I got rejected 2 years in a row :") I mean, the first year I applied I got rejected on the first phase, and now I got rejected on the second phase. Honestly, I'm so glad I got rejected. I felt so bad after the weekend with other participants because I realized that I don't know myself really well, and, because of this, I wasn't able to express the real me and my opinions. I think this was a chance for me to realize how much I still have to reflect about myself, and also to accept that I take a while to assimilate everything. I'm trying to understand myself better, but I still have next year to apply and I hope that, at the time, I have more self knowledge than right now
Just to add my two cents and disclaimer I also now work for my NC In 2015 I got rejected but was accepted second time to UWCCR (2016) but hey ho the NC didn't have enough money and my parents could also not fund it (them tuition fees hella ridiculous). So i just graduated regular public school in my country, which is not terrible. I now study law and global studies at a top University in my country. While I still wish that I could have attended UWC, and I bet all of us rejects do, I just want to tell you that there is more to life and your educational fulfillment outside of UWC. I'm still friends with the people I applied with, and I know two of them who haven't gone onto go to Uni and many who wish they didn't go. But more importantly, I think what I got out of the experience is a network of people, whether or not they got in or not, who share the same values as you do. I grew up in a pretty isolated area, and even being able to find that place and that group of people was a great experience. So don't lose hope. There are some things in life that don't work out, and it really hurts, but I also know people who have been rejected from UWC to go on and do amazing things - so don't lose heart and don't beat yourself up for any outcome. From someone who works with the NC now, the main problem is we don't have enough money to send students, so if you can't go its likely this reason, you are not alone :Z
I just got rejected because I think I really screwed up my zoom interview and said things like wanting to go to Oxford which i actually don’t want to.I think the main reason is that my national committee really cares about grades, but I don’t think they define how smart you are. I had received partially funded scholarship but had to reject it due to my parents’ financial background. We didn’t have any option to say because they didn’t request anything like that before nominations and the national committee told us that this was all the financial help we could ever get :(
Lydia Jane It’s okay... i just don’t think it’s fair how financial aid is given in my country.. they don’t ask for any information and give the financial aid randomly. For exemple someone with money might receive full and someone without partially and couldn’t pay..
i got rejected around around February and was devastated at first as I couldn’t really see how i didn’t get in. but after reflecting on what went well in my interviews and what i could’ve improved on, even after receiving my assessment feedback, I had only made the slightest error and they emphasized how they’d really want me to reapply again this year for class of 2025’ as I’d have a much stronger chance of getting accepted. Even though the mistake was small, i can definitely see how it would’ve effected my interviews and i’m glad that they even want me to give it a second go, and i feel much more confident to hopefully applying again. im having my final round in a week and getting prepared mentally. not being pessimistic, but after receiving an invitation to the final round ive been daydreaming all the time about how i would be going to each school, planning my day, etc. and i just feel that i might have already set my expectations too high and i better not focus on it that much yet. thank you so much for your words, they are actually so true, its hard to see how many other opportunities are around when you get rejected, but there will bw always something for you
Omg I really don't know what to expect in the future, but I think this video is really helpful in all cases, thank you very much. Saludos desde Paraguay 🇵🇾❣️
@@asadwholesomememe2749 So yea basically, I got rejected by all of them. But I learned to accept it, of course UWC is a great opportunity to gain self awareness a build an international community. But what makes UWC strong it is also their weakness! You grow a sort obsession and feel depended on the UWC community. It's hard to bond with anyone outside that community and it's also hard to find a purpose outside UWC. Because UWC is described as the highlight of their life, the top of the iceberg, and when they have reached that top, you can only go downhill. They grow pessimistic about a lot of things after they finish UWC. (This information is based on stories of family members who went to UWC, peers I had when I did the Global Citizen Academy (GCA) and my own point of view). It's really not the end of the world, and that is said by someone who applied 5 times and emailed all 18 schools. ;) I found my sense of purpose because of this and I hope to build my own international boarding school organisation someday, for everyone and every age the opportunity to apply to with and hopefully a good community and several different ways of eduction so that everyone can achieve a diploma in their own way. I hope you doing alright and let this little setback not take your future dreams away.
That's so nice what you're saying and the way you are looking at things. It is so true that if it isn't meant to be it is sad but maybe you're only a few steps away from something greater that suits you more and you will be passionate about.
The problem is that in my country the national committee is choosing people with no logic like you should fill your application and if they like it the will bring you to the interview and if they relaxed with you you are going to be accepted that's doesn't make any sense
@Shanay Bryan Ahaha that was so long ago, I got waitlisted that year but I applied again the next year, and now I'm in UWC Mostar :) Honestly I'm glad I didn't get in that year because I learnt so much more, and would not have been in this college otherwise.
@Shanay Bryan I can relate. Honestly just take it easy, my friend who's now in LPC also had a lot of technical difficulties during her interview. I'm sure your national committee would understand, and whatever happens is okay too. Where are you from?
Another video on how to deal with rejection from UWC colleges. I think the main problem is the selection process is handled by UWC National Chapters/Selection Committees that operate by their own set of rules with little or no oversight from any supra entity. That alone leaves lots of room to question how fair their selection process is. Some of us former "disgruntled rejects" suspect those sitting on the boards/selection committees of UWC National Chapters (usually wealthy patrons and influential UWC alumni) have every incentive to "rig the system" to privilege their own UWC-applying kids, grand-kids, nieces, grand nieces, nephews, or grand nephews over other general applicants. Not saying all National Committees are the same, but we have a reason to believe that some are "rotten to the core". The real reason for rejection may not always be that "they are not good enough, or smart enough" - there is more to it than meets the eye. But who''s keeping score or monitoring? No one, which is why your video provides little comfort to many of those rejected by UWCs.
I got rejected on second round and i think the reason was the interview that i was so nervous. The sad part is that im the perfect fit for uwc but for the anxious i got rejected:) like my grades are so great and i worked so hard for the first stage that i finally passed but in 30 mins i ruined everything… now im thinking about people who got accepted and how happy they are and im so happy for them but wish i could get accepted too They didn’t even mentioned money so idk i guess i feel so low and useless..

