I ALWAYS struggle with how much gear to bring along. I usually err on the side of taking more "just in case". Then, when I get home, I tell myself once again that I didn't need all that gear. Always looking for the perfect pack, too. I think it will be a never-ending quest. Great video.
Hey Des, great to see your lightweight set up all ready to go with everything you need for a few days! Most definitely everything you NEED but without compromising comfort or safety. You were right in your assumption - my load out was just for the day but with options for an overnight stay if it went that way. I loved it when you reached the bottom of your main bag and out came the full sleeping system! :-) Huge thanks for the mentions and links - I've got more videos coming very soon
Nice one Des, really liking the load out and thinking behind it. Am keen to try and do something similar, albeit with the bike in mind. Happy birthday old bean, hope you have a good'un 👍
Hi Des, just a thought on something that might work with this setup. When I’ve been trying to push the Swagman in colder temps I take a scrim scarf with me. At sleep time I wrap it around my middle 2-3 times and acts like a string vest trapping the heat around the core. I find it helps me sleep better in colder temps & still nice and lightweight but of course YMMV.
@@descattysBushcraftbydescattys yep the old string vest seems to be getting a new look-in with ultralight hikers. A number of updated versions on the market now. Kind of makes sense with modern fibres. Not sure if I’m ready to embrace that 80s clubbing vibe when I’m in the woods….people might get the wrong idea. Then again who cares. 🕺
Damn, I am now Real Estate gutted 😊 I have managed to use my Karrimor 30lt pack up until two weeks ago, but am going out again soon on another camp. I have needed to up to my 90lt Bergen for colder kit but thankfully still coming in at 18kg. It is just the bulk. We need to have a chat at some point 😉 What a great loadout, Des. Good show sir!
Happy birthday Des. Have a Guinness for me . Have a good one. Love your channel 🎉

Wow that's a wicked hack I might try . I did wear string vests in the military way back

Yeah the bulk can be the issue, I always say it's about how compact you can get the gear
@@descattysBushcraftbydescattys Yeah. You have certainly done a top job there with that.
Damn
I forgot to like share and subscribe and join the madhouse 🤣😂🤣😂
