This challenge was the first one that I could have been competitive in. Man I really which I lived around there, so I could do some attempts. At least I've decided I'm going to start some training to get back some of my vertical.

I don't remember my standing vertical jump but based on my reach and the fact I could get 2 knuckles over a 10' basketball rim (at 5'8" in high school), my vertical was 32". Can't even come close to that now.
My Vert has definitely fallen since high school basketball too. I’m the same weight but just train for strength and not as explosive. At least at jumping.

Does anybody else ever watch these and wish they lived closer? Some of these challenges just fit right into peoples strengths. I was waiting for one of those high school kids that jump freakishly high to come in tbf. Some kids in my conference can jump like 35 inches standing, I was waiting for them tbh.

We had sticky notes at work and a 12’ ceiling … never found a coworker who beat my 33 but buddy at the gym got 38. Sticky notes would help them get higher

How long we talking? This one came in at 16 which is a pretty long video for us. But we can make 20+ min videos too! They do take longer to edit however.
These videos make you realize how athletics real athletes are. In my college strength and conditioning class we did vert and 1 person got over 20 inches and I got 32 inches. Like 32 is good but not even amazing and average ppl are like 13. Idk how pros get 42 and over
This is STANDING vertical, not vertical leap (with an approach). The most athletic NBA superstars like Wade and Gordon had 30-32" standing verts during their draft combines. (Draft combine results are available in NBA's site)
The camera man was the smartest one out of the bunch. He jumped, but he pushed his up to a higher level. Many of them held on too long and lost inches.

Running and jumping use completely different muscle fibers. So just because you run distance well, does not mean you have good type 2x muscle fibers for fast twitch movements. It actually makes a lot of sense why he doesn’t jump high.