Hi, I have a question. Do any of you know why UWC doesn’t reply to emails to people who were rejected. My daughter just really wants to get a feedback, she isn’t angry, sad or anything like that. She is incredibly successful and she already been accepted to two other very reputable schools. But she would love to have a feedback what went wrong? UWC ignores hers ours emails and this part of rejection is a bit upsetting for all of us. Good luck everyone
I got rejected but I think it was because I mentioned my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and needing quiet and rest sometimes lol. Maybe not the best idea for the application

Because I am getting paranoid that they do not have my correct email id. Thank you so much!
Saumya Shinde hey!! Thank you! I don’t think there’s any rule like that, we’ve got tons of siblings that have come through isak :)) and each NC treats rejection letters differently, so I’m really not sure. But don’t lose hope yet! COVID has made the process suuuper messy this year

Hey! Wow, that is early! I'm going to be honest, I think it'll be a bit of a wait. Usually, people hear back in the fall at the earliest. HOWEVER, I don't know very much about GSP at all! I'm just going off of what I've heard from people. So I could be completely wrong!

For anyone looking to reapply, if you can, go ask your NC on Assessment feedback and try to correct those mistakes you could’ve made that held you back and come to the interview process feeling much more confident and knowledgeable than before! you’ve got this :)
Would it be a problem if you tell what are the mistakes someone can make, and what you did
im having my final round in a week and getting prepared mentally. not being pessimistic, but after receiving an invitation to the final round ive been daydreaming all the time about how i would be going to each school, planning my day, etc. and i just feel that i might have already set my expectations too high and i better not focus on it that much yet.
thank you so much for your words, they are actually so true, its hard to see how many other opportunities are around when you get rejected, but there will bw always something for you
Omg I really don't know what to expect in the future, but I think this video is really helpful in all cases, thank you very much. Saludos desde Paraguay 🇵🇾❣️

@@meghanarella3573 heyy! did they reply to your waitlist? do you know what will happen to us lol

