Ngl, while I also loved the experiment and the result is way better than I expected, I don't think any of it really need to be anywhere outside this video. 😂
It would go down so well here in Scotland. I recently saw Daði Freyr in Stirling and he really got the crowd going with a sick electro version of “Loch Lomond”.
@@thatotherted3555 Thanks for the tip 🙂 Based on the video I found, very cool stuff. Songs with old traditional and slightly weird instruments with a modern twist are so interesting.
@@gutterg0d Yeah I partially agree, the recorder can stay in this video 😂 It just breaks my ears and brings back traumas 😅 Typing sounds usually makes my head explode, but it wasn't so bad autotuned and put in a song like that. But that bagpipe and beat...I would like to see what Roomie could do with those, if he would seriously attempt to make a full song with them.
@@rainbowzgrqceOf course we know that Joel’s and Daniel’s collective talents are magical like that…especially when they come together in a video. Amiright?!
I totally agree with you. I wish Joel would make more of a series out of his experimental videos. I’m always curious to see what he comes up with to experiment on or with.
With a good player and a good instrument, you don't need to auto-tune them. Electronica with bagpipes is already an established genre. Everything from The Sidh and Niteworks to The Snake Charmer. Rock with bagpipes has been around for decades. They fit any genre. But Daniel's pipes certainly need some kind of tuning.
@@PenneySounds you maybe don’t need to autotune them but it’s fun to experiment and see the different outcomes and as long as your not doing anything offensive, music should be chaotic neutral and fun 😊 I listen to Red Hot Chilli Pipers frequently and know that standard pipe fusion is a thing but stuff like this video brings it to the forefront for people who would’ve otherwise not have heard it and any form of musical awareness is fun and might lead to someone making new musical discoveries 🙂
As someone who also recommended the bagpipes for this, I was not disappointed in the way you ended up making them sound. So good! I need that used in a full song.
The bagpipes make me want to talk about one of the funniest moments of musical commentary I remember. Disgraced filmmaker Max Landis reviewed Carly Rae Jepsen's whole career in a weird manifesto on his website a while after her album Emotion came out, and he was shocked and amazed by what he called "some kind of wailing, low cry; a kind of synth bagpipe". Of course, what he was actually referring to was the saxophone on Cut to a Feeling.
I haven't watched a lot of your content lately but I love stuff like this. I've missed your random song creation content. So good and creative. I swear you Roomie can turn anything into a song
Always fun to see these song making videos because its kind of like magic the way you put all the bits together to make something cool. And as a Scot who is not the biggest fan of bagpipes this turned out pretty sick!
Daniel said he was going to use his bagpipes in futur videos, and it is here he ended up doing it?? After so many years of waiting endlessly? TwT DANIEL, GIVE US THE SACKPIPE MCDOODLE VIDEO YOU PROMISED!!!
Everyone plays recorder for a few reasons: 1) it's a really cheap instrument, so it's easier to get a class set of them 2) it's easier to make sound with a recorder than many instruments, and even easier to make a relatively nice sound, despite the many students that still overblow. 3) Hitler (yep, German nationalism in the mid-20th century was one of the major pushes to mass produce cheap and accessible recorders, and actually was a huge part of what led to the recorder becoming a staple of elementary music education.)
5:30 "I'm not a pychopath, so I don't actually have my sound on on my phone when I'm typing." I'm so glad you're talking about this! People who have their phone sounds really are the worst!

Loved the bagpipes. Cool instrument if you can work it in to current music. I always like your videos best when you do musical experiments like this. It’s very fun to watch and I can tell you also get a kick out of it. What about doing requested songs in the style of another artist using diverse instruments and auto tune? For example baby one more time by Britney Spears in the style of the Tea Party using things like a didgeridoo and stuff. That would be fun.
I was sure you would do it with Daniel when i answered bagpipe to your story. Also, like you i hate typing sound on the phone, lol. Good job. This video is so fun and entertaining. Thanks.
Auto Tuning Instruments 👀 We're in for a distorted yet chaotic & fun creations. Needed some humour during these harsh times. Danke for sharing, Hope everyone is doing well, Keep It Up Bro 🎶 😎 👊
Formants are actually harmonic resonances above the fundamental frequency. So the sound gets darker, when you lower the formants which sounds similar to removing higher frequencies with eq but it's different :)
The bagpipes were shockingly good. I had no faith with how chaotic bagpipes naturally are, but it really pulled a lot of interesting texture from it, taking all the fractured sounds and filling them out.
That autotuned bagpipe and sick beat needs to be in some full song. I loved this experiment.

Check out the Australian band Brother, they use bagpipe and didgeridoo (not on every song)

Honestly just kind of sounds like Scottish Smallpipes, which have a deeper sound.

As a German, you actually pronounced Bach correctly the first time. And thank you for that because it's really annoying to hear everyone say Bak.
true tho
Look, English just plain doesn't have that sound. Just be glad they aren't calling him Bah.
He just said it in Swedish and its the same pronunciation so ^^

The bagpipes went from, well bagpipes, to folky country violin to Viking chant to eurodance 😂👍👌
11:50 Answers In Progress did a great video about the history of the Recorder and why it's so ubiquitous in schools. Mainly cheap and easy to build.
Cymbals, steeldrums, cuicas, gongs, Aztec death whistles, berimbau, traffic cop whistles, airliner engine, vuvuzela, FPV racing drone recorded during a race, cicadas, whale song, old-school GSM phone interference.
I can already hear it

Joel, you're so in your element when you make music. Love seeing that :) Also, bagpipes look like they require four pairs of lungs to play lmao
