thanks. I was writing on vella and had a chapter using the word "gift" in it and the chapter was blocked as non-conforming etc. When I finally got a real person to deal with and explained the chapter was about a gift that a character got they told me to change it because... a reader might think they'll be getting a free gift with the chapter.
@@DaleLRoberts actually, it's just plain stupid. Do they really think their readers are that mentally challenged that they're going to think if they read this chapter they're going to get some sort of freebie.
Great info, m'man! This convoluted AZ bs gives me more fuel for building my platform. I've been working on it for years; it challenges this whole AZ books business model. We'll see if our model can provide a significant threat to AZ's _(I'm quite confident that it will)._ Anyway, back to the code....................................
Thanks Dale! This update was very helpful. I found it from your recent pole about the new keyword system...after a minor panic that i would have to go change my stuff. I dont think I will have to. Its been a hot minute since I published. I am glad you specifically mentioned not including other authors names in the keyword boxes. Thats a good reminder. Does this rule also apply on the amazon ads side when selecting ad keywords?
Have you - or anyone else - ever explained WHY the royalties in KDP keep fluctuating, usually in a downward spiral? I've got a few orders a month ago, and the royalties on those orders have been continually decreasing. The books were printed and delivered long ago, so it's not because of fluctuating production expenses. The deal is done and dusted. WHY do they keep decreasing my royalties?
I've been spending too much time with spicy book readers because when Dale say the absolute don't that starts with "F" my mind continued it with a U and with K. I nearly slap myself when he revealed "Free" hahaha 🤣
haha Sadly, werebear shapeshifter romance is quite as hot as it once was. Maybe if I shelf the reference for now, it'll come back in style within the next decade. haha
Hello, thank you for these clarifications. I'm still struggling with the keyword "book" because it's used by customers. The word "book" indicates the customer's wish to find a book (and not a decoration or an another product) in the search engine. 7:00 So, if a customer enters "spiritual book" in the amazon search engine: is using the word "spiritual" in one of the 7 boxes enough to rank for this search? Wouldn't using the word "book" help? Thanks if you can share a second clarification
We can theorize all we want but the fact is KDP told us it’s a product descriptor that’s already associated with your book. FTR, I use “book” when no other keyword can fill the slot.
Dale, why punctuation doesn't matter? If i need the frase: self help book for adults, with a coma, i close the frase and give relevance to that frase. But without coma i just let amazon choose and create the frase between that and othere minimum 4 other words. Can you explain better? Thanks
I had a viewer post a comment about that very word and it got them in hot water. It's all hearsay, but you're better off safe than sorry. Ask support and track all conversations.
I used to train at a pro wrestling school in Cincinnati where our trainer Les Thatcher would degrade us in a lot of horrible ways (as some would say, it was a different time back then). He used to tell me I wouldn't amount to more than a popcorn fart. Sad part is he took it easy on me because I was in great conditioning and was always eager to learn (even if he did refer to me as minor flatulence). I can't repeat what he'd say to some of the others. It was WAY worse.
Haha that’s gonna be kind of like the example of my buddy Scott using the word free. You’ll just have to communicate with the team ahead of time so they know why you’re using the term.
It's certainly helpful for marketing, but not critical to it. For the first few years in the business, I was successful without it. If you have the discretionary expense, get it. But, don't feel obligated to get it.
As always, great information. By the time I'm ready to publish I'm going to be unstoppable. 😊
Heck, yeah! I'm so glad to hear it.

Great advice and now can see why some great books aren't being seen... Cheers 🎉
Thanks for watching!
Ooh, great tip on keyword specifics for fiction, Dale! (screenshot!)
Thanks!
Excellent intel as always!
Appreciate that!
Such a helpful video, Dale, thank you! 🔥
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video. Thanks!
I appreciate that. Thanks!

No, Amazon Ads is a complete different system. As long as you’ve got money and your product has relevance, they’ll put you anywhere. Haha

Ooo, you’re gonna need to contact support on that. I haven’t heard about this issue at all.

WHO KNEW Dale was searching for were-bear shifter romances?! I knew it!! :P

You’ll need to ask them that question. That’s their recommendation so they’ll give you a better reason why.
Hi DALE If I use the word “gift” in the subtitle, does it pose a problem for the account, because I have seen many publishers use? it?
I had a viewer post a comment about that very word and it got them in hot water. It's all hearsay, but you're better off safe than sorry. Ask support and track all conversations.
simple question - do you put a comma between keywords and phrases?
No.
Exactly WHAT is a popcorn fart??
A tiny little puff of gas that's hardly noticeable in both scent and smell. Hence "popcorn" as the descriptor.

What if someone's book was set in the Amazon? 🤔
Haha that’s gonna be kind of like the example of my buddy Scott using the word free. You’ll just have to communicate with the team ahead of time so they know why you’re using the term.
So if i want my books to be seen and bought, should i use Publisher Rocket?

Four letter word that starts with an f 😂
hahahaha I got ya!
Ford
so is the AI algorithm smart enough to distinguish 'kindle' from 'rekindle your romance' as keyword phrases, huh, huh?? 🤣
haha Well played!
