- Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg’s Speicherstadt district is home to the world’s largest model railway and a unique model world in its richness of details and precision.
It was rated Germany’s most popular tourist attraction in a vote hosted by the German National Tourism Board and is located at the Elbe in a historic warehouse, close to Elbphilharmonie.
The official video is only showing parts of a model world you have to see with your own eyes.
On a huge area of more than 1,499 m² (16,145 sq.ft.) and in nine different sections, there are more than 1,000 trains and 250 automatically controlled cars moving. More than 40 aircraft take off and land about 250 times a day at Knuffingen Airport, the world’s largest model airport. In Scandinavia, in a basin with 30,000 liters of real water, ships are covering their routes.
An outstanding model building masterpiece and an amazing experience for all ages that no words or films can properly describe.

We visited in August, the behind the scenes tour was great ( book ahead - they have them in English as well as German ).
I stayed from 6pm until 1am when they closed and still did not see everything - thankfully nearly an hour of video and 500 photos!
As a keen model railroader this place is unbelievable, but even my wife stayed 4 hours as the various scenes were so interesting.

I went last weekend and it is one of the most outstanding places I have ever visited. I spent 9 hours there and could have stayed for many more.

Did take a weekend trip to hamburg and miwu last winter, absolutly worth a visit even for people that are not intressted in model trains!👍

Yes, and I guess there is some pic-computers built in all over the layout. The trains is just the excuse, all the gadgets/lightcontrol/automatisation is the interesting part for a tech-geek like me😀
Ihr braucht unbedingt wieder ein neues Video. Dies ist auch schon 5 Jahre alt und ich sehe immer die Amerikaner das alte Video anschauen das schon 12 Jahre alt ist.
Ich hab mich echt gefreut auf das Video und es ist auch wirklich toll. Gut gedreht, schöne Ausschnitte etc.
Soweit so gut, aber ich gehe mal davon aus, dass das Video für den internationalen Nutzer gedacht ist und mir sind nun sogar als Deutscher einige Fehler in der Aussprache aufgefallen, ebenso wie andere kleine Fehler wie z.B. dass der Sprecher sagt "265 People are living in the Miniaturwunderland", während natürlich 265000 gemeint sind, so wie es in der Bildunterschrift auch steht. Wenn man den Text und den ein oder anderen Fehler noch korrigieren würde, würde das Video noch professioneller rüberkommen und ich denke das ist im Interesse Aller.
Dennoch muss ich sagen, das ist Jammern auf hohem Niveau.
Also, Chapeau an euch, macht weiter so!

Das ist ganz bestimmt alles Taktik. Das erhöht die Aufmerksamkeit der Zuschauer und macht neugierig ;-)
Es ist immer wieder ein Wunderland! Wer noch nie da war, MUSS sich das unbedingt selbst ansehen und geniessen. Aber unbedingt viiiiiiiiiel Zeit mitbringen. Es gehen auch mehrere Tage. Und unbedingt jede Aktion auslösen. Das offizielle Werbevideo ist top und ein appetizer.
jow wer Kleine Kinder hat wird wohl ehr mit denen in ein zwei Stunden da wieder raus sein aber auf jeden Fall später bzw am nächsten Tag wiederkommen ohne Kinder und länger bleiben :) Jeder Mann der sein Frau dazu bringt mit Ihm dorthin zu gehen hat eh schon gewonnen weil wenn die Frauen einmal die vielen kleinen Details sehen , sind die Frauen eh hin und weg!!! :)

My youngest son & husband are on their way to Hamburg today, they will be visiting this on Monday, it’s going to blow my husband’s mind… he won’t know he’s going till Monday as amazingly he doesn’t know about this place… this is a surprise visit for his birthday which was a couple of weeks ago and we’ve kept it so secret from him

Miniature wonder land is a replica of modern world. It is the gift of the modern science and technology . I bow my head before the each Genious person who planned and realized this wonderful miniature world.
Went here in 2015 i am coming back in 2020 to see Italy, Venice and France, Monaco extensions! Really hope a England extension is made soon however. Its totally fantastic and a must do when in Hamburg!

And because many tourists have said they want more from outside of Europe. Unfortunately, this ends any plans for sections of GB and maybe the Netherlands.

Bin Filmemacher...also Cutting, Editing, Composting und vieles mehr stellt kein Problem dar. Außerdem bin ich auch H0 Modellbauer. Irgendwas würde sich bestimmt finden lassen. Aber aus Köln bei euch bewerben ist schlecht wegen Wohnung und so. Können wir für paar Monate erst Mal ein Bett in irgendeinen evtl. noch halbwegs freien Raum stellen :D

It's my dream to go there. Maybe when we retire, we can go. I'd also like to take a train to the ostrich memorial. I've never been to Europe, and I'd also like to visit Ireland and London. It's only a dream, but maybe we'll get to do it. I've always loved miniatures and have always been saddened but interested in the Holocaust. It's still impossible to take in all of what was done to the Jewish people and others. We must never forget.
Oh je, macht das besser nochmal. Die Bilder sind toll, aber die Stimme mit deutlichem Akzent, Aussprachefehlern die offensichtlich keinem aufgefallen sind (thouthand), und auch richtige Fehler (265 statt 265000).

I visited it a couple of years ago and I loved it. Only negative point : due to the large number of persons present, it was not always possible to admire quietly the scenes.
I was there in mid October with my wife. We had traveled around Europe before coming to Miniatur Wonderland and it was great to see the places we had been to, presented on the layout. Will there be a area for the southern hemisphere? IE: New Zealand or Australia. As we are from New Zealand Miniatur Wunderland was on our bucket list and has now been checked off. I have have to find an excuse to travel another 24 plus hours to come back again. Most impressive.
At least South America is under construction.
It'd be awesome to be able to shrink down and explore the entire thing.

*Made in Hamburg, Germany* - and it is what it sounds like. A great decision in my opinion. We could also present ourselves in perfect English but what is the point in that? Let us present ourselves as who we are, we can be proud of the Miniatur Wunderland after all, authentic, not contrived.
