band’s sound. However, he bypassed all the electronics in the guitar and the bridge pickup goes straight to the output jack. He prefers to have his axes finished in matte because it helps him retain a solid grip up and down the guitar after starting to sweat during performances. (Oh, and he does like how it looks, too.) All of his guitars are strung up with Ernie Ball Beefy Slinkys .011-.054. He uses custom All Time Low-branded Jim Dunlop Tortex .73 mm picks.
    Like his 6-string counterpart, rhythm guitarist Alex Gaskarth is loyal to one type of axe, and in his case, it’s a Fender Classic Series ’72 Telecaster Deluxe that comes stock with Wide Range humbuckers. Just like Barakat, he plays Ernie Ball Beefy Slinkys .011-.054.

    Traducido: Jack usa solo el pickup del puente en todas sus guitarras, el otro esta anulado. Usa Kemper y tiene sus tonos favoritos entre ellos unos de blink-182 que le dio Mark Hoppus. La Stratocaster amarilla es una Tom Delonge Signature, la quiso desde los 11 años y se la compro al bajista de New Found Glory. La guitarra blanca le pinto las franjas negras como la de Tom Delonge. Lo de tirar las guitarras por primera vez se lo vio a Story of the year y penso "Yo quiero hacer eso!". El asistente de Alex y Zack fue desinteresado y vago para la entrevista, ellos no pudieron estar presentes porque se sentian mal. Alex prefiere usar una guitarra y tiene todo bien simple. Usa solo un canal y maneja la distorsion con el potenciometro de volumen. Tambien usa Kemper, solo un Budda 30 watt. Zack usa un preamplificador Avalon y usa distorsion en algunos estribillos de algunas canciones. Los asistentes se encargan de pisar los pedales durante las canciones mientras la banda se concentra en tocar y ademas Jack interactua mucho con el publico y corre de aca para alla. Eso es casi todo, lo demás importante del video lo sacas viendolo y googleando.

    I surely understand the convenience and consistency of an amp modeler, but in a rig run down it's like 'yep' and done. Part of it is there is a passion behind a pedal board, when an artist will deal with all the issues because they fell for a sound that they feel is part of who they are.

      Silverjerk true, there are many more of them. Should have said "Modelers". My bad friend! I'm really jonesing for a high end modeler right now honestly. It does always bum me out when I see them in a rig rundown though haha.

    • @Silverjerk
      @Silverjerk 8 лет назад

      I have an Axe Fx Ultra. I was an old school analog guy for many years. I love my Triple Rec's, Orange Rockerverb's, and VH4's. When I finally got my Axe, I offloaded every amp I had. It was seriously that much of a game changer. I'm actually upgrading to a II shortly as I really want to start using scenes, which is the only shortcoming of the Ultra (that and it's a little less accurate than the II).
      Absolutely encourage picking one up when you can afford it. I coupled mine with a solid power amp and a 2x12 cabinet from Port City and haven't looked back since. Perfect setup for stage or studio.

    • @ColeFleming
      @ColeFleming 8 лет назад

      I've been using a thunder verb 50, and an omega 4x12 1x15. I love the sound from this rig but man does my back hate it. It appeals to be so much to just pop the front off of a rack and get to work. But always afraid I'll miss what I have when it's gone.

    • @Silverjerk
      @Silverjerk 8 лет назад

      To be fair, I did miss my amps, aesthetically. Just seeing them stacked up in the studio was always really appealing to me, and I love turning them on and hearing them come to life. But I definitely don't miss the tone, and more importantly the warmth of those amps -- the Axe just does an amazing job at emulating both. And just like you, lugging the rig around was doing a number on my back.
      Really big fan of the Omegas man, great cabs for the money.