It's really not the end of the world, and that is said by someone who applied 5 times and emailed all 18 schools. ;)
I found my sense of purpose because of this and I hope to build my own international boarding school organisation someday, for everyone and every age the opportunity to apply to with and hopefully a good community and several different ways of eduction so that everyone can achieve a diploma in their own way.
I hope you doing alright and let this little setback not take your future dreams away.
This year I got rejected to get into UWC. But thanks a lot, this video cure my sadness feelings :')
I'm so sorry
Do they send you an email if you got rejected?
@@taralee8389 no, in my country if I don't get the email from NC, it means that I got rejected :')
That's so nice what you're saying and the way you are looking at things. It is so true that if it isn't meant to be it is sad but maybe you're only a few steps away from something greater that suits you more and you will be passionate about.
The problem is that in my country the national committee is choosing people with no logic
like you should fill your application and if they like it the will bring you to the interview and if they relaxed with you you are going to be accepted that's doesn't make any sense
So helpful! I'm gonna try my luck next year, but this is very reassuring.
I just got rejected and i felt awful thanks for this video it made me feel better
Hi I just had my final interview, and I think I screwed it up. Found my way here, thx
And how was it?
@Shanay Bryan Ahaha that was so long ago, I got waitlisted that year but I applied again the next year, and now I'm in UWC Mostar :) Honestly I'm glad I didn't get in that year because I learnt so much more, and would not have been in this college otherwise.
@Shanay Bryan I can relate. Honestly just take it easy, my friend who's now in LPC also had a lot of technical difficulties during her interview. I'm sure your national committee would understand, and whatever happens is okay too. Where are you from?
@Shanay Bryan I'm from Hong Kong! Also, feel free to ask any questions if you have any :)
i didnt even apply yet and am watching this video for comfort...

The sad part is that im the perfect fit for uwc but for the anxious i got rejected:) like my grades are so great and i worked so hard for the first stage that i finally passed but in 30 mins i ruined everything… now im thinking about people who got accepted and how happy they are and im so happy for them but wish i could get accepted too
They didn’t even mentioned money so idk i guess i feel so low and useless..
Hi, i got waitlisted after the interview, and i feel the same way as you. I worked hard on my application and felt that i would fit in great at UWC. But i feel like i messed it up at the interview unfortunately, because i was stressed and didnt answer the questions that well :,(

Could you tell me what other two schools she applied t
I got rejected but I think it was because I mentioned my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and needing quiet and rest sometimes lol. Maybe not the best idea for the application
thank you so much for making this.
I'm waiting for the results.....
Hey Lydia! Amazing video!!! I remember watching it once even before I had applied to calm myself down. I haven't heard anything from them yet. Do you know if there is any rule relating to siblings applying one after the other (my sister is in 12 grade in MUWCI this year)? And will they atleast send a rejection letter? Because I am getting paranoid that they do not have my correct email id. Thank you so much!
Saumya Shinde hey!! Thank you! I don’t think there’s any rule like that, we’ve got tons of siblings that have come through isak :)) and each NC treats rejection letters differently, so I’m really not sure. But don’t lose hope yet! COVID has made the process suuuper messy this year
@@LydiaJane Thank you so much! I will keep this video handy just incase. ;)

@@norbuwangchuk5091 hey! I would suggest to start looking for other institutions. I am doing the same thing. Keep hoping but also just in case. Also I learnt that it might be because of the pandemic. If you applied for a scholarship, your chances are slim.

Hey! What's up! I just saw your comment here and I was like "Gosh I finally found someone who's going to uwcsea". I heard that they hardly ever reject nominations by the national committees. Hey I actually only submitted my application pretty recently. Im applying through the GSP and I chose ISAK as my first choice. Do you have any idea about the wait time for the application. I applied 2 weeks ago and I haven't received anything yet so I'm a little anxious.
Hey! Wow, that is early! I'm going to be honest, I think it'll be a bit of a wait. Usually, people hear back in the fall at the earliest. HOWEVER, I don't know very much about GSP at all! I'm just going off of what I've heard from people. So I could be completely wrong!

I got into ISAK Japan. If anyone is already in ISAK or got into ISAK please DM me. Iwould love to get to know u.
Abdirahman Salad woah!! Congratulations!! Hit me up :))
How is the colona virus in ISAK?
Y A since we are an international boarding school, we are allowed to stay here and keep learning. It would be more dangerous for us to travel to the airport and go back home, so we are staying here. However, we are mostly staying on campus and there aren’t any school trips happening!
Lydia Jane thanks for your reply!
question, you applied for G10 or DP1 in ISAK?

Did you get accepted?
Hi Lydia,
Please HELP me🙏
I am applying to UWC this year and I got selected for the interview. And my national committee has one slot full scholarship to ISAK Japan. But I am concern about my age since most UWC's age criteria is between 16 to 18... And I will be 18 and half if I happen to attain UWC... My date of birth is 25 February 2002, am I eligible to get into ISAK?
Please HELP
Hari Prasad Acharya hey!! Congrats on the interview :)) I think you should be okay, especially if you’ve made it to the interview stage. There’s lots of different ages at uwcs! But I can’t guarantee anything, as I don’t know the ins and outs of the NC process. So all I can say is do your best, and don’t worry about what you can’t control!
